Had the same leak, and took a video of it leaking down the block as well as pictures of coolant in the valley under the turbo. Take it to the dealer cause it has warranty and they pressure test it 3 times and say they can find the leak even after I told them it was probably the crossover gaskets. They checked one more time and what do you know it was the crossover gaskets leaking. I’m starting to loose faith in the techs at my local ford dealer in Houston.

I had the same leak a year ago. 114,000 miles on my 2012. Cross over pipe gasket on the thermostat side. I first noticed my coolant reservoir an inch low and noticed a coolant smell. Saw the puddle in the valley. Used a telescope mirror to find the leak. While I was at it I replaced the turbo coolant supply line. Folks say those are prone to spring leaks as well. And obviously a new thermostat. Wasn’t too crazy. Took me about 5 hrs in the driveway. I had quotes from $1100 up to $2300. Anyway great video as always! Mike.

Topped off the coolant and white smoke stopped. But 5-10 miles down the road coolant was low again and back to white smoke. Any idea what that could be?

  • @williamclark9624

But hey, I got new U-bolts. Am unsure how a technique of building work trucks for many generations, can overlook a weld feature. Even the welds go around the rear-end axle, looked perfect. did just have spot welds on the ends of each. Am unsure of how that compromised the structure, or strength of the spring seats.

I noticed my primary coolant system was down a smidge in the degas bottle on my 15 6.7 tree fidy. I topped off coolant to cold fill mark and began pressurizing primary coolant system. Within the first hour the system dropped a pound, 16-15 psi with no visible leakage. I left the system pressurized overnight and lost a total of 2 psi, 16-14 still no visible leaks. I inspected the usually suspects, bone dry in the valley, no residual coolant at turbo coolant supply line, or fitting. Coolant crossover pipe is dry and clean, radiator, and all lines are clean, CAC pipe removed with no internal leak. With the system pressurized, I sprayed soapy water on all coolant line connections to verify no faulty O-rings. Have you ever had to use UV dye in a coolant system to pinpoint ghost 👻 leaks? I know the organic chemistry 🧪 is important to maintain in these coolant systems, and do not want to risk contamination without running it by you first. Sorry about the lengthy comment, I appreciate your time.
