I absolutely adore Peter Ustinov, incredibly talented, multilingual, just the most heavenly guest on any chat show. I can't understand why Derek Nimmo isn't reacting normally to this wonderful man.
two amazing talents, characters so rare these days: intelligent, witty, urbane, interesting. Both men much missed...well, by those of us old enough to remember their talent and intellect.
Absolutely brilliant - thanks for posting. Ustinov deserves still to be alive and to rule the World than some old men who want to rule it today. A memento of a truly great human being.
Bit disrespectful to Ustinov, who was a master in numerous fields, a diplomat, a polyglot (spoke 6 languages fluently) and 2 time Oscar winner. Fry on the other hand is good at convincing people he is cleverer than them.
Oh how interesting! I just finished watching a movie with some friends that had him in it, when he was younger. He played a fantastically sniveling kind of character. How funny that he should come up in my TH-cam.
I saw him at the Palace theatre Manchester. I'm quite proud of myself being so young yet interested enough to book tickets. I convinced my then girlfriend to come with me and we both loved it.
Several comments noting that similarity. I can't see it at all, but maybe because I grew up with Derek Nimmo and there couldn't be someone more different in background and public image from the Gallagher brothers. can you imagine them guesting on All Gas and Gaters??
Definitely no. A well known comic actor of his day, went on to have his own theatre group which travelled around the world putting on comic and frantic plays , lovely man.

What Ustinov says about suppressing our instincts is more relevant today than at the time. It seems to be the aim of the left, and perhaps it always has been. Enforced Ideology and pie-in-the-sky social theorising is their game.
@@hiimnewhere Well, I found it fascinating that Ustinov was so perceptive, and also able to speak openly about the issue. He wouldn't be able to mention it today,. But perhaps you're right. Not everyone is so worried about these issues.
It's not the left who are responsible for the problems we are facing. History will teach you that the rich determine what is good for the Poor. Until we understand this. The poor are going nowhere. God bless Scotland.
Lol, in what world do you live? Wherever you look, it is the Right that's trying to suppress any notion of sexuality and enforce their backward ideology, especially the religious Right.
I could listen to this man forever . . .
Me too😂😂❤❤❤
Ustinov was such a great story teller. It is something that I find missing in today’s chat shows.
Today’s ’chat’ shows are commercials for the guests’ recent performances.
Clever guy. Every story was like a well written comedy sketch, plus voices, accents, sound effects and languages. Amazing.
I absolutely adore Peter Ustinov, incredibly talented, multilingual, just the most heavenly guest on any chat show. I can't understand why Derek Nimmo isn't reacting normally to this wonderful man.
The greatest storyteller there ever was.
Now there's my ideal dinner guest! I could listen to him tell stories so animatedly for hours
Very much doubt if people have dinner guests anymore, what with the mobile phones etc.
He was one of the greatest gifts to a chat show host. A superlative story teller.
We miss him. We need more people like Sir Peter. The world would be a better one.
Ustinov - just plain brilliant, brilliant, BRILLIANT!
I'll second that, and that and that! Brilliant man, they don'y make them like that anymore. Mwah mwah Peter.
Brilliant, a solo Goon…

The late great Peter Ustinov. Amazing actor. 👏👏👏RIP and his films live on.
One of the best storytellers ever.

Truly glorious man.
He was absolutely wonderful and brilliant 🎉
The greatest raconteur of all time I met him a few times as a child as my father knew him and his stories were fascinating
Как Вам повезло!.
You are so lucky. The closest I got is to have the same birthday. I adored him so much as a child ❤
Wonderful raconteur and a true Renaissance Man. Also I don't know if it's just me but as he was talking Stephen Fry came into my mind.
Bit disrespectful to Ustinov, who was a master in numerous fields, a diplomat, a polyglot (spoke 6 languages fluently) and 2 time Oscar winner. Fry on the other hand is good at convincing people he is cleverer than them.
Brilliantly put, Fry comes across as a bit of a lovey and snowflake with a superiority complex.@@MarcoSpeaksNadsat
Such a spellbinding story teller. You just get absolutely transfixed.
Do we have any such a brilliant storyteller to day.
I don't think so
Steven fry comes close
@@kevrussell5972I was just going to say the same. Imagine them at a dinner party 😂
One of the great story tellers of all time 😂😂
This man is addictive!!!
what a woderfull story teller! must have been a great man.

