I love the term "Cool Neutral", I usually use the term "Silver" to capture bright voices that have that dark husk Jojo, Tori Kelly, &Michelle Williams.
Donna Summer is the Queen Of Vocal Colors because she sang various genres and changed up her voice to fit the character of the songs she sang. For example, compare her vocal approaches on Love To Love You Baby, Hot Stuff, Dinner With Gershwin, Stop Me, Sometimes Like Butterflies, etc.
My goodness, I'm honored yet again! Your knowledge and insight on vocal technique has actually helped so much! Your essays are immaculate (not that I expect anything less) Warm neutral is definitely my favorite, Perrie Edwards is one of my favorite vocalists of all time. And of course the great Whitney Houston!
Very interesting. I'm a little confused, but from what i've noticed, i think the warm voices have an asmr'ish whisper layer behind their main vocals, and neutrals can also have that whisper layer sometimes but not always. The cool ones are less asmr'ish to me, if that makes sense
Very nice video bestie. I love how both my favorite TH-camrs are somewhat supporting each other's channels like this hehe. And yeah, as someone who is bilingual, I tend to speak English in a higher voice register + sounding a bit feminine in comparison to when I speak in my native language where I talk in my more neutral and somewhat masculine voice. I guess that's just how our minds work when it comes to languages lmaooo
Neutral Darks are absolutely my favourites; they have this sense of mystery to their voices, but also that very grounded maturity. They also sound good as rappers eg when Beyoncé rap-sings.
This was such a beautiful video, I would think Taylor Swift might be a straight neutral. Mariah Carey would fit in a majority of these categories when looking at different eras
Imo Beyoncé is pure warm to me , her voice is like DEEP RICH HONEY . The coldest one for me could have been miss Lorde cause if I think about her the first thing that comes to mind is something very dreamy yet very dry . I also think Mariah is really difficult to put in a category and also her fellow diva Whitney
ahhh this can also explain why certain covers just sound so much better than others. i guess there's probably a better chance of if one chooses to cover a song of someone with the similar archetype. using this, i also agree with you that ailee is probably a very neutral tone!
omg thanks for the video again! You made me realize that all my faves are all in cool tone: Miley, Seulgi, Karina, and Jennie. But I do love Wendy's warm tone that's why 'Written in the stars ft. John Legend' was such a heartwarming song🥺
Warm Neutral are the most beautiful tones/colors/textures, you definitely can't imitate them, and their version will always be superior to any other cover. My opinion.
15:09 Yess can we please explore them? I'm very interested in textures in the voice. This was such a fun video because sometimes I do feel some voices are 'warm' while others are 'cool'. I totally thought Beyonce would be warm dark xD. And Tori Kelly and Mariah Carey definitely fit the warm bright category. Oh no, I really loved this kind of video, hope you'll be making more! And just a question, as someone matures, can their voice go from bright to dark?
ooo this is interesting! I love this concept. I feel like Toni Braxton is a warm dark voice. Her voice has alot of warmth to it. Sade has a cool warm tone to her voice. Jennifer Hudson voice is warm neutral cause sometimes she has alot of depth and weight to her voice but she can also brighten it up as well. Mariah Carey voice is smooth but I think its neutral cause her voice can be bright as well as warm or cool. Christina Aguilera tone is cool dark to me. Wonderful topic I love this. First person that came to mind was Bebe Winans in the gospel realm with a warm voice. Also Luther Vandross and Donny Hathaway.
I genuinely wish this was an official categorization system because I feel that it makes so much sense. I watch this video over and over because enjoy it so much. 🥰
Irene voice in Cool Bright catergory? Cool, that's explain why I love her and Wendy's voice so much. Both are bright~ And since there's John Legend clip, I wanna put it here: Wendy x John Legend "Written in the stars" Wendy x Ricky Martin "Vente pa ca" RV x Ellie Goulding "Close to me"
What category would you put: Annie Lennox. Alison Moyet. Lisa Stansfield. George Michael. Rick Astley. Phil Collins. Enya. Amy Winehouse. Luther Vandross. Freddie Mercury.
