  • Topical Satire as history lesson now as we look back to Spring 1990 for an edition of BBC2's Rory Bremner Show. Thatcher (played by Steve Nallon) is still PM, Mitterrand is President of France and Helmut Kolh Chancellor of what was still West Germany.
But other than that, the issues seem all too familiar

The evolution of Bremner's Major impression is impressive.

Wow. Thanks for posting this up. I only really caught his BBC stuff when it was repeated on UK Gold. Only seen a few of them. This is interesting - and also Steve Nallon as Thatcher.

Steve Nallon was great, the only one who could do Thatcher's shouting voice.

"I'm not paying for them: they're mine!" pretty much sums up the Thatcher cabinet's position on Europe.

Bremner was so much better before he became obsessed with Westminster politics.

I loved his show back in the 90s and early 2000s. His impressions of Tony Blair, Major, Prince Charles and so many others were fantastic.
I went to see him live in 2012 and he didn't disappoint.
Unfortunately went I saw him the second time in 2017 just 9 months after the Referendum he was mediocre and ruined his show by inviting Anna Soubry MP on stage with him.
She then proceeded to lecture the audience about how bad Brexit was and why we should reverse the Referendum.
Boos and jeers followed, some people even walked out in disgust.
I'm not such a big fan of Bremner now.

@@chrisnettleship4331 I've never seen Bremner live... missed a couple of chances at the Theatre Royal near by and having heard that I'm kinda glad I didn't itd put me off for life!

@@thedivinemrm5832 Sounds like he decided to pick a side and hector us about it. You wouldn't go to a Bremner show to hear him say "Vote Tory" or "Vote Labour", why would you go to a Bremner show to hear Anna Soubry?
