በ1976 ወይም 1984 በወር ውስጥ በውቃው እዝ ሁለት ግዜ ውግያ ተደርገዋል የመጀመርያው የሻብያ ጥቃት ሲኸሽፍ ሁለተኛው ጥቃት ግን ውቃው በደምብ ተመቶ የፈረጠጠበት ግዜ ነበር
At 49 minute, he says General Hussein was told he was flying to Keren, but the helicopter changed its course and flew to Saudi Arabia instead.
I want your listeners to know true history. We respect the general. But we deserve the truth as well. So here is the truth from witness Generals and colonels who were in the helicopters. The witnesses say, the General told the pilot to fly to keren to organize the army there to fight. But once in the air, the General told the pilot to change course and fly to Dhahlak Island instead. General Hussein ordered this, according to witnesses in the helicopter who went with the general.
Then the general told the pilot to land in Saudi Arabia. The general made calls to the Saudi border security units to make sure the helicopter was not fired upon by Saudi anitaircraft battery. They were welcomed and taken by Saudi security once allowed to land in Saudi Arabia.
Keep his history intact and don't play with words to make it incorrectly sound like general Hussein didn't order the helicopter flight to Saudi himself.
But it may be true that he did so after trying everything he could given the Eritrean forces were destined to enter Asmara by fighting or by having the remaining Ethiopian army surrender, he decided to leave his army behind and take a safe flight. The other generals were on the same day, Thursday, May 15, 1983 EC, fleeing with their armored vehicles, water tanks, and cash towards the border with Sudan where they surrendered, while many were cut off by the chasing Eritrean forces in the lowlands of Eritrea before reaching Sudan border and were made POWs and eventually released to go home by the Eritreans. Many died of hunger and thirst in the hot eritrean lowlands there, tragic as General Hussien and his companies landed safely in Saudi where they stayed in Saudi military camp as asylees until the general miraculously, yes!, won one of the first Diversity lottery visa (Divi lottery) to the USA.

Why are people trying to make hero out a general not only ones but twice abandoned his army and chose to save himself? He is not hero. He is a coward who betrayed whose men. The role he played in the failed 1989 coupe is not honorable either. If you are looking for hero, look at the story of General Teshome Tessema who fought to the bitter end with his men. That is what true hero do.
