after removing the old coolant did u put water or just let it sit and just put your new coolant? and what about the reservoir? do i have to put on max or there are procedures when it comes to reservoir? need answers thanks
I do rinse the system out with water and drain the water out before filling the coolant. Pull the reservoir off the bike, drain it and clean it up before reinstalling it. Once you reinstall the reservoir you will want to fill it to the cold line. Now you need to heat cycle the bike then recheck the level. I would also recheck the level in the reservoir after the first ride. Hope this helps. - Van
Some people says that when we use distilled water for flush,, some water stay remains in the system which can be harmful for engine .....so dont need to flush......Can u plz explain me about that
I just got mine it was dropped. And the radiator needed to be changed. I did that and plugged everything back up but the fan wouldn’t kick on and the overflow tank started bubbling and even squirting a little. What should I do replace the fan because it never kicked in? Or the thermostat. Was using Yamaha yamacool fluid blue. Help please
You need to make sure the air is purged from the system and also check to make sure the fan is plugged in. If it worked before you changed the radiator (and you reused the fan that was on the bike) I would expect it to work with the new radiator if you have it properly installed. - Van
Is this truth that engine ice coolant can bear lot more heat than OEM coolants because the place where i ride temperature in summers rises above 46 degree and sometimes i ride in heavy traffic with heavy jams so i want collant that can handle lot of heat which one u suggest
It will reduce the operating temp on most bikes. The only way to find out if it will do this on yours would be to change the coolant and ride it. - Van
I ran that in my Busa during the winter but it heats up and turns on the fans for a while anytime I'm in stop and go traffic. Drained it and flushed it all out till clear distilled water came out then refilled with distilled water and water wetter and now she runs cooler. I see a nice drop when riding interstate but u really notice the water wetter doin its job in stop and fo traffic. Fans barely kick on and if they do they don't stay on nearly as long. I'll run Engine Ice in winter but deff not summer or track days

Hye brian...im from malaysia...i wonder what are the idle temperature and operating temperature for the yamaha r25/r3?...and could the bike use the coolant which more applicable for the daily ride and performance(trackday) that can stand for the excessive temperature while idle and on the road?

@@sportbiketrackgear Thanks! Hey what do you think about reinforcing the plywood under a new Pitbull restraint (purchasing through STG)? I'm thinking of installing a 1/8 thick steel "L" bar that the bolts pass through underneath. Unnecessary?
End of the day most any of them gets the job done as long as your cooling system if functioning properly. Important to remember the coolant should be changed every 2 years on most bikes. Here in Michigan we have below freezing temps in the winter so I prefer to use Engine Ice in our bikes because it won't freeze unless the temps are below -27 degrees F. IMO this is the way to go. There will be a service interval noted in your owners manual. The OEM coolant will be good for several seasons. The rule of thumb is two years then change it. Some models will come with coolant that can go longer which is why you should check your manual. - Van

