Thank you for indexing this concert. I saw them at Ryman in 2019. Best concert I have ever attended. Perfect set list, great musicians. Great fans. Just doesn't get better than this.. Almost moved to tears. 👍
In the office along on a Saturday night. Working a hellish project, trying to make it better by listening to Isbell. End up really hearing the lyrics to "The Life you Chose" for the first time. Thinking about a similar situation. Start tearing up. And at that moment, cleaning lady walks into my office to take out the trash. Looking like an unhinged nut case, I just say hello and turn up the song. Thanks, Isbell.
This is quite possibly the best TH-cam concert video I have ever seen. Would have given anything to be there. "Leave your boots by the bed', Jason is at the top of his game.
I was there. The energy in the room was magical. Seen them maybe a dozen times over the years in various venues since that eponymous 400U debut, and this was a special night. I guarantee babies got made after that show.
Was there. Never heard of this guy. I am so thankful I bought tickets for my "better halfs" birthday. It was a total treat and we are fans for life. Amanda was awesome 2. They harmonize so so beautifully
My goodness...musical nirvana. This is as good as music gets. The Mother Church, songs that you feel were written for you, a groove based slammiin' band, all led by a heart felt vocal that could only be delivered by Jason Isbell. You have to have lived to write and sing like that and it's obvious that he has, and paid attention to our human condition while doing it.
I was lucky enough to be there the 2nd night. This was my first time at the Ryman and easily the best concert of my life. His music, his lyrics and of course Amanda playing fiddle made for a concert I'll remember the rest of my life.
Folks, send this to everyone you know that claims to love music, This man, this band is the epitome of music. Every song has its roots planted in my daily life..Thank you, Jason sincerely..
Simply...an amazing performance. People ask how he can give this away for free? Simple...this performance surely won over some new fans. Jason and the 400 Unit delivered. The segment with Songs That She Sang in the Shower and the segue into Cover Me Up was mind blowing. Ethereal.
Heard Jason and the 400 Unit recently in Charlotte and before that in Charlottesville. Simply the best singer/songwriter currently out there. He's setting high bar on poignant lyrics and great live performances.
I love when Jason just decides, hey, I haven't reminded you guys lately that I'm one of the top ten or fifteen guitar players in the world lately, watch this.
And then he's got Sadler to the side of him tearing it up as well! I love how supremely talented people attract others with equal talent. This band is as good as it gets and nobody writes songs like Jason these days!
So, your point is well-taken, and I'm a HUGE fan of Jason Isbell. He is a man of many great talents. But the truth is there are hundreds if not thousands of guys and gals who play the guitar this well. It's like ice cream, its all good, but each of us prefers our favorite flavor. Jason is certainly one of my favorites. That said, not everyone gets to be--or desires to be--a rock star.
@@towen1977 I love that you just implicitly called Jason a "rock star." Because YES! He may sell "Americana" records and win Grammys in that category, but this is every bit a ROCK AND ROLL act taking up the torch from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
There was something in the water in the south from roughly Sept., 1977 until Oct., 1978. Why, you may ask? Sturgill Simpson 8 June, 1978, Jason Isbell 1 Feb., 1979, Derek Trucks 8 June, 1979. Somehow we got really, really blessed. That was a damn fine year!
I saw this tour back in July in Sioux Falls and Cover Me Up brought goosebumps to me that night. Hearing it again here on this video still has the same reaction. I love his music and can't wait to see him over and over again.
The sound is AMAZING! Perfect setting at the Church of Music since we've been blessed with the talent of Jason Isbell /Amanda Shires and his band. Is it possible for a band to sound so much better even in person like these guys? Shivers down my spine.
She was the weak link when she joined the band onstage. After seeing them so many times recently without her and rewatching this show, I truly believe they are even better without her. More guitar and Sadler is a better backing vocalist. Love this band!
My wife and I were here for our tenth anniversary. I tweeted him 4 or 5 times the week before and requested that song for us. Looking at the setlists for the 6 nights at the ryman that was the only night he played it. Coincidence?
I’m a musician from the shoals area too & you’d hear about Jason all the time. Blah, blah, blah, right? Idk if it’s bc I was a hack musician or what but I didn’t like him… ftr I’ve never met him or anything… two months ago I had a friend go on & on about this cat so I decided to check his music out (you know, to prove my friend wrong) & I be gah damn! Ppl can change their minds. I agree he’s probably the best songwriter of our time. Good job Jason & the 400 Unit. Y’all make me proud to be from the shoals.
Look forward to his concerts in Oslo in November. The set here is fantastic, a great mix between previous hits and the main songs from his last album (which is a classic in itself). If there is anything that could be better, it might be that they played for 20 to 30 more minutes in total, to get it just past a couple of hours. There is plenty material. As so many mention, Isbell is such a great writer, but he also seems to be a good storyteller and could use the stage just slightly more in that capacity - just one or two stories about a couple of the songs, musical influence from grand father growin' up etc. But that's just me, and it is a very, very minor suggestion to improve the live show - to differentiate further from recordings (I like the way some of the songs evolves live, some are clearly different from the album, which is a good thing). The best song writer of his generation.
TH-cam has some great stuff, but these are precious. I just wished I could afford the show in Berkeley June 8th. I'll catch you somewhere down the road...

