TOP 10 ISLAMIC BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Muhammad by Karen Armstrong - amzn.to/2Qtczmt
This is 1 out of 2 of the first books I bought before converting, along with a Quran of course. I remember quickly running to the religion section of Barnes and Noble so I could make the purchase before anyone noticed. This book is an in depth comprehensive look at the life of the Prophet (sws), but at the same time is an easy read to understand and work through. Most of my fundamental knowledge of our Prophet (sws) came from this book!
    2. The Heart of Islam by Seyyed Hossein Nasr - amzn.to/2OyBVxI
This is a beautiful text covering the fundamentals of Islam from a Sufi perspective. It talks about everything from worship, to how we interact with others, to the art of war. A really stunning account of our faith that I learned a lot from.
    3. No God but God by Reza Aslan (It’s on sale!) - amzn.to/2QuzjCP
So this is the 2 of the first 2 books I bought before converting, and it is my favourite to this day. It covers the entire history of Islam, as well as gives a detailed summary of the life of our Prophet (sws), while also delving into current political discourse. Aslan absolutely nails it with this book - I cannot recommend it enough. Incredibly written and so informative (I’ve read it about 3 times!).
    4. Reflections by Gai Eaton - amzn.to/2JPd0oJ
This is another composition from a Sufi-convert perspective, that was collected by his children after he passed away. This book is really what the title says - reflections: on life, faith, spirituality, and more. A stunning read, my husband really loved it as well. This is also one you could read over and over.
    5. Intention, Sincerity and Truthfulness by Al-Ghazali - amzn.to/2OwFpAE
Basically, anything by Al-Ghazali, and I highly recommend watching the film about his life (available on Alchemiya). This book is one of a huge collection covering Islamic principles, and while it is a hefty read with rich language, it definitely worth it. Though I recommend highlighting or taking notes!
    6. The Man in the Red Underpants by A.R. Green - amzn.to/2QuXi4w
This book is the epitome of don’t judge a book by its cover! Even reading the first few pages you might be unsure of where it’s going, so I won’t spoil it for you! It’s a very short read that can be completed in less than a day, but very thought provoking and helps simplify Islam for those who may be just learning.
    7. Lost Islamic History by Firas Al Khateeb (on Sale!) - amzn.to/2RLB3aY
Stepping away from the faith based side and covering Islam in History (as the title clearly states), this is a very cool book if you’d like to learn more about Islam in the world, the rise and fall of empires, and the achievements of the Message.
    8. Reclaim your Heart by Yasmin Mogahed - amzn.to/2QuXDUQ
Is it really an Islamic book collection without some Yasmin Mogahed? But do not be fooled, this book is not just for the broken-hearted! It is for anyone who may be relying on anything other than Allah for their happiness, and is a complete iman booster in a book.
    10. The Sealed Nectar by Safiur Rahman Mubarakpuri (only £4!) - amzn.to/2JPcSFL
Another summary of the life of our Prophet (sws), but very beautifully written and detailed. Goes in depth regarding his character and morale, as well as the hardships he faced so that we may learn to appreciate all he sacrificed so that Islam could live.
That’s all for now! My top 10 Islamic book recommendations. Additionally, I always get asked which Quran’s I use, and I use a few different ones for different things.
For translation (meaning/explanation) - this is a beautiful version by Ahmed Ali, very poetic. amzn.to/2SWKUvZ
For recitation/reading (in Arabic) - any mushaf will do! amzn.to/2SSpvE2
For transliteration (before I could read Arabic) amzn.to/2Pmw4k7
I am currently seeking help to pay off my debts with very high interest rates, if you are able to help or share please read my story here: gofund.me/8f7a01ae

Amazing content! I recommend to read the last book: the sealed nectar... When you actually understand how hard the life of the prophet peace be upon him and his companions was... how they sacrificed their lives, time, families, homes, money, basically everything so that WE, later on, are free and can practice Islam wherever we want ... gives me goosebumps and life time gratitude for all of them! it helps appreciating and realizing how rich we are with Islam! Alhamdulilah!

Thal Lu if you are addicted you won’t be able to just quit, you need to learn to do things in moderation. Start listening to less music than you usually would. You should try listening to podcasts or audibles. It doesn’t have to anything Islamic related, it can be anything of your interest. Podcast I’d recommend is the mad Mamluks, boys in the cave, Mohamed Ghilan. Remember even if you find that you don’t completely quit, the fact that u listen less and are no longer addicted is a big achievement.

I have read Inside the Soul of the Islam by Mamoon Yusaf which was very good. Reading at the moment A handbook of a Healthy Muslim Marriage by Abdur-Rahman Ibn Yusuf Mangera. It is about the search for a partner, what you should look for in a partner, how you get help from your parents or family, what a woman wants from a man and what a man needs from a woman. Problems in marriage and how to solve them. About kids and in-laws. Divorce. Very interesting book. Much love. xx

Please don't tell us ur thinking of conversion for ur husband or fiance?

