    Awsome video! Thanks for visiting my beautiful home-island😊. In case you come back, I recommend visiting Kalamaki beach (for me, it is the best beach to go shelling in Zakynthos, especially in winter, early and middle spring, as there' s many shellers in summers and half the beach is closed because of sea turtles' nests). Some other beaches to go shelling are Alykes, Tsilivi, Makrys Gialos (if you' re keen on micro shells) and Potamaki. I've been shelling in Zakynthos for a while and I've managed to find some pretty cool shells, like a tune, a triton's trumpet, some kinds of murex, ceriths, bittersweet clams, turbans and more🐚.

    Well I'm envious \! Those are the most beautiful shade of blue water. Shells and rocks are not the best of buds, I love them both. Rocks are a consolation prize for me. what luck on Turtle Isle, beautiful tiny shells. Thanks for sharing.

    Very cool that you found shells in Greece! That scenery is amazing! And it just doesn't get any better than finding exotic species. I've actually shelled the east coast of Spain years ago, and it was pretty great (I wanted to make a return this past summer but failed miserably, maybe next year). Thanks for sharing the unique adventure!

      Solace in Shelling, yes it is Quoddy Head Light. My husbands gr grandfather was keeper there for many years as well as five other lights in Maine. His mother spent many summers on Petite Manan. He passed away doing what he liked on Rams Island light off Portland.

    Really enjoyed seeing this new environment , I was surprised with the lack of sea life though, with such beautifully clear water. No starfish, crabs or sea urchins, not even many fish. Do you know why this is? Thank for all the videos.

    • @solaceinshelling6552
      @solaceinshelling6552  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi friend, interesting question - I have read that the Mediterranean Sea is largely devoid of specific types of vegetation in the shallow water areas. Most nutrients are found in the bottom, deeper layers, but algae thrive in the top layers, where the sun shines, as they need light to grow. The result seems to be these factors causing the ultra clear, blue water that Mediterranean is known for.
      Stay tuned, there is a part 2 to Greece coming soon here!
