Did you notice any unburnt powder in the 30 grain , 7/8 oz shots? The velocity seemed a bit low and Longshot usually likes heavier payloads. I'll usually get around 1400 with 30 gr. with a 1 oz slug. Very interesting results!

@@taofledermaus now that you mention it, there was quite the spread in velocity. I’m hoping it was the powder and now how I loaded them (possibly didn’t push the gas seal down enough 🤷🏻‍♂️). Looks like more testing must be done ✅

@@3RBallistics I've had shells where the slug was light and used longshot and only the primer went off before. As long as you don't have air space in your powder, the gas seal doesn't need to be rammed into the powder, in other words.

      @@taofledermaus Hi guys,
Been using Titewad for CAS loads up to 1oz. It will do up to 1 1/8 but not super high velocities and its cheap!

Regarding the nij iii steel plate, it was predictible, as we discussed earlyer on discord, both the low velocity -high mass tend to play into the realm that steel perform very well in, and the penetrator being close enough to the target in hardness (instead of having significantly more) cause that it can t zip trough like butter, and so yeah, it end up with the steel being able to take it
But we can see against allu alloy that the penetrator does play it s role and allow to zip trough

7000 series aluminum is WAY stronger than 6000… almost as strong as mild steel. Aluminum does make GIF armor for slower projectiles though add it absorbs a ton of energy.

@@meanman6992 I have 7075 T-6 aluminum but it seems too brittle and usually cracks as its failure method against heavy loads. While 7075 does stop the projectile the 6061 seems to be more ductile with absorbing tendencies. I also have some 2024 that works great as well.
