Thom could record his body sounds, slap on his belly and yelp to Flea's bass while Nigel mixed the whole thing and millions would still tune in. I'd buy the whole album.
let's take a moment to appreciate every member of this band. of course Thom is brilliant, and if you don't know how good flea is go watch rhcp live at Woodstock '99. but Nigel, joey and Mauro are also brilliant
That drummer is insane... some of these beats.....incredible.... Thom has such creative ears, duno how he can come up with such an amazing baseline and work an amazing track thru it
they are playing here the night before i'll have the exam i've been studying for months... really think i'm going to burn my brain of at the concert and fail the exam. pretty sure it will be worth though
dude, as a massive thom yorke, flea and mike patton fan, i could not agree more. kiedis is a douche and his voice is dire. he's held back fine musicians, ie flea and john for years. this stuff in afp is the most innovative stuff flea's done in about 20 years. hollowsmith, you're my hero.
So much for the old days when it still went under the name reckoner... had exact same bass line, however the chorus had Thom shouting some lines that couldn't be made out....it just didn't fit the song or the flowing bass line...so what he's done here is incredible as it lifts the song more than ever thought possible... thoms solo work is genius.. And this song is a monster if your tripping... takes u to another dimension.. THAT BASS LINE...eargasm......*on repeat*
Ok man , i really like Thom Yorke but this project " Atoms for peace " without a great musican like Flea can go to fuck . It could have been really much better with a real guitar player.
dude in what fucking universe does Thom Yorke not make hundreds of thousands and dollars and isn't popular? I'm a Radiohead fan, but you don't become the closing act in Glastonbury by being "underground". And for the third fucking time, I NEVER said the Chili's were King Crimson. But again, being there has NOT stopped Flea from playing with top class musicians and doing interesting things in the last 20 years. That's simply not true.
If making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year and getting the chance to become as influential as he has become is getting hold back you have a pretty bad sense of what it is to be "limited". My argument was that Flea has done stuff just as interesting and creative as this IN the last 20 years. I just told you which projects to look for. If you don't like RHCP that's fine, but to say they hold Flea back is plain stupid lol.
The RHCP started as a "fuck it" project that had no goal but to put on a crazy-ass-punk-funk-styled show for 15 minutes while naked. Today they are more influential (and respected, even by artists as important as Thom Yorke) than almost anyone in modern American pop rock (and no, being pop is not a musical sin). I think they've gone pretty far from where they started. Douchbag or not, Kiedis is certainly a more accomplished musician than you could ever aspire to be.
I think what you meant to say is Anthony Keidis is not a strong singer... John Frusciante is a GOD. Chad lays is down PHAT on drums, he just doesn't have the roll of a more diverse drummer. FLEA and JOHN are both amazing. RHCP is amazing. but yes... THOM AND FLEA is better than anothony and flea (the only 2 original chil peppers still in the band)
Again...listen to Take the Veil Cerpin by The Mars Volta, look up his jam with John and Omar, listen to John's solo projects. Cut the "RHCP is holding Flea back" crap. He is there cause he loves the "douche" you hate so much as if he was his brother, and the music he's made there still makes him proud.
This is completely amazing! I think that once they finally release their debut, they should re-record Thom's solo album, "The Eraser," and put these b-sides on their as well. I think that their versions of Thom's solo songs are 10x better than the album versions (not that it isn't a great record)! Or at least a live album...
well nowadays its pretty easy, get implants, stick a fake tan on and buy an autotune rack, write a bad song and sign up to capitol records, their success rate is 1 muso in every ten
Anyone got a tab? o: Not really for the main bassline, I got that figured out but I'm not so good at learning by ear and so I can't figure out that bridge part ): Help? D:
I think you don't actually listen to the Peppers beyond Give It Away and Californication, frankly. I'll be the first to admit that Anthony is not the world's most gifted lyricist or vocalist, but he has had moments of poetic clarity and insight. Look at the lyrics for Under the Bridge, Hard to Concentrate, Soul to Squeeze, and Brendan's Death Song. You may be pleasantly surprised. Honestly, I won't defend the overt horniness of his lyrics, though. You can either look past it or you can't.
@1zv maybe it's time to expand your vocabulary. @hollowsmith my argument hasn't shifted. There is no way to make this easier to understnad for you: as bad as Bieber, Spears and AK are, they are accomplished musicians. Like it or not, that's simply a fact. And whatever the measure is, yes these terrible artistd are more talented than you are.
rhcp is holding flea back though.....it's not crap. every interested music enthusiast knows rhcp are a cruise ship rock band who haven't made anything refreshing since 1993. it doesn't bother me if he's proud, bieber's proud of his stuff, do i care? no.
no, infact your first sentence makes me lmao. i can't believe there's someone on a thom yorke related video who says making lots of money and being as popular=an amazing, fresh, musician who brings things i've never heard before to fruition.thom yorke's done it over and over in radiohead, but flea with rhcp? nope. and no, i disagree, blood sugar was the last album chilis did something new, interesting and different.