Miley gives me warm dark. I lowkey feel a blankie of warm air on my skin in my mind when i hear her Sohyang gives me cool bright everyday. Her performances of Wild flower, and Bridge over trouble water gave that to me.
Mariah done had just about every tone on here 😭 because a album like glitter or music box are way brighter then debut era same with Beyoncé her was was always darker but more bright earlier on
Bright voices usually uses head/falsetto. Dark uses chest a lot of time. Gaga is insane when it comes to her chest and you can feel it's gravity but has an unsupported head sometimes. Katy is the opposite. She doesn't have much chest and uses brighter tones most often
My favourite women vocalist and voice in k-pop are: 1) Ella in Pixy she has similar voice as Ariana Grande, can do bright angelic high note or powerful high note, she can sing with her chest with her low voice, she can rap, her facial expression is amazing, 2) Yeongjung from WJSN, can do very high note, 3) Ningning of Aespa
hm from my own limited understanding of these archetypes, it seems like neutral brights are the most common in pop music. (or at least the current pop music landscape
What I like most about your channel is how you describe in words the voices of kpop singers. I hope to one day hear a description of STAYC, I like your opinions.
ur videos have rlly helped discover my own voice and evaluate what assets I have as a singer so i rlly appreciate ur channel :)) literally get so excited every time u post!
I’ve been trying to classify my voice in one of these. I think I might be Cool bright. Or warm dark. I can have some sweetness however have a darkness to my voice in my show choir that stands out.
Warm neutral is my favorite, which explains why I always loved Whitney and Kelly. I don’t know Perrie but the little I’ve heard of her, it sounds like it’d describe her voice too. Mori on the other hand sounds more warm bright to me, along the lines of Mariah and Tori.
I agree that Perries very versatile cause she can manipulate her vibrato to be a bit faster for a more upbeat song or slow it down in a sense for a ballad and same w Whitney she can be dark at times in a sense, but was very versatile in the Sense that she could switch up and sing and genre And I agree mariah has that warm and bright colour she showed it a lot during butterfly era and music box era imo And the neutral bright i love how u chose Ariana grande and Justin bieber bc they’re both singers who represent that kind of colour Yk
Wonderful topic and wonderful video! Question for you: do you think a singer's quality (brightness, darkness...) can change depending on the register in which they're singing?
Im not him, but I think that's very possible. There are singers with dark mid and lows and bright high notes/head voices. Same with cool - warm and other qualities.
Depending how you sing, you can definitely change qualities. For example, I’m a bass and I mostly sing with a rounder and open mouth for the low notes. But when I do sing higher keys or just pop songs, I switch to my higher register which thins and sounds twangy. In other words, my vocal quality is considered cool bright but when I change it, I’m a warm bright.
It does change. I'm a guy and my voice sounds naturally somewhat husky, raspy and really warm. But usually my voice seems to be much lighter than it naturally is, because I mainly mix my registers instead of belting, and tbh I struggle with poor chest voice development xD
I think changing vocal color is easier for neutral tones. For example Beyonce was a Cool/Neutral but her upper belts sound very bright. Whitney and Kelly were Warm Neutral but their upper belts are known for being dark, meaty and piercing. A dark or bright voice tends to keep its tone but neutral toned voices tend to have more versatility in changing their tone while maintaining the same quality of sound.
There are many technical ways of modifying the tone of your voice, however everyone has a place in their voice, which is the most neutral and is the closest to their true tone. For example, I can sing with a darker and cooler tone to my voice even though my voice is naturally on the warm neutral/warm bright side.
It's definitely possible for some singers voices to go through several categories if they sing through hormonal changes from their youth over a span of decades like my girl Whitney! She was girly bright in the 80s... then we got a smooth but darker tone on Bodyguard (being pregnant her voice dropped an octave)... which was nice but my personal fav was her full rich mature sound (The Preachers Wife mid late 90s/early 2000)! Whitney trademark at the height of her career. ❤️ P.s. While Aretha is Queen of soul, her voice also changed. Dionne Warwick too.
