Is everything supposed to ring out that much, i love the vibe in that resonance, i love his snare tone. Also the half open hi hat stuff he does. Maybe it is why the trio sounds so full and busy.
The thing about Vic Firth sticks is that yes, they're matched to the same weight and pitch, but the variations within the specific models are huge. I've got 2 pairs of Peter Erskines and one feels really heavy and are great for me (and for that matter have a higher pitch to them) and one that I regret buying because they don't have enough throw to them IMO. Don't get me wrong, that's not something I imagine they can do much/anything about, but it's something to keep in mind when buying sticks.
I know this comments from 7 years ago but thought I'd chime in. I love vic firth but I agree. I bought a pair of steve jordan signature sticks and loved them, bought a few more pairs and the weight was nowhere near the first pair I got. like 15 grams difference which may not sound like a lot of makes a huuge difference in the feel and throw of the stick.
What I suggest. Go into a store and roll sticks I can GUARANTEE the vics will be way less warped than the other brands. Never had a problem having my 7a's or smaller last months. All comes down to technique and how much you play.
@samm1809 it's a natural wood product, it's impossible not to happen. However there is no other company with better quality, matched and balance, and straight I've never had a warped Vic stick.
Just to continue, I'm not attacking Vic Firth by any means. I've only bought 2 pairs of sticks that weren't Vic Firth in my life and I regret them both much more than I regret the lighter Erskines.
I don't understand the issue regarding stick matching. If your not completely ambidextrous there will always be an imbalance anyway. I use a 5a left hand and a 7a right hand.
Dude, 1. calm down 2. I have, and I have found so many in fact they apologized for a batch they sent me because the entire batch was messed up and sent me another batch, again with many weigh discrepancies as well as not pitch paired OR straight. So not only is your challenge stupid and pitiful but I have already dealt with it.
"Vic Firth is the best stick maker" I have to agree with this statement :) so consistent

Actually it was 3, but the other ones broke the first day I got them, and they were from a certain major cymbal company. Cough cough.

Yeah, well I know that now, so I'll be keeping it in mind a bit more next time I buy sticks.
Homeboy likes the herb.
Not to mention why would I want to play with baseball bats?