Thanks Stephen👍👍
Jason Isbell has to be one of the greatest artists of all time. Each song, every lyric just reaches my soul in a different kind of way.
every so often I discover an artist and am immediately furious that I missed out on years of enjoying them.
Lucky to have seen Jason and The 400 in my capital, Edinburgh, a couple of months ago……best gig ever…..Professional, slick, moving…….👍🏴🎸🇺🇸

OMG this song - I guess it's the anthem for many of us and our lives. How does Jason see into our hearts/minds?
This is quite possibly the best TH-cam concert video I have ever seen. Would have given anything to be there. "Leave your boots by the bed', Jason is at the top of his game.

Agree!!
Was there. Never heard of this guy. I am so thankful I bought tickets for my "better halfs" birthday. It was a total treat and we are fans for life. Amanda was awesome 2. They harmonize so so beautifully
Yeah she brought it that night, too. What a special show!
Agree!!
Wow, just blow me away awesome. I haven't felt this enthusiastic about an artist since Springsteen released Born to Run.

Joe kelly Mobile AL?
100% with you, Joe. Jason's music tames my wild beast in a way almost nothing else does. I could listen to him all day long! (and often do!!!!)
I can watch this over and over and over again.....
Hodge Halili I have been

Wow!!! Agree

Amen, brother….👍🎸🏴🇺🇸
Who in their right mind could dislike this?! One of the finest groups of all time
Agree!!!!!!!!!!!!

The way Jason and Amanda look at each other thru If We Were Vampires is some serious #RelationshipGoals.
I'm from Tuscumbia but currently live in Colorado. I will see you guys at Red Rocks ;) Jimbo you're a legend 🔥🎶
Heard Jason three times -- PERFECTION. Beautiful lyrics, powerful performance. Can't wait until the next time.
I love when Jason just decides, hey, I haven't reminded you guys lately that I'm one of the top ten or fifteen guitar players in the world lately, watch this.
so true. his playing is simply terrific. cannot get enough.

i am really at a loss for words. this is too good. thank you to the uploader and Jason for singing these wonderful songs.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit for sharing this amazing concert with your fans!!! I'm in Georgetown, TX.
Wow!!ThankYou
Reading PA, 20 minutes away!! Sure hope he sings Live Oak. I'm a 60/70's rock and roll fan but love his music!!
Thank you Jason and Amanda, the 400 Unit , for adding some much needed light to this dark October night.
A fan for life.
!!!!!!!Awesome!!!!!
I love Jason- sounds like he was really excited to start 24 frames faster than normal. Drum and bass brought him back to earth!!
Cover Me Up remains the greatest song of our generation.
I wholeheartedly agree.
It's a very good song, but IMHO it's not even the best song in this set.
AGREE!!!
Kenneth Parker Sturgill is amazing
There is always something in the water down south. Oppression, Struggle and a shit load of free time make for AMAZING musicians
Not disagreeing but there's been something in the Muscle Shoals water for a long, long time.
I saw this tour back in July in Sioux Falls and Cover Me Up brought goosebumps to me that night. Hearing it again here on this video still has the same reaction. I love his music and can't wait to see him over and over again.
My God! wow! I f’n love this band. Every one of these guys is awesome.
agree
This is as good as music gets right here!!! In today's sea of calculated, cookie cutter artists, there is Jason Isbell... Thank God!!!!
The sound is AMAZING! Perfect setting at the Church of Music since we've been blessed with the talent of Jason Isbell /Amanda Shires and his band. Is it possible for a band to sound so much better even in person like these guys? Shivers down my spine.
A set list that was heavy on Something More Than Free. I was a happy guy.
And.... "Songs She Sang"!
but no Children of Children :(
I love how honest the cinematography is so honest here. Totally raw and honest . And an awesome concert from this genius of a musician!
agree
Possibly the best live concert ever uploaded 🙏🙏
Agree!
Amanda is so bad ass! Love this band -- in its entirety!
She was the weak link when she joined the band onstage. After seeing them so many times recently without her and rewatching this show, I truly believe they are even better without her. More guitar and Sadler is a better backing vocalist. Love this band!
Hi Jason ! you have a new fan ( from France ). I love your (old style Rock country music.. ) and hope to see you live in France !
Agree!!
Just got turned on to your music going thru the tiny desk concerts, dude yer freaking awesome.
Awesome!
Chad Gamble is an extremely underrated drummer. Guy is so solid on the skins! Tears it up on Anxiety!
he tears it up on High Road too
I love the double loud boom boom in Cover Me Up. Nice touch. Adds to the intensity of the song. Take care.
An understatement if I've ever heard one!
Two words: "Cumberland Gap."
Two more: Freight train.
'Nuff said.
And he didn't get a nice introduction :(
We were there on this night. What a great show. Thanks to the band for an awesome night.
Seen him live 3 times and now this. Enjoy it a little more each time. You won't find better lyrics in any genre.
Darrell Newman truth!
I can't wait until NYE when l get to see him!
WOW!!!
Awesome! As someone who lives too far away to attend any of the current tour dates, this is greatly appreciated. Sound and camera work also is great
Thanks for your sincere compliment and love, I’m not complete without you as my Fan 🌹🎻 I have you to be most thankful for 🎻 🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎶🎶🎶
Fantastic show
Hell of a concert. That version of "Shower" kills.
Good music is still alive and well thanks to bands like this
Can't believe he played Relatively Easy. Hauntingly beautiful.
My favorite of his.
My wife and I were here for our tenth anniversary. I tweeted him 4 or 5 times the week before and requested that song for us. Looking at the setlists for the 6 nights at the ryman that was the only night he played it. Coincidence?
Amazing story! Thanks for sharing. I'm glad he played your song.
one of my all-time favorites!!
I agree.
I watched the stream live. All I can say guys is that this is awesome, awesome awesome!
That was great. Still have my ticket for the June show here so looking forward to the rain date.
I love the smile at 1:16:02. That's the smile of someone who loves what they do