You should do a version for R&B 90s style (i..e. Toni, Whitney, Deborah, Tamia, Kelli Price )!! 👏🏼 🙌🏽 And stop talking about your voice. You sound fine But if you want more bass, just drop your jaw and project from the back of your throat or bee bop like old school rappers (pulsing from the base side of your throat/ singers vein)😆
Nice concept. I'd like to use it for three of my faves who didn't get to be in this video : Lara Fabian : I would put her in Warm Neutral Celine Dion : I think Warm Bright is fitting Faouzia : I'm less sure of it, but I would say Cool Neutral Do you agree ?
I came here hoping tofigure out which one fits me, but it's almost impossible to categorize myself 😅 I am very sure I am dark, but then I can also sound very clear and light in my higher register. Help?
Warm/Neutral, Warm/Dark and Warm Bright are my favorites. I think that Lisa Fischer has a Warm/Dark or Warm/Neutral voice. It's gorgeous! I really liked this video!
Mariah's voice went thru like multiple changes over the years, so she can be in many catagories imo. Buterfly era voice is totally different from Emotions era voice. Whitney's voice from the 1980's, is a much different voice from the mid 90's.
LOVED THIS 🤍 Also, under which archetype would you put these singers: 1. Demi Lovato (I'm thinking Neutral, like Ailee and Jade, because her voice isn't always too bright but isn't that dark either; she is also a very versatile singer and has hints of warmth and a more cool, sexy quality to her voice) 2. Leigh-Anne Pinnock (from Little Mix; would probably put Leigh in Warm Bright or Neutral Bright but I'm honestly not very sure) 3. Taylor Swift (definitely Neutral Bright) 4. Celine Dion (probably Warm Neutral but I can't be too sure) 5. Zayn Malik (I'm thinking Warm Neutral since Zayn's voice is quite dark for a tenor but isn't dark or low enough for him to be a baritone; his voice does carry quite a bit of warmth but also a piercing quality, especially when he uses his falsetto) 6. Harry Styles (I suppose he would come under Neutral or Warm Neutral since he seems to be able to access most of his range with ease and a sometimes warm, sometimes cool tone, albeit his vocal technique isn't great)
I love this video!! Thanks for explaining Irene's tone of voice, I love it 💝 Red Velvet is an excellent group because of how their different tones complement each other 💝💛💙💚💜
I would describe myself as warm/ bright. I like to manipulate my sounds but my speaking voice is "naturally" higher for a male. It is my habitual voice but I "could " speak lower. It's not just my pitch but the vowels I tend to choose. I love smiley vowels when singing e aye etc. I love adding nasal qualities. I could add more depth but it doesn't feel right for me sometimes. It isn't the sound I go for ( sorry I'm not Adele.)
Personally I would add weight or when we are talking color saturation to this chart. For example with Dua Lipa and Lady Gaga Dua Lipas voice is really heavy but Lady Gagas is far lighter same with Miley. Tbh I think Miley and Dua Lipa are more of a dark neutral than cool dark. I think Beyonce is a warm dark. The first thing I think of when I hear her voice is warmth but maybe that's just me. This is really fun.
I think it would be good to get into how these voices can actually be characterized. Like "dark" can mean so many things. And the temperature of the voice? For example, I noticed most of the "bright" singers are in the the highest vocal range, aka soprano/tenor, and most of the dark singers had deeper voices.
I enjoyed this video; it felt like a taster to a lot more though! It would be good to hear your opinion on other major, iconic vocalists like Barry White, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Prince, Donna Summer, George Michael, Jennifer Hudson, Lauryn Hill and also Kelly Rowland. In the early days of Destiny's Child Kelly sounded a lot like Beyonce tone-wise but that changed in her mid 20's.