I flush the bikes with tap water, no need to do that with distilled water IMO. As for running the bike with the radiator cap off I do not do that. These systems are pretty small which makes getting the air out using the method I show easy to do. After you ride the bike check the level in the over flow and adjust as needed. - Brian Van
Have you done a video on changing the oil on a Gsx R. I have a 2016 Gsx R 600 and i'm changing the oil, which I've done so many time but every time I get to the adding oil part I never really know how much oil. So today i'm changing the oil and i'm at 8 quarts and I still don't see oil in the window. The filter is on. The oil bolt is in. There is NO oil is leaking but I still don't see oil. I've looked at the forms and everyone is saying 2.3 qt.. So I'm like no way possible. So i'm confused.
Eight quarts is for sure over filled. I start with 2 and let it settle for a minute then check the level. If you can not see it on the stick or through the sight glass add another 1/4 to 1/3 of a quart and repeat. Once you see it in the operating range run the motor for a minute then turn it off to let it settle and recheck. Once you do a successful oil change make not of how much oil it required, this will make the process much easier the next time. - Van
I thought you were supposed to leave the radiator cap OFF when you start up the engine in order to let the cooling system burp out air..... and while it does that should the coolant in the radiator drops a bit lower, you then proceed to fill it up to the top and then put the radiator cap back on???
I do not run with the cap off, all that does is make a mess IMO. Bleed as mush of the air out as you can like I show you here, put the cap on and run the bike through a heat cycle. Once it cools off recheck your levels, do this again after the first ride to make sure you are where you need to be. For the system to work as designed the cap needs to be on the radiator. - Van
If you noticed this after you changed the coolant I would top it off and recheck after riding. Make sure you check and adjust the level when the motor is cold. Also best to check the coolant with the bike standing straight up and down. If you have not serviced the cooling system at all I would add a little and recheck after riding. If it is low again you need to remove the fairings and take a close look for leaks. - Van
hey van, I switched engine ice for my r3, I live in Texas so it gets very hot here, when I'm stopped at idle my bike will get up to 4 bars and then quickly cool back down to 3. Is this normal? I also saw it quickly flash 5 bars when pulling into the garage on a hot day. this is the only time I've ever seen it get this hot. usually at idle when not moving it switches between 3 and 4 bars, when moving it always stays at 3. should i be concerned?
I would make sure you have the system free of air pockets just to be safe. End of the day our experience has shown very little if any difference in operating temps with the Engine ice compared to standard coolant. - Van
Search our channel, we have a couple of brake bleeding videos that will help you get the job done. The procedure we show will be the same on the R3. - Van
i just did it with my dad. he has a S1000RR and it's the same process. you will need a "one man brake bleeder" which is a bottle with a hose that attaches to the brake bleed valve. there is a bleed valve on the front too. just attach the hose, loosen the bleed valve, open the reservoir cap, and start pumping the brakes. and top off the fluid in the reservoir when it's half full, so there's no air pockets. it's very easy. when the bleed bottle clears up with the new brake fluid, you'll know it's done.
If you are riding it on the street you can use standard coolant like Peak if that is what the manufacturer recommends. Always best to consult your owners manual before moving forward. For the track we recommend Engine Ice (also works great on the street). If your bike came with green coolant you can continue using that if you ride on the street for sure. - Van
On my Kawasaki Z900 the overfill container is a pain to get to .. you need to take off the tank .. then the air box .. and then parts of the engine ! .. no way im doing that .. I got a big suringe with a long tube .. much easier to just suck the coolant out with the suringe and hose :)

Brian, can you answer this please. I have an 18 R1 and a 19 R3 which I've bought parts from your store. Regarding engine ice, my research shows that while Engine Ice has a higher boiling point and anti-freeze properties, it has a quicker temperature exchange for hot and cold, meaning it heats up fast and cools fast where as OEM cools slower and heats up slower. This tells me Engine Ice isn't good for stop n go and more for track? Is this your experience? What are you using for your street bikes, if you have any. Also I live in Texas for reference.
First thank you for the business! I have used this on the street and the track without excellent performance in both places. For street bikes I would just stick with the OEM coolant. There is no need to change it on either the 18 or the 19. - Van

If you watch the video you will see I remove the drain bolt on the water pump which is the lowest point in the cooling system. Removing this will get you as close to completely draining the system as you could without removing the engine etc. If you don't understand what you are looking at it is best not to leave comments that can confuse people looking for help with their project. - Van
We have other videos where we show the OEM bodywork being removed. This bike has been converted to a race bike with race bodywork making the removal and re installation irrelevant for most. - Van

