Replacing the upper engine oil pan on a 6.7L Powerstroke? This is something you NEED to check before you do! A brand-new oil pan direct from Ford destroyed this customer's engine. After investigating, we discovered that there is a manufacturing defect in this pan that caused the engine to not get oil.

A lot of engineers are profit driven and not quality driven. And shows

I'm just curious as to why you replaced the upper oil pan as opposed to resealing it just curious

A lot of people who have 14 and up, want to go back to the original 11-13 upper oil pans, because they have a gasket, instead of being sealed with silicone. The gasket seals much better, and wont need a new gasket for 100k-150k miles.
Resealing the upper oil pan is stupid expensive, because the transmission hast to be removed in order to do it. So going to the gasket saves time, and serious money over the life of the truck.
My 2016 is leaking, and Im going to order an 11-13 model year upper oil pan for this exact reason. I want to be able to wait 150k more miles before I have to spend $3000 to have it resealed.

Is there why have to replace upper oil pan ? Why don’t just replace gasket

    • @duconce

Doesn't have a gasket, silicon sealer is used that's why they leak

Question why are you starting engines that have just been worked on before you have oil pressure? Also they make borescopes now that piggyback on to smartphones they're less than $100

How many 17 pans have you swapped with the gasketted pans? I want to swap my 17 to the pan with the gasket, but the technician at Ford told me that would be a bad idea. They look identical, so I’m not entirely sure why they WOULDNT work…

Watch this video: th-cam.com/video/9zdpTlqPNvU/w-d-xo.html where we explain this. We have heard that this is what Ford is telling customers. They will say this untill they go through all the pans without the gasket then it will be superseded. Several of our customers have done the update.

@@mr8610 It is the same exact pan. The ONLY difference, is the gasket cut in.
Your tech probably told you it was a bad idea, because he wants your business much sooner to reseal the leaky oil pan that has no gasket.

Ford quality has gone downhill because the engineers aren’t doing anything to make them last I think they need to be fired and hire people who care I have heard they try to make them as cheap. Shame on you engineers!
