    Interesting. So they're basically just bobber floats with slits cut into them and wings glued into those slits. I have floats in various shapes & colors (variety) and can easily cut the wings myself.

      Yep that is basically what they are!

      @@FTWQ .. I like making my own lures, so might make a couple just to see what they'll do. Hell, sitting at home, haven't got much else to do right now.

    Could you use minnows like shiners

  • @Whisper0ak
    @Whisper0ak 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Would these work without bait? I can't use bait where i am due to regulations. But i can use lures, flies, hard plastics, yarn, and sent. Any recommendations? Thank you!

    • @FTWQ
      @FTWQ  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, about %80 of the time I use just the beads, the spin n glo, and scent. So yes, you can definitely go without bait. I recommend shrimp based scents. Hope this helps!

      Alright, I'll give it a try :d

    Is the actual spinning glow weighted?

    • @FTWQ
      @FTWQ  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not weighted, these actually are buoyant and will help float the presentation.

    why do you want to make the sure yarn does not cover the hook? will that interfere with the hook-up?
    i figure it will hide a hook
    thx.

    • @FTWQ
      @FTWQ  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The primary worry with it being too long is hook interference. There has been times when I reel in my setup to see the yarn cover and almost "tangled" around the hook point. I personally don't feel confident when seeing this, so thats why I like to have it shorter. Hope this helps!

    Can this rig be used effectively in swift current. i.e. deep swift river.

    • @FTWQ
      @FTWQ  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The rig would definitely work in a swift current. The main issue would be to have enough lead weight to keep it from drifting down.

  • @zainshilling
    @zainshilling 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What bait would be good to go on it for steelhead

    • @zainshilling
      @zainshilling 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      FishThatWontQuit what about minnows like shiners

    • @zainshilling
      @zainshilling 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      FishThatWontQuit do you just let it sit 8n a rod holder when you plunk

    • @FTWQ
      @FTWQ  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zain Shillingvlogs I personally have never used minnows or shiners, But If I was you, I would give it a try.

    • @FTWQ
      @FTWQ  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zain Shillingvlogs Yep Yep, rod holders when Plunking. Bring a collapsible chair, and place a bell on the rod. And just sit and soak it all in lol

    • @zainshilling
      @zainshilling 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      FishThatWontQuit can you use spawn or salmon roe in it at this time of year

    can you just put a worm on it and will it catch Steelhead???

    • @FTWQ
      @FTWQ  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Troutaholic flo
      Adding a worm would be a fantastic idea. I haven't plunked with worms before, but I feel like it would definitely work. My main concerns would be the worm easily falling off due to high Current. Also, worms attract a lot of different species of fish; this may make you get more nibble bites. I think if you put a worm on consistently, you will definitely see that it can work.

    • @italiantroutaholic8926
      @italiantroutaholic8926 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Option 2 would be a rubber pink steelhead worm!

    • @FTWQ
      @FTWQ  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep yep, I don't see how you can go wrong with that setup! Probably will be killer.

    • @FTWQ
      @FTWQ  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +dksk8life
      Yeah I would say it would work just fine, just need to find the right plunking water.

  • @jongarrigus4600

    what size weight so you use when driffing

    • @FTWQ
      @FTWQ  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +jon garrigus
      The weight will vary depending on the current you are fishing in. Your goal when drift fishing is to have the weight tap the bottom about 1 time per second on average.

    Do you use shrimp with this? scent? You didn't finish! ;)

    • @FTWQ
      @FTWQ  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha Sorry Tim. I guess I left that part up to the imagination. Adding Shrimp, scent to the yarn, or Eggs are a great way to utilize that egg loop knot and allows you to change things up if the fish aren't biting. Thanks for reminding me ;- )

      Yes scent works great on spin n glows. When they spin, it disperses the scent

  • @ShotGuntomy
    @ShotGuntomy 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why do people use yarn?

    • @FTWQ
      @FTWQ  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Mostly so that you can add scent to it and it holds on for longer period of time. Yarn also simulates eggs in the water. Also, it adds a bit of color.

      ShotGun tommy i use yarn balls (make them myself) and yeah, simulate eggs and use of scent oil... great stuff

    • @sgtslippyfist6345
      @sgtslippyfist6345 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yarn also hangs up in there teeth giving an extra second for hook set. At least for drift rigs