    • @irmabronder
      @irmabronder 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@Onlyme2015 Why would someone do that? At the end you are always responsible for your own actions. Thank you for your concerns. There is a difference in being born Muslim and choosing to be Muslim. When you choose for it, you go for something for the full 100%. I might even have more knowledge than a random born Muslim. Allah brought me through a long way of exploring religions. Being born in an atheist family, you get your family's values and thoughts on you. You believe as a child that they are right. So Allah showed me all the good things of the religions and I can tell you that it doesn't really matter which religion you follow as it is just a path for the body. We are spiritual beings and the religion of your soul is LOVE. The religion of God is Love. He want you to spread love and do everything out of love. I have studied every religion and have accepted Islam through Sufism. My esoteric knowledge of Islam is growing enormously because I have a great Master. Only Allah is in my heart. The worldly things I love aswell, but not as much as Allah. And having knowledge about all other religions, makes me an ideal person to spread love to everyone in society. God wants us to love each other. Every person needs to believe in God. This can be by being Muslim, Christian, Jew, Hindu, Buddhist, Jain or anything else, you simply need to understand the spiritual side of the religion and you will see that every religion is the same. Everyone might call God different, but at the end their is only 1 God. Islam or any other religion is just a bunch of rituals for the body and when you focus on the esoteric knowledge of the religion you will really understand your religion for deep in and not the superficial things of doing Salat, Hajj, fasting, reading Qur'an. Clerical staff in the mosque has only exoteric knowledge of Islam. They teach you the rituals and focus on if you do something wrong. They focus on rituals and Satan. Allah is not spreading fear. He spreads love. If you are Muslim, you should be really proud that there are such people like me, who see how religions should be understood. Spirituality would save the world from everything that is not so nice like hunger, war. It simply depends on your parents knowledge of the religion as this would be thought to you. This is what people spread onto the next generation. But people do not realise that their religion is sometimes so much more, but they thought their parents has thought them everything. Being born as a Muslim doesn't mean that Allah is also in your heart. The results you can see all over the world, if Muslims would have complete knowledge and understanding of the Qur'an and do not follow any sect like Sunni or whatever "Muslims" has made up, living on Earth would be so much better and how Allah has meant it to be. I am an Ummat-e-Rasool. He told you how to get the knowledge of Islam through the gateway of spirituality. I am the city of knowledge and Ali is the gateway. Do you know why Ali was the Gateway? I hope that everyone start valuing new ummati. Some of them might be able to bring some value to the religion. I hope I helped you. This is what a true Ummati does help and let the judging over to Allah. Focus on the qualities of Allah and not on that of Satan. I wish you a wonderful life and that you may be happy. Much love.

@@irmabronder we welcome anyone in our community. but am telling u for ur own good. do NOT convert for a guy. If he wants u to convert, then find another guy. Only convert if YOU WANT TO and convinced of the religion. We still welcome u regardless whether ur a muslim or not. please do us all a favor and dont do it for a guy.
Real question, and God is your witness. Are you, or have you ever been, romantically attached to a Muslim man?

@@Onlyme2015 I accepted Islam for myself. My partner did not even knew I wanted to accept Islam or that I was looking into religions. Religion was never a point of concern in our relationship. He is accepting me how I am. He never ever asked me what religion I have or even if I was believing in God at all, which I did for many years of my life. He loves me for being me. As his partner it is my job to bring him closer to God and to accept my partner as he is. And God is my witness of accepting Islam for myself. My partner has never been a reason for excepting the religion that he follows. You only accept what fits your own being. God only guides people when they are ready. I do not accept any influence from others than my spiritual master as I am on my own path and I let God guide me. I trust God and that he is giving me a wonderful life. For now that is with my 5 kids. God gave me 5 beautiful kids to raise. And if there is one in our relationship to follow the path of God then that would be me, not my partner. My dream is to bring awareness of the importance of spirituality in life and how it will connect people all over the world and through all religions. God loves everyone. He guides the ones who has God in their hearts. And I am very proud that I finally has put my beliefs of my childhood aside. There is still time to show my kids the importance of believing in God. Whoever they might choose as God. Spirituality will bring everyone closer to God. May you also find love and peace with Allah. There are serious people that choose Islam for themselves. That you might have heard stories about people accepting Islam for someone else is just ridiculous. You came in the world alone and you will die alone. Always choose for yourself. You are the most important person in your own life. I accepted Islam on the 6th of Shawwal. This will be the most important day of my life. Much love. xx

Should read After the prophet. Legit it’s an unbiased view of what happened after the prophets death. Legit it’s funny how people who obviously don’t know the history of Islam get mad.
