    What are the brass pipes on either side ? Some sources say they’re vents and need to be kept open and others say they’re oil/vac and should be capped if not in use ?

    • @TheMotorcycleForge
      @TheMotorcycleForge  17 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @jacksrcat They are most likely float bowel vents if they go down to the bottom and need to be kept open.
      If they go into the engine side of the carb they are vacuum fitting and if open will cause an air leak.
      Moat likely float vents, just blow air in them and see where they go.

    How to tune for more top end power opposed to low end power?

    • @TheMotorcycleForge
      @TheMotorcycleForge  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That is more along the lines of what parts you have on the bike vs what jets are in your carb, as long as you have the carb dialed in it should work at all engine speeds.
      I 2mm oversize carb from stock will move the power to more top end, a shorter intake length and shorter exhaust are common ways that engine tuners move the power higher up for more top end.
      Hope this helps.

    Wondering if you have any experience with blow through pwk? Mines working fine but I switched to e85 and fuel flow is up a good bit. Wondering if I can make an extension for the power jet if you will. to get it closer to half throttle and maybe get the main jet size down some? Also hoping for a bit more charge cooling although I know that's minimal. Currently I'm at a 230 main and 35powerjet but I feel the power jet isn't coming in until 90% throttle. Then it goes from a touch lean (good for spool up but not so nice when I peddle the bike at 40+psi of boost) to a good mixture. You think adding some length to it would achieve this? I can make new powerjets for different sizes pretty easy. I'd like to get it closer to a 180 main and maybe a 70 PJ if I can. Boost comes on about the same as throttle input.

    More low end grunt of the Carb trumpet is longer.

    • @TheMotorcycleForge

      It does make a difference to have the correct length to suit your cam timing, how much I'm not quite sure yet.
      I plan to have a dyno in the near future and will test then.

    Help please! I have a Honda Ruckus with a stock GET 49cc 4-stroke. I put a PZ16 carb on it. After swapping the stock 35/75 jets for 38/78, it starts and idles good, and runs great at full throttle. The only problem I'm having is that sometimes, usually after a good hard run, it sputters at midrange, around 5000 - 6000 rpm. If I back off or give it more throttle, it smooths right out. I'm thinking this might be a needle clip issue, but I'm not sure which way to go. Hoping you can give me a clue, so I don't have to resort to trial-and-error. Seems to only do this at full operating temp and after being wide open for a while. Thanks!!

    My engine drops idle after warm up. In addition, it can stall from like this Carburetors pwk in the process of jetting What could it be ? Too small idle Jet? No air leaks for sure.

    • @TheMotorcycleForge
      @TheMotorcycleForge  ปีที่แล้ว

      If your bike idles lower when it's hot than when it's cold it generally means the idle circuit jet is to big or mixture screw is adjusted a bit on the rich side.
      Also if choke is on will cause same symptoms.

    • @TheMotorcycleForge
      @TheMotorcycleForge  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok so a couple things you could try which I have come across before are.
      Pod filters sometimes mess with carbs, I think it's a resonance thing, I would do a test without them on.
      Also with the idle jet size, I have found the pwk carbs seem to prefer a bigger jet than what you would expect, so maybe they do need a 48 or 50 ect.
      I if you are thinking there is a issue with the engine, I would maybe swap out the carbs for oem do a test to confirm the engine is ok then continue with pwk jetting ect.
      The needle JJH I have not had much luck with personally but by the sounds of it it's probably not the issue.
      Let me know how you get on.

    Good Morning Guys, we running a Honda GX390 and I'm trying to get the 34mm slide carb to work at altitude.
    Are there any recommendations in terms of main jet, idle jet.
    Currently seems that it is only picking up halfway down the straight.
    Currently running a 125 main jet, 33 pilot jet.

    • @TheMotorcycleForge
      @TheMotorcycleForge  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would be running around 125 to 130 main jet in the 34mm carb.
      Is it at full throttle the whole straight and then picks up half way? If so I have a feeling your carb might be to big for your engine.
      Stock is 27mm, I normally only go a couple mm bigger so a 28 or 30 would work better.
      The reasoning is carbs need a certain level of air speed to atomize fuel effectively so at low rpm the carb will stuggle to function.