Suggestion. Nature spirits as tribes Fire Tribe-the Salamanders Water Tribe- the Undines Air Tribe- the Sylphs Earth Tribe- the Gnomes Chieftains- Prime Salamander: Whitney Houston Prime Undine: Celine Dion Prime Sylph: Mariah Carey Prime Gnome: Lara Fabian Hahaha for Halloween videos
I get the difference between bright vs dark (basically bright voices have a bit of a higher sitting voice while darker voices sits a bit lower; bright voices also seem to emphasize higher notes and dark voices lower notes), but what is cool vs warm?? I'm guessing it's sharper vs rounder vowels but I'm not sure
Dark vs Bright tone doesn’t effect range. Tone is relative and separate from pitch. Dark voices tend to sound more dramatic, metallic and imposing. Bright voices tend to sound more sweet, youthful and relatable. There’s many singers with dark tone that sing very high such as Sam Smith, Jennifer Hudson & Patti label, but it can be more polarizing because of how powerful and piercing it sounds. Likewise many bright voiced singers have lower range such as Michael Buble or Billie Eilish but it can be polarizing because it’s perceived as boring and overly casual / conversational. The over all goal is to either achieve a neutral tone, or lean into your strengths if you have a very dark or bright voice. This is why John Legend isn’t singing Bruno Mars-ish songs. TLDR; depth of tone determines your vocal color and is very habitual / unique. Pitch is vocal range. Women can hit the baritone just as men can hit the soprano, pitch just has more to do with finding the correct method.
@@Sloppyjoey1 You're right that the brightness or darkness of a voice does not determine the range, but it is related to the natural height and depth of the voice. The lower a voice is, the bigger, denser and darker it will be. The higher a voice is, the brighter, "smaller" and less naturally dense it will be. Hence why a Dramatic Soprano would sound darker than a Lyric Soprano, a Baritone darker than a Tenor, etc, if theyre all singing "naturally", however it is of course possible to manipulate tone color. But the natural darkness or brightness has to do with vocal chord mass. And I wouldn't describe Patti as having a particularly dark voice. Quite bright to me
@@cameron7644 "Natural" is relative, habitual and makes an assumption that 'natural' = universal. A Soprano can live all day in headvoice and a Baritone can live all day in chestvoice, and that's what's "natural" to them. The assumption that a Mezzo/Baritone *has* to have a darker, bigger, denser voice than a Tenor/Soprano is verrrrry outdated. And I say this as a 2nd Tenor (Spinto/Dramatic) who's always taken for a baritone until they can no longer explain the easy B4-D5 belts. If you compare Jennifer Hudson (Soprano) to say, Brandy or Beyonce (Mezzo), the system immediately breaks down and it doesn't even explain half the story. Jhud's voice is clearly denser, darker & bigger than Brandy, yet higher. And Brandy's voice is clearly brighter, smaller & more agile, but lower. Yet they have incredible stamina and it forces us to (inaccurately) assume one or the other is singing incorrectly or doing something unnatural. I won't debate Patti's timbre because it's not really needed to make my point that range and tone are largely separate things. The fach / classical timbre system is an imperialistic, European standard that is largely unfamiliar with higher / darker range & timbre combinations more commonly found in people of African & Asian ancestry. Pitch isn't tone, and correlation isn't cause.
My singing teacher tells me that my voice sounds like Leonard Cohen and i was surprised in a bad way (i dont generally like his voice) - but hey, apparently it sounds ok or pleasant

I believe Seulgi has to be in the cool bright side and Katy has to be leaning to warm dark. Seulgi voice tone is too extreme light soft and feminine why Katy's tone is thicker, warmer and heavy Other than that i guess: -Taylor: cool neutral or cool bright -Selena Gomez: cool dark -Britney: cool bright -Xtina: warm neutral -Jihyo (Twice): Warm bright -Winter, Rosé: cool bright -NingNing: neutral bright An interesting topic!
I understand why you said Beyonce would be dark neutral, she has been so for most of her life but with age and pregnancies, her voice has sweetened/warmed a lot. Post twins she is much warmer. But I understand why you wouldn't have heard her newer tone because her twins were born in 2017 and she hadn't done a lot of live performances since, except the sold out world tour on the run 2 which was in 2018. I saw her live twice during that tour. Listen to global citizen in South Africa which is high quality stuff from the same tour so you can hear the warmth. Bonnie and Clyde is a good example ( any performance from on the run tour 2)

I really appreciate that you bring up korean vocalists for comparison too. personally, singing in Korean is a lot easier since they are a phonetic language to begin with. not sure how people will take that, but I hope you can touch on this when you can, like sprinkle such information where you can. appreciate you!!