What an excellent orator. He was so witty and wonderful.❤
I particularly like his prince John in the Disney animated version of Robin Hood: "mummy." Terry Thomas as Hiss the snake as well.
....and this interview was the year after both these gentlemen starred in my personal favourite from Disney: 'One Of Our Dinosaurs Is Missing'.
I always laugh when he shouts "SEIZE THE FAT ONE!" 😂
A gifted story teller --an amazing talent and a great soul
Saw his one man show, genius. Of course then, unlike now, interviews could be just for entertainment rather than to plug a new book or film.
I saw him at the Palace theatre Manchester. I'm quite proud of myself being so young yet interested enough to book tickets. I convinced my then girlfriend to come with me and we both loved it.
Who doesn't love Peter. His suit is right up my alley.
I remember he found out he has some African genes.
Absolute Magic
Brilliant human
Peter Ustinov.... AN ICON:
Peter Ustinov wa one of five Hollywood Stars who lived an died on lake Geneva in Switzerland.
He was so brilliant, I miss him.
Audience in the 70s:
"CAN society get
any worse?"
Internet:
"Hold my pint…"
Derek Nimmo was a regular and brilliant panelist on Just A Minute.
Peter Ustinov ❤ Miss him GREATLY.
This is around the time that Ustinov and Nimmo made One of our Dinosaurs is Missing.
11:53 He sums up my point of view, and he was there fifty years before me.
The horse just misheard his name as Peter Ucomeoff.
Looks like he has only just finished Logan’s run promos as the old man
I was wondering the same. I think I'll watch it tonight, as I haven't seen it in a couple years. Cheers!
It was the same year, so you may well be right.
A great storyteller. Much missed
Peter Ustinov and Derek Nimmo? One of our Dinosaurs is Missing!
👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍
The 70’s elegance was pretty weird 😊 but funny.
Isn't that lovely that Peter thought Americans were nice. We don't get called that often (usually that's reserved for Canada).
He knew enough Germans and Austrians to justify that assessment.
Is he being interviewed by one of the Gallagher brothers?!
People like him. Definitely not made anymore…
Is the guy on the right Noel Gallagher’s dad?
Lol 😆. Respectfully of course.

He's been gone twenty years now, but I have to wonder what he'd make of the world today and the incoming US administration.
Noel Gallagher interviewing Peter ustinov, well I never!
Considering that Derek Nimmo had a part in The Beatles first film I wouldn’t be surprised if Noel slavishly copied him.
"The Americans are just so nice." .... sigh...
Sa🎄nta Claus is real😊
Santa Claus has committed suicide.
The Reason?.
Lack of letters asking for Dreams.
He spent a large part of his life as a car... you can't make it up.
Who chose that TIE?
I'm guessing him or his wife, Peter didn't have an image maker or stylist. I like iut, but agree with the jacket they clash a touch
Oasis have let themselves go havent they?
Noel Gallagher has certainly cultivated himself.
Who is Noel Gallagher?
@@DieFlabbergast
Lol... Really??!!
That was my first reaction, is this their father, uncle?

Derek Niko has no sense of humor,Ustinov was divine!
Nimmo seems unamused because the spotlight isn’t on him! Outshone by Ustinov. Nimmo wasn’t a nice man apparently.
Love Peter Ustinov, a genius. But Derek Nimmo seemed only slightly interested, almost embarrassing.

Interestingly, Nimmo doesn't grasp half of it. Parkinson's interviews were infinitely better.
What a flat emcee!
What a bore.
I can't believe that he turned out to be such.