Am I trippin or is this the original version of Radiohead's "Reckoner"? The exact same baseline for starters... and the vocals to. It sounded more "rockin" from RH, but this is sweet. I always preferred this version of Reckoner. But now get 2.
@1zv for the last time, I'm not saying that money=musical achievement. I'm saying that making money, like Flea does with the Chilis, allows him to go and pursue more interesting projects more freely. Contrary to holding him back as you said.
And I will also just say that I cannot imagine the Peppers being fronted by anyone except Anthony. Maybe Prince, but he would be faulted for the same things haha. I think that the actual music being played and the really strong love that the band has for each other has always been waaaay more important than whatever Anthony's saying. But to each his own, dude. I totally understand why he isn't your thing. But don't fault the entire forest for one tree ;)
Atoms For Peace is more interesting to me right now than RHCP or Radiohead (which are two of my favorite bands) it just seems like Atoms have much more vitality and rock to them than RHCP or Radiohead at the moment.
People MAY think AFP is better than Radiohead, but that's because Flee is fucking amazing. Don't get me wrong as good as Flee is, he is and never will be musically gifted like Johnny Greenwood..
My name is jedrzejku and i've been listening to both artists for as long as they've been around and only today, in february 2013, have i learned that they regularly share a stage. i am reborn.
Genre: Thom yorke
Brock Grossman sounds like pink floyd and king crimson
+pedro faria barely
Yes, there’s a clear influence of crimson and Floyd .. but at the same time this sounds nothing like one of their songs at all
Totally agree!!!
@@pedrofaria7451 nope.
the Radiopeppers.
Thom Yorke anything is great. But you add Flea into the mix and OH SHIT.
Flea + Thom = Musical madness..
Thom Yorke is a lunatic.
HAHA
Descendant of Kraff wow so cool
Thom Yorke is England's biggest musical genius since John Lennon & Paul McCartney
the National Anthem version atoms for peace :P
Flea wearing a t-shirt? I'm sure he was sick that day...
2019 still the best version of this song.
Best version of this song HANDS DOWN.....and will be for a while i am thinking!
The Smile: "Hold my beer..."
Nah 2001
No, 2009 when it was released.
Really like the Thom Yorke one? Too mellow. It’s gotta be hella edgy…
Thom could record his body sounds, slap on his belly and yelp to Flea's bass while Nigel mixed the whole thing and millions would still tune in. I'd buy the whole album.
Hey dude, somethig like that: th-cam.com/video/UPMPye2gg3o/w-d-xo.html
let's take a moment to appreciate every member of this band. of course Thom is brilliant, and if you don't know how good flea is go watch rhcp live at Woodstock '99. but Nigel, joey and Mauro are also brilliant
I saw atoms for peace on acid... It was easily one of the most profound and inspiring experiences of my existence
drummer on the farthest level!
That drummer is insane... some of these beats.....incredible.... Thom has such creative ears, duno how he can come up with such an amazing baseline and work an amazing track thru it
@@raditmahindro that's what I said isn't it?
It makes me so happy that Thom and Flea are friends and playing music together.
Two of my favorite musicians
This version still goes hard TO THIS DAY.
Thon counting in japanese is super sugoi
the japanese countdown
you don't need drugs, Thom is a drug! He flows...within you.
Strange or amazing ? Both !!!!!!
this is some weird shit. fleas awesome on bass.
Goddammit Thom, why didn't you get Atoms for Peace to record this in the studio and release it on Amok or as a b-side?!
they are playing here the night before i'll have the exam i've been studying for months... really think i'm going to burn my brain of at the concert and fail the exam.
pretty sure it will be worth though
Did you pass?
Thom is my favorite guitarist
Thom and flea fit so well together !!!
ど う どう う う う ど ど ど ど どう う う ど ど どう 一 一 一 二 二 二 三 三 三 四 四 四!
THANK YOU GOD THEY CAME TOGETHER THE BEST BRITISH VOCAL AND THE WORLD'S BEST BASS
this is one of the best live performances ive heard in a while..
this is better than rhcp and radiohead combined
dude, as a massive thom yorke, flea and mike patton fan, i could not agree more. kiedis is a douche and his voice is dire. he's held back fine musicians, ie flea and john for years. this stuff in afp is the most innovative stuff flea's done in about 20 years. hollowsmith, you're my hero.
I just saw them in Paris on acid and needless to say it was fucking incredible
De locos...
Flea rules 'Atoms for peace' Thom Yorke!
1:36 Thom indicates the drum guy that's playing too loud. he goes down and Thom approves in 1:43.
great to know it man,, The movement of his hand,, hahaha,,
Love seeing coms in live
Imagine what heights AFP could reach with Frusciante and/or Klinghoffer added to the mix. This is such a trip already.
Max Van Westerop I just came buckets imagining a Frusciante solo in this
Lets give a petition to John that he Will join them
i was listening this song again to test hi end headphones and teleported to another dimension.
@CristobalDSS flea didnt compose this bassline lol xD.
He looked so proud at the end lol
Pulled apart by horse? Just one?
I spent the whole song expecting Thom to start screaming RECKONER PAPAPA
Absolutely sick and job done the way it’s supposed to be deliver.
Truly amazing to see FLEA and Thom jamming together. can't wait for the album
I NEED TO FUCK WITH THOM YORKE
Amores
Ok man , i really like Thom Yorke but this project " Atoms for peace " without a great musican like Flea can go to fuck . It could have been really much better with a real guitar player.
if you value groove over emotion than ur absolutely right
You have to be kidding me. Thom is not Jimmy Page, but he is really a good player.
This video is great, I love watching Thom dancing :p

