    Something we have been seeing on newer model with oil leaks, excessive crankcase pressure. Mostly on high idle time trucks. To check this, fire it up reve it. Then pull the oil fill cap while running. Engineering has said any noticeable pressure, you need to replace the crankcase breather box.

      @Myballsitchsomethingfierce 2011s had plastic pans because the older trucks steel pans used to rust out so Ford tried to remedy that with a plastic pan but that ceeates its own problems.

    The '11 F250+'s are real nice with the upper oil pan as it just uses a replaceable gasket+Rtv. Unfortunately later models do away with that and utilizes a bead of Rtv all around the perimeter of the Upper oil pan. Also, you should have went ahead and replaced the gasket on the front cover since you were basically already there, I get a lot of early and late model 6.7s that leak from the front cover.

    Bill, my little area is dense with Powerstroke emergency vehicles. Only AMR does a diaper load of idling. The rest of the Emergency Response Vehicles typically only idle during calls, although outside the city limits, with the exception of AMR, They have a high idleswitch that brings them up to the neighborhood of 1-1.4k rpm.

  • @rar91181
    @rar91181 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    As a Ford tech I'd go ahead and reseal the front cover along with an upper oil pan reseal. Especially on the newer silicone gasket style upper oil pans. If the front cover leaks after just doing the upper oil pan reseal. Then you'll have to take the upper oil pan off again.

    Hello Bill thank you for your service to the power stroke community. I heard you in the video mentioned that you wouldn’t recommend running 25k on Amsoil. I run both amsoil signature synthetic and Archoil on my 7.3 with bypass filter. What would be a good interval on 7.3 that you would recommend. Thank you in advance!!!

    I recently took my 2004 Ford 350 6.0 (190.,000 miles) to check out a consistent missing after the engine warmed up. This diesel shop is the top rated shop in out town. They found by their diagnostic testing that 4 of the 8 injectors were fouling up after it warmed up. Two on either side. We replaced all injectors with Ford factory injectors and it ran like a champ. After 4 weeks,. It started to miss again. The shop got right on it and found problems with 2 injectors. Ford furnished 2 new injectors and paid for the labor for installation. It's running like a champ again. My question is , How often do you find Ford factory injectors are bad?
    I enjoy your site. Thanks

    2006 6.0 always have rough starts mainly in cold weather, it always runs smooth once oil temperature reaches 125 degrees.

    Not to mention the vacuum pump seals on the front of the engine that leak too. I think the forget to tighten the bolts that hold the pump on. most of the bolts are finger tight.

    • @holywobbles8703

Duramax used such a thin grade of steel for their oil pans that they rust thru in like 6 years. Right after warranty. ;)