I'd say Donna Summer had a very cool neutral voice which might be a reason she's not often considered alongside other Soul singers.
This video made me realize how nuanced voice tones are, I always knew they were but never knew how to describe them
When you can't even determine your personal color for clothes but you're trying to determine your vocals
My goodness, I'm honored yet again! Your knowledge and insight on vocal technique has actually helped so much! Your essays are immaculate (not that I expect anything less)
Warm neutral is definitely my favorite, Perrie Edwards is one of my favorite vocalists of all time. And of course the great Whitney Houston!
Omg it means a lot to me, thank you!
Oh yeah, I can't decide between warm neutral and warm bright!
for blackpink, i personally think:
jisoo: cool dark
jennie: i completely agree w cool natural
rosé: warm bright
lisa: neutral bright
Jisoo is warm dark for me
Very interesting.
80s Whitney warm bright
90s Whitney warm dark
YESSS FINALLY!! we love a pro of colors of voices 😍 you add so much to this community! can’t wait to watch
This was such a beautiful video, I would think Taylor Swift might be a straight neutral. Mariah Carey would fit in a majority of these categories when looking at different eras
Yeah, Mariah is a freaking chameleon over the years!
And Taylor seems like a pretty good pick for Neutral:)
Both are bright~ And since there's John Legend clip, I wanna put it here:
Wendy x John Legend "Written in the stars"
Wendy x Ricky Martin "Vente pa ca"
RV x Ellie Goulding "Close to me"
What category would you put: Annie Lennox. Alison Moyet. Lisa Stansfield. George Michael. Rick Astley. Phil Collins. Enya. Amy Winehouse. Luther Vandross. Freddie Mercury.
Miley gives me warm dark. I lowkey feel a blankie of warm air on my skin in my mind when i hear her
Sohyang gives me cool bright everyday. Her performances of Wild flower, and Bridge over trouble water gave that to me.
Totally agree.
I agree with you. Especially about Miley she sounds warm. But I'd say she is more of a dark neutral tbh she is really versatile.
@@xylypotatohead3947 also there is an aspect of weight too, as well as tessitura, hope people dont think heavy means dark or low means dark.
Mariah done had just about every tone on here 😭 because a album like glitter or music box are way brighter then debut era same with Beyoncé her was was always darker but more bright earlier on
I like that you mentioned Anastacia. She's so great to me. Also nice shoutout to the amazing everglow up.
That snippet of her singing "I'm outta love" without background music sounds so gorgeous!
Bright voices usually uses head/falsetto. Dark uses chest a lot of time. Gaga is insane when it comes to her chest and you can feel it's gravity but has an unsupported head sometimes. Katy is the opposite. She doesn't have much chest and uses brighter tones most often
DO A VIDEO ABOUT TEXTURES !
seeing and hearing Mariah instantly makes me smile.
as usual, amazing video.
btw, tag yourselves guys. I'm neutral bright - I guess.
Omgggg what a BRILLIANT video idea. I’d love to know what timbre/color you’d give my voice eeee I live for these videos 😂♥️
Can you list some neutral brights? There's only Ariana Grande in the video and I'd love to know who else is in this category!
Can I just say that I love your Channel Bro! Always well thought out entertaining content
Ariana her voice is very warm and natrul she can turn her voice in every category
No hahahaha
Maybe hwasa would be a good addition to the warm dark archetype , when you explained it, her song with loco "dont give it" came right to my mind
This is my favourite video of yours!! I can tell you took so much time making it Thankyouu
I’ve been trying to classify my voice in one of these. I think I might be Cool bright. Or warm dark. I can have some sweetness however have a darkness to my voice in my show choir that stands out.
I wonder in what category Lana Del Rey will be? She has very unique voice never heard anyone like her
I've asked myself the same thing, because her voice can go very high and pretty low as well. It tends to sound more warm, at times quite bright...
Warm neutral is my favorite, which explains why I always loved Whitney and Kelly. I don’t know Perrie but the little I’ve heard of her, it sounds like it’d describe her voice too. Mori on the other hand sounds more warm bright to me, along the lines of Mariah and Tori.