Tom and flea have the same ridiculous dance moves

Assuming that a "musical accomplishment" which is already pretty hard to define, is like something you can simply "give" is ridiculous.
En boucle !!!
That's funny because alcohol is one of the most destructive drugs.
Outstanding!!! just learned this bass line and play along on a daily basis , a truly inspired collection of musicians
No, no, no. He means: if you fuck with him (Thomas Yorke), Karma Police will arrest you for sure ;)
i disagree. don't get me wrong, i once loved rhcp, i like radiohead. but this is fucking insane.
Thom and Flea are neck in neck in terms of "musicians whose bodies are an extension of the music that passes through them".
I fucking like Flea , but hey I think you're forgetting someone :
/watch?v=r4OhIU-PmB8
Pues con lo del video de High & Dry en el canal de EMI, seguramente fans de Justin Bieber.
actually this song isn't from the eraser era. Was played live a LONG time ago with radiohead
2001 - amnesiac era. Was never produced then though. only played live
Drumming is fucking genius
Flea is just Fantastic!! So is Thom as well of course!
Йорк чертовски харизматичный чувак:)
if radiohead broke up, i guess i wouldn't be too upset.
...MUSIC OF THE FUCKING FUTURE !! ..THe new 60's ..
Alright so apparently Thom Yorke knows Japanese..
I had Herpes after this. goddamnit dirty bass

@InsomniumX he bassline changes only a bit

Song sounds very reminiscent of Christopher de Babalon's "Are You Talkin To Me". I'm sure Yorke was influenced by it. Heard him play it on a dj set.
no, infact your first sentence makes me lmao. i can't believe there's someone on a thom yorke related video who says making lots of money and being as popular=an amazing, fresh, musician who brings things i've never heard before to fruition.thom yorke's done it over and over in radiohead, but flea with rhcp? nope. and no, i disagree, blood sugar was the last album chilis did something new, interesting and different.
If you were to set up a bank of speakers in every major city on earth and repeatedly loop 4:50 - 5:10, you could enslave humanity.
Am I trippin or is this the original version of Radiohead's "Reckoner"? The exact same baseline for starters... and the vocals to. It sounded more "rockin" from RH, but this is sweet. I always preferred this version of Reckoner. But now get 2.

Radio Hot Chili Head, it works.

Not many ppl mentioning Joey or Nigel.. all of us, of course, should be pleased at the sight and enamored by the sounds.

I can see jonny behind this
