You forgot super accuracy. Times when the AI suddenly has the ability to make perfect head shots across the map with a sawed off shotgun. The best is when a main boss character in a fighting game has some special moves and then when you unlock it those moves aren't available.

One of my gripes is when the accuracy of the AI is not affected by soft visual obstructions.
The AI is going to be tracking and firing at you just as accurately no matter what. It does not matter whether you are standing in a flat, open, sunny, bright desert; or if you are standing in a deep, dimly lit forest at dusk with thick mist and hiding behind some tall grass.
This is why I prefer to fight during bright and sunny days if the game gives me the option, because things like foliage, glare, darkness, mist etc doesn't affect the AI's accuracy or tracking, yet it can massively impede a human's tracking and accuracy.

He tells you he’s not the sergeant and sends you on this quest to find him throughout the entire city, but if you ask the wrong guy it sends you into a 20+ second loading screen for a one sentence cutscene before sending you into another 20+ second cutscene just to tell you you failed. Then you have to ask him again, loading screen, cutscene, loading screen, THEN you can try someone else.
Repeat this cycle ad nausea until you ask him again if he is the sergeant and then he’ll finally say yes. This quest is designed to take less than 10 minutes and can easily take 2 hours to complete.

My single biggest pet peeve with a games gameplay is when it "makes" you lose, not as part of some story event, but because the enemy has an "instantly win the fight" button they just don't push most of the time. Like, I've been replaying Skyrim on legendary difficulty lately, and the way the dragons will just EXECUTE you from full health with their bite attack, locking you in place and disabling your controls to do so. It actually frustrates me more feeling like the enemy could instantly win at any point and the only reason I have a chance is they are choosing not to. This has been my weird little rant, thank you.

The most annoying one that I was surprised wasn't included in the video: input reading.
You play a fighting game and the AI reads your inputs and reacts to them. There is basically no way to win other than finding a flaw in their script and exploit it. Like baiting a certain move over and over again and punish it. It makes you win, but doesn't make you feel you play a real match.

I’m not sure if this relates to the topic here, but one of my pet peeves is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s CPUs. Even at level 2 they act as if they’re like level 5 or so, being surprisingly aggressive and almost always going after me instead of each other especially when they have their final smash ready (and they’re surprisingly accurate in landing them too).

    • @JimmyCrackorn
      @JimmyCrackorn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

Ah, the old okie doke they've been using on us for 30 years. It's broken my spirit, yet still I play. It was even worse in the old beat 'em up games. Some were so aggressive with it that they attached adds to your controls in such a way as to make you attack yourself. In Super Double Dragon, the enemies didn't follow you after they set up a pincer, which was every fight, you literally controlled them too, so that they couldn't break formation. And if you hit an attack button during that, they would attack at the exact same time. So, if you punched one, the one behind you always punched you because it was connected to your attack buttons the whole time, not the one in front of you. If you blocked the one in front of you, your block connected to the one behind you, so it attacked at the exact same time you pressed the block button. You had to memorize the sequence and beat them all *before* they got the pincer formed. If you didn't, the game was impossible to beat until you finally memorized it.
The level of rage is indescribable. (I used present tense because I played it recently on an emulator. Damn near ripped my computer in half)

Under 'incorrect information', you forgot the particularly egregious X-COM.
The game keeps track of how well you're doing in a mission, and then applies a multiplier to the stated hit chance. If you're doing well, it'll decrease you hit chance, and if you're doing poorly, it'll increase your crit chance to increase the likelihood of a 'clutch' shot. Half of you suddenly shouted either 'you don't understand statistics' or just 'get gud', but the other half recall that the devs *actually stated this is happening* and that the displayed hit chance is NOT the actual hit chance.
Doing this makes the game less of a strategy game and more of a narrative, and I get that some people want that. I don't. If I absolutely nail the strategy in a strategy game, I'm not a fan of being punished for it.

Remastered only, can't confirm for original. If you can stay in the top 3-5 until the end of the third lap, there are storyline events that trigger to wipe out cars 1-3, so you didn't even have to be first the whole time.

I mean it wasn't that big of an obstacle, but it still left a sour taste. And in Mario Kart, the items always hit you in the worst spots (e.g. in the middle of a jump over a big gap)

The only way to fight back against ghosts, who are cursed beings, is to become cursed oneself." , also right after that you get another two behind a wall of the first staircase, like every noob i had a lot of problems in Dark Souls on my first playthrough but that one i found it easy because its a shinny right as you enter and you just had a new item so you probably will look on the inventory what you got and read it. But yeah for the immortal skeletons i only found it out after i beat the game and read it in the wiki .^^

The classic situations of RTS games giving the AI dangerous advantages: I'm predominantly a turtle kind of player, where I sit back and build up heavy defenses, but it's annoying when they spam so many units that you don't have the credits to do anything other than build defenses. When they destroy my harvesters yet I can't do jack to theirs. And, especially in the earlier Command and Conquer games, in a skirmish match, I've been eliminated with high-tech units fast enough that I can't even get a mid-tech building or unit out due to build times and human reaction times. Or when the AI spams nuclear missiles or Particle Cannons or SCUD Storms or what have you in Generals... yeah, that's hell in its basest form. Especially on Brutal difficulties.

That's stealth. There's none of that in New Vegas, no matter your perks and/or level. I really like NV but stealth sucks in it.

@@abloodynova7625 had a race down a volcano in Horizon 5 the other day. As soon as the race started, the AI in front of me threw it into reverse and blocked me. So yeah, they're pretty garbage.

@@abloodynova7625 well, something that happened to me in dirt races with the closest cars to +999 is that it is impossible to get the first place, on some races, u dont have enough acceleration, u cannot make the car stay on the ground so u have to brake a little but not the IA, they go straigh and fast as devil, but ok i taked off all the assist on the difficulty because i hate the lines of help, i hate any control i cant have of the car, i hate the automatic brake of some games and i hate any automatic correction of road that any assist can do, its like going on a train, i dont want that and the lines of help just break all the inmersion of the game and i play in first person too, but, believe me man.. forzas, gran turismo, asseto are games made for steering wheels because playing with a keyboard or joystick its fucking hard, u have to do millons of micro ajustments for any curve.

As far as I am aware the skeletons in the catacombs stay dead without the need of a divine weapon if the local necromancer is dead(the guy near the first catacomb bonfire is one). And i think the necromancers don't re-spawn.

I think its more of just the mechanics like with nito's boss fight were he constantly spawns and revives his minions its just really annoying to deal with. Edit: rewatched the section he just talks about how it doesn't tell you about stuff and that is just kinda annoying.

An add on about the Civilization games(at least the most recent one), the difficulty button basically just buffs ai units and cities. I'm pretty sure it also just allows the ai to KNOW where all your units are or what to do exactly without knowledge they should have.

In Skyrim, you sneak up on a enemy and shoot two arrows in his back, the enemy run towards you and you only need to hit him once more, you pull the bow and *smoffs*, the arrow just stop just in front of you and drop to the ground; it's a invisible wall only affecting arrows and it is annoying, sometime you can open a door and see an enemy sitting in a chair, it is a straight and clear line to the target, but again the arrow just drop down at you feet and the enemy is alerted.
It still easy to take out the enemy with a battle axe, but that hidden mechanics is the most annoying part of being an archer in Skyrim.

Anybody who plays EA knows scripting is absolutely a thing and always has been. Even in Madden. You can be shutting down the cpu but every 2 minute drill they turn into Joe Montana🤦🏾‍♂️