We all supported Jimbo at the Limelight in Muscle Shoals Alabama, ahhh back in the day. We were 15 (:
Who are the 14 musical illiterates, clapping on the one and the three, that voted this down?
As a drummer,....I really, REALLY hate one and three clappers. I think that's a white thing.
You win the Jason Isbell portion of the internet.
Haha!!
They are forming a castles made of sand cover band.
Cannot wait to be there in October!!!
Roll on Wednesday 25th Oct in Manchester UK. One of the best bands in the world right now...!!
Song's she sang in the shower!!! Love it!
Songs*
Great show! We had a blast
To the people who gave this a thumbs down. Want to tell us what’s
much better than this? 🤔 I didn’t think so. Good-night.
Maybe they don’t like all the slower songs? Personally I’m just here for Super 8
JIMBO!!!!!!! YOU ARE AWESOME AWESOME AND SO IS THE OTHERS LOL
Unreal show. Best part is at 1:43:27 when the camera makes it appear Jimbo is either shrunken in size or singing into a super huge microphone.
You won the internet for today.
Thanks again for the great show at the Mosque/Altria Theater last Friday night. Really. Seriously. THANKS!
Now I'm going to have to take that flight from Zurich to Amsterdam to catch them in month!!
Wow!!! For free ??!!?? Crazy
Just nobody better at the moment...that's it...London 30th Oct, can't wait.
graciousfew you are in for a treat I seen him in August and cried almost the whole time I was so happy.
Went to Manchester on Wednesday. You will absolutely love it. No one better at the moment.
Just an absolutely amazing show all around, but way to go having Amanda Shaw! Represent Texas!
Awesome .....Then again I expected Awesome

So freaking great!
Actually cant wait to see him in Dublin in 2 weeks ❤️❤️
Rebecca Beirne so jealous! Enjoy!
show starts at 7:00 min mark
Fantastic songwriter with a superb band
that drummer is so good
Love you guys!
I _almost_ made it though vampires without crying _almost_
good show!
Ain’t no filler in any of this. I wanna make a book of all these lyrics. And then get somebody to explain how this band works.
Agree!! Wow
Dang. So damn talented. If I don't catch him & the 400 when I get a chance, I'm a complete idiot. Lol Seriously so good.
Anybody got a set list yet? I watched this live and it was as good as we could hope for.
the guy at the end screaming "oh my god" is the best
Does this mean Ashwin didn't make the cut at his Tiny Desk audition?
haha. Ashwin didn't need a capo.
Poor lil fellar
😄
Maybe could have made it if he had more than four fingers
Love, love, love!!
TH-cam has some great stuff, but these are precious. I just wished I could afford the show in Berkeley June 8th. I'll catch you somewhere down the road...
Fantastic show. I think this might be the only show I've ever seen of his where he didn't play a DBT song, interestingly.
I love the fact he's got a logo just like Bob Dylan did for years!
This setlist + Dreamsicle & River. I'd hand over a blank check.
Perfection
Amanda Shires ROCKS
So sad to hear about him and Amanda splitting up - they are so wonderful on stage.
Me too I was hearbroken💔
I feel terrible! I'm starting to look forward to old rockers dying so Jason can cover them in his encores.
Wonderful
24 Frames is a great opener, btw.
This is how you do it.
Anybody got a PDF of all these lyrics?I will pay.
See y'all up in Buffalo!
ahh man- wheres the setlist timestamp guy? He call off again?
36 people are dyslexic and think a "thumbs down" is actually a "thumbs up".
Check out The Milk Carton Kids
My daddy's family was from Alabama.my last name is Isbell I wonder if he is a lost cuzion of mine
Jason aside - that is one smoking band - just smoking.
Starts 6:58
Anyone got the set list?
God damn, I have the biggest man-crush on Jason right now. Sheesh. Come to Toronto please!
Me too bro!!
Great fuckin band, all the way around!
Who is playing what instruments ? and is this the line up that will be playing in February 2018