I agree that Perries very versatile cause she can manipulate her vibrato to be a bit faster for a more upbeat song or slow it down in a sense for a ballad and same w Whitney she can be dark at times in a sense, but was very versatile in the Sense that she could switch up and sing and genre
And I agree mariah has that warm and bright colour she showed it a lot during butterfly era and music box era imo
And the neutral bright i love how u chose Ariana grande and Justin bieber bc they’re both singers who represent that kind of colour Yk
Your video concepts are always 😍😍. That outro run was smooth🙌🏽
P.s. While Aretha is Queen of soul, her voice also changed. Dionne Warwick too.
Very true!
You should do a version for R&B 90s style (i..e. Toni, Whitney, Deborah, Tamia, Kelli Price )!! 👏🏼 🙌🏽
And stop talking about your voice. You sound fine But if you want more bass, just drop your jaw and project from the back of your throat or bee bop like old school rappers (pulsing from the base side of your throat/ singers vein)😆
By the way I couldn't roll my Rs speaking Spanish for a while but got it down now!! 😃
@@theofficialchriscraig hahaha I think it's mostly because I speak in a foreign language and I try to focus on the pronunciation the most
Enjoy the rest of your day!
Nice concept. I'd like to use it for three of my faves who didn't get to be in this video :
Lara Fabian : I would put her in Warm Neutral
Celine Dion : I think Warm Bright is fitting
Faouzia : I'm less sure of it, but I would say Cool Neutral
Do you agree ?
Pretty accurate I think :)
I came here hoping tofigure out which one fits me, but it's almost impossible to categorize myself 😅 I am very sure I am dark, but then I can also sound very clear and light in my higher register. Help?
Nice concept! And you added back the run at the end 🙏🏽
Beyoncé, Mariah and Whitney could fit in every category they’re very versatile vocally.
Yeah I don’t agree with the category for Beyoncé. Her new song Plastic off the sofa reminds of her DIL days.
i dont think you understand vocal tones lol
Remember, Beyonce's voice got darker after child birth
@@mbaprecious3332her brighter voice was beautiful, but her dark voice is just luxurious and my fav voice ever, alongside gaga
Warm/Neutral, Warm/Dark and Warm Bright are my favorites. I think that Lisa Fischer has a Warm/Dark or Warm/Neutral voice. It's gorgeous! I really liked this video!
Lisa Fischer is one of the greatest vocalist of all time imo .
Loved this video! :D
My FAVOURITES are; Whitney, Mariah, Tori, Perrie and Beyoncé!!!!♥️♥️♥️♥️
What do you all think for Girls' Generation?
Taeyeon - Neutral Neutral (truly encompasses both warm and cool, dark and bright)
Jessica - Neutral Bright (leaning warm)
Sunny - Cool Bright
Tiffany - Neutral Dark (leaning cool)
Hyoyeon - Cool Dark
Yuri - Warm Bright
Sooyoung - Cool Neutral
Yoona - Cool Neutral
Seohyun - Warm Neutral
Seulgi always stood out to me ❤️
Amazes me how Beyonce's vocals are getting better...like the richness now
Mariah's voice went thru like multiple changes over the years, so she can be in many catagories imo. Buterfly era voice is totally different from Emotions era voice. Whitney's voice from the 1980's, is a much different voice from the mid 90's.
LOVED THIS 🤍
Also, under which archetype would you put these singers:
1. Demi Lovato (I'm thinking Neutral, like Ailee and Jade, because her voice isn't always too bright but isn't that dark either; she is also a very versatile singer and has hints of warmth and a more cool, sexy quality to her voice)
2. Leigh-Anne Pinnock (from Little Mix; would probably put Leigh in Warm Bright or Neutral Bright but I'm honestly not very sure)
3. Taylor Swift (definitely Neutral Bright)
4. Celine Dion (probably Warm Neutral but I can't be too sure)
5. Zayn Malik (I'm thinking Warm Neutral since Zayn's voice is quite dark for a tenor but isn't dark or low enough for him to be a baritone; his voice does carry quite a bit of warmth but also a piercing quality, especially when he uses his falsetto)
6. Harry Styles (I suppose he would come under Neutral or Warm Neutral since he seems to be able to access most of his range with ease and a sometimes warm, sometimes cool tone, albeit his vocal technique isn't great)
I’d put Celine as bright somewhere…not sure precisely where but that voice of hers is piercing and powerful.
