    What's interesting is that this show was two months before Southeastern was released, which was recorded in February 2013. So they were sitting on a gold mine and no one in the crowd, myself included, had any idea that this guy was about to release one of the best Americana albums of our time in just a few months.

      Absolutely, not to mention the two great albums in between Southeastern and Reunions.
      I like all of Jason’s albums and the three DBT albums he was on, but The Nashville Sound is my favorite.

    I love seeing this kid exceed all expectations. I learned about him when he first started with the DBT, and I've always had a feeling he was gonna soar. Thank you Amanda for reaching into this man's soul and giving him a rock to cling to.

    This was a true pleasure. I made an album of it (digital) for my collection.
    As much as I enjoyed the horrible harmonies when Jason was a DBT, in his drunken stupor, going a new direction for Jason isbell was a good move.
    I'll go ahead and say it. The Bob Dylan of this age, is Jason .
    Different times, but inspirational.

    I saw this show ,I guess living in North Alabama is what makes his music hit so close to home.Keep on sending all those great tunes . You and the 400 unit are by far true artist singing and playing with heart and straight from the soul.

    This guy consistently delivers both great studio records and live shows. Still amazed at how his voice can suit a full electric Drive-By sound, and then still sound so great in a stripped form with acoustic guitar and fiddle. This set up seems to offer a perfect blend of the two. His interview with Marc Maron lends a great insight into how far his personal journey has come from Drive-By, can't wait to hear what he comes out with in the coming years

    A great American songwriter. I like how he pays homage to some other great American musicians with "Danko Manuel" and then lightens the mood with the Meters classic (also commonly played by the Grateful Dead), Hey Pocky Way.

      I was wondering that too myself -- it looks like they are at some sort of state fair situation. I bet there was some sort of face painting booth and she decided to have some fun and have her face painted -- seems like she has a pretty good sense of humor.

      +sandra sword Amanda Shires is not a regular member of the band, she only sits in for occasional dates and major performances. She is a singer songwriter who releases and tours on her own merit. I think it is important not to make her, or other women artists, an extension of her husband.

      Guy B. She doesn't have any tour dates w Jason for the next 4 months and I may be wrong but I don't think she was touring with Greg allman this time last year. Preference is preference and hate saying this because comparing the two is stupid but as far as vocalist and songwriting accolades are concerned Jason is the best in the country right now.

    • @darlincommitme
      @darlincommitme 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Simply not true. She plays with him occasionally, but he does for her as well. They tour and release their work independently and have said they want to continue that. I prefer his work, but that's my opinion. The new baby may change things, of course, but she is certainly not just a member of his band.
