@@Rishi440 I decided to go light, 10 and 15, so I can see how tough it is with those. I’m almost down to my goal weight so I’m ready to focus on building up some muscle now.
I'm currently doing calisthenics man, i have a pull up bar, dip bar, 40kg weight plates with rods and gymnastic rings. I wanna get jacked like you, do you have any tips? Any help is much appreciated
Calisthenics are great and will definitely get you jacked. With calisthenics specifically there are a few strategies that I use. Here are some ideas: - Endurance workout: Nickels and Dimes EMOM. So you set a time period, be it 10mins, 20 mins, or more and at the top of every minute you do 5 pull-ups and 10 pushups - Interspace Calisthenics in your workouts: So let’s say you’re having a day where you’re doing legs and shoulders (or something like that), no matter what the exercise is, superset it with 5 pull ups. For you I’m assuming 5 pull-ups is a number you can comfortably do without getting tired. Let’s say your workout is approx. 20 sets, what ends up happening is you get 100 extra pull-ups in by the end, which is a lot of additional volume. You can do this same concept with weighted pull-ups which will increase the volume so much more - Use your weight plates to do weight plate halos. Those around the head movements that I do with maces and clubs help build a wide back and shoulders, similar contraction can be achieved with plate halos -Carry your plates around: Put them in a backpack and walk for a decent time, if you get tired, drop them down 30-40 pushups and keep going for some pre decided duration. Maybe stack all the plates and carry them around, which you need to be more careful about but it’s a intense movement
With some exercises you can and for others a dumbbell is just too awkward. For example, with kettlebells you can do a lot of movements where you can switch hands in the middle of the exercise like Hand to Hand kettlebell swings, figure 8 swings etc. a lot more comfortably. For the kettlebell exercise that I did in this video, a dumbbell can be used to perform the same movement, in fact it’s based on an old school exercise that Indian wrestlers performed with dumbbells called “Dambal Rumali” (Dumbbell Swings)