I noticed that mi r3's coolant level went down to the "low" line in just two months, and I don´t see any leakage of liquids, what can it be? thanks!
- Van
What year is your r3? If it between 15-18 some models have recalls on the collant hoses leaking. I had mine done no issues since. Good luck.
hey van, I switched engine ice for my r3, I live in Texas so it gets very hot here, when I'm stopped at idle my bike will get up to 4 bars and then quickly cool back down to 3.
- Van
I love myR3
It's crazy how no one has a made a video on changing the brake fluid on a yamaha R3. The manual sucks at explaining it as well
Search our channel, we have a couple of brake bleeding videos that will help you get the job done. The procedure we show will be the same on the R3. - Van
i just did it with my dad. he has a S1000RR and it's the same process. you will need a "one man brake bleeder" which is a bottle with a hose that attaches to the brake bleed valve. there is a bleed valve on the front too. just attach the hose, loosen the bleed valve, open the reservoir cap, and start pumping the brakes. and top off the fluid in the reservoir when it's half full, so there's no air pockets. it's very easy. when the bleed bottle clears up with the new brake fluid, you'll know it's done.
can you use coolant for cars like the brand Peak and use it on bikes?
If you are riding it on the street you can use standard coolant like Peak if that is what the manufacturer recommends. Always best to consult your owners manual before moving forward. For the track we recommend Engine Ice (also works great on the street). If your bike came with green coolant you can continue using that if you ride on the street for sure. - Van
How many gallons of engine ice do I need? I have 2016 r3
Just order one container of it. More than enough for the R3. - Van
How many ounces will I need for the change on the R3?
Order one bottle and you will be good to go. - Van
What brand of coolant did you use in your Yamaha r3?
We use Engine Ice on the street and the track when it is allowed. - Van
On my Kawasaki Z900 the overfill container is a pain to get to .. you need to take off the tank .. then the air box .. and then parts of the engine ! .. no way im doing that .. I got a big suringe with a long tube .. much easier to just suck the coolant out with the suringe and hose :)
How to flush the radiator sir
You can use distilled water from a jug to flush the system. Some people may even use a hose. - Van
Plz suggest me the best engine oil for r3 bro??
We run Motul 300v in all of our bikes because it is the best shit out there. Here is a link to it on our site: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/motul-300v-10w40-synthetic-ester-motorcycle-oil/ - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear thank you bro
Why u R3 not upgrade on big radiator. Can u explanse
There is no need to replace the OEM radiator on the R3, it is more than adequate for this bike. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear but my r3 use to stunt bro.the themp so hot . 4 n 5 bar in guidge. I scare my engine blow. But fan radiator is otomaticly on. Any tips for my r3
The sound of that coolant draining really makes me want to pee. 2:37
LOL - Van
- Van
thanks for the video! is the goal to eventually fill it ALL the way up to the top of the coolant fill cap?
In the end the radiator will be full and the overflow bottle will be between the cold and hot fill lines depending on the temp of the motor. - Van
Should’ve left the cap open like when u do on a car and get the air pockets out faster
If you follow the steps in this video there will not be any air pockets. - Van
?? he literally did that. that cap is out while he burps the hoses
2:30 gee-wizz now I have the need to go pee LOL!
LOL
I'm getting 4 bars on my temp gauge everyone saying that is normal is it?
Nah, idk man mine was hot as fuck and fell burning around my legs but the bar still 3
I live in thailand and I have a service manual in thai lol I'm looking for a service manual in English with no luck as rule number 1 never take your bike to a dealer for a service in Thailand it comes out with more issus then when it goes in anyone have a manuel?,
Thx in advance guys
Sorry I do not have a manual for this bike. Try a google search, I bet there is a copy out there you can download. - Van
Would’ve been nice to see exactly how to flush it
Use your imagination. There are a few ways to get this done and I was trying to avoid any complaints over disposal. - Van
What tire are you using on this R3 and how big is it ?
We are running Michelin Power RS Tires in 120/70 front and a 150/60 rear on the STG R3. Replacing the OEM 110 and 140 with these tires improves the handling of the bike a lot. Here is a link to the Power RS on our site: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/michelin-power-rs-tire-set/
- Brian Van
So I'm guess a half gal. is enough?
For almost any bike it will be enough. - Van
Surprised the drain screw isn’t safety wired...
I use hi temp silicone on the bolt after torquing it down. This helps to ensure it does not come loose. Wera does not require safety wire on this. - Van
yzf r25 icin kaçlitre antifirizlazım
gardaşım do you need something gardaşım?
1.2 liter.
güvenç terzierol Hahahha gece gece iyi güldüm 😂
eselente programas
This only drains half of the radiator though, it doesn’t have a hose at the bottom…
- Van
Where the heck is the reservoir?!?😂
When Max started racing this bike we ended up installing a Motion Pro coolant reservoir on the right side, replacing the OEM one on the left. - Van
Wouldve been more useful showing how to take off the body work. Changing the coolant is pretty straight forward...
We have other videos where we show the OEM bodywork being removed. This bike has been converted to a race bike with race bodywork making the removal and re installation irrelevant for most. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear Fair enough. I should have looked into your channel for more info. The safety wire should have made it obvious too.
Hi sir.. My bike was overheat... R3.. THANKS philippine.
Sorry I would need a whole lot more information to help diagnose this. - Van
I like moral people. There are lots of moments in our lives when we are involved in things that have us on honor systems.
Wheree you are making decisions or giving answers (taxes, etc) where you decide..am I going to do the right thing or the wrong thing?
Check this, the right thing is ALWAYS the harder route.
That goes with everything in life.
Not trying to insult people when I say, you have no idea how important this kind of thing is and how it effects society.
Real men do the right thing. They tsake the harder route. Twerps would dump it n the lawn or down the toilet.
Its one thing if you didnt know better...
You have to dispose of this like you would used oil. - Van
- Van