What about the singers who posseses “sharp bright” voices, for example Zara Larson, Ashley Tisdale, Kesha, Rosé and many more…
According to this essay, Ado's voice is Cool-Dark! Thanks for doing this essay video I hope you do new videos where you describe voices.
Ariana and Justin have such bright tones it’s crazy
astounding analysis, vivid.
This was such a good video concept
Interesting video. 👏
Very interesting video. Just out of curiosity, where would u put Michael Bublé and Christina Aguilera?
Imo, Buble is warm neutral. Christina is cool neutral (not sure)
This is a great video concept!
I love this video!! Thanks for explaining Irene's tone of voice, I love it 💝
Red Velvet is an excellent group because of how their different tones complement each other 💝💛💙💚💜
Anyone else a warm bright?
Literally waited for this topic, cause you often use words like "сold" or "warm" to decribe voices.
you should do one for kpop only
it's the smae vocals
10:54 okay but whats the name of this bop
"Unbothered" 🥰
I was wondering where I'd placed Faouzia. I think she could be warm dark or neutral dark, but I'm kinda bad at telling temperatures apart lol
I think it would be good to get into how these voices can actually be characterized. Like "dark" can mean so many things. And the temperature of the voice? For example, I noticed most of the "bright" singers are in the the highest vocal range, aka soprano/tenor, and most of the dark singers had deeper voices.
I'm sure Tzuyu of twice has a true neutral voice
I enjoyed this video; it felt like a taster to a lot more though!
It would be good to hear your opinion on other major, iconic vocalists like Barry White, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Prince, Donna Summer, George Michael, Jennifer Hudson, Lauryn Hill and also Kelly Rowland. In the early days of Destiny's Child Kelly sounded a lot like Beyonce tone-wise but that changed in her mid 20's.
You should really get into Renee rapp she is a VOCAL BEAST
I think warm dark is my favorite. So lush.
Suggestion.
Nature spirits as tribes
Fire Tribe-the Salamanders
Water Tribe- the Undines
Air Tribe- the Sylphs
Earth Tribe- the Gnomes
Chieftains-
Prime Salamander: Whitney Houston
Prime Undine: Celine Dion
Prime Sylph: Mariah Carey
Prime Gnome: Lara Fabian
Hahaha for Halloween videos
I get the difference between bright vs dark (basically bright voices have a bit of a higher sitting voice while darker voices sits a bit lower; bright voices also seem to emphasize higher notes and dark voices lower notes), but what is cool vs warm?? I'm guessing it's sharper vs rounder vowels but I'm not sure
That's exactly what it is. Colder voices sound metallic and somewhat thin, whereas warmer voices are rounder, and more velvety.
My singing teacher tells me that my voice sounds like Leonard Cohen and i was surprised in a bad way (i dont generally like his voice) - but hey, apparently it sounds ok or pleasant
beyonce's voice really changed throughout the years
yeah tbh i always felt like beyoncé’s is warm
but i see why you think neutral
also, ik this is a weird question but is there somehow any way someone could classify my voice if i sent a short audio clip? lol,, i'm very curious and i can't place it. i think i'm a bright but i don't know which tone.
Will...i know i came to the right place, LLLOOOVE your content and for the last one I think soyong is what you looking for
I believe Seulgi has to be in the cool bright side and Katy has to be leaning to warm dark. Seulgi voice tone is too extreme light soft and feminine why Katy's tone is thicker, warmer and heavy
Other than that i guess:
-Taylor: cool neutral or cool bright
-Selena Gomez: cool dark
-Britney: cool bright
-Xtina: warm neutral
-Jihyo (Twice): Warm bright
-Winter, Rosé: cool bright
-NingNing: neutral bright
An interesting topic!
I think jihyo suits with more warm neutral
I would say Mariah is in between warm neutral and warm bright, leaning to neutral 😊
