you gotta keep in mind that he IS playing for a packed venue for a crowd of people who came to see john mayer. this isn't a room full of drummers, so no one cares how intricate the fills are.
loved it! Great showmanship, great groove, and pretty good technique. Hopefully this leads viewers to the jazz world where his teachers lay in waiting.
Peart is cool, but you should always prefer having Jordan in your band. Peart has talent, but he is not in same universe as Jordan when it comes to groove and musicality.
Go ahead and KILL me in the comments but I think Steve Jordan is one of the most OVERRATED drummers ever. He's a good drummer. He has great timing, like all professional drummers do. But hes not very creative or innovative at all. There's nothing in this vid that I couldn't do. I still gave the video a thumbs up because I'm not a hater. I support ALL working drummers. Can someone please enlighten me as to why people love him so much??
Cause hes a musician not a drummer, maybe the patterns he plays are "simple" - but always interesting, the sound of every hit he makes on any drum is always on point like a record, if you like songs and not instrumental virtueso music - the best players are the ones that you don't think about the instruments but you are in the song, and this cat is maybe one of the greatest of all time on that (in my opinion)
“There’s nothing in this vid that I couldn’t do.” I beg to differ. Perhaps you have the ability to play the notes he plays, but not the WAY he plays them. Great drummers such as Steve who play simple grooves put their focus and energy into making them musical and fit the song, not to mention playing behind, on top, or right in the center of the beat depending on what the song demands. Steve isn’t just a drummer, he’s a musician.
@@spencergsmith I understand musicianship. I get nuance and subtleties. I read every single reply to my post and take the words to heart. I have to acknowledge Steve Jordan is doing something great. I just don't see it. I try. He's strong, he's consistent, he's versatile, and has a great pocket. For me it ends there. God Bless him because people LOVE him.
If so the drummer ALWAYS gets the best applause cus people love rhythm. I play multiple instruments but out of all of them the drums always get the biggest and loudest response. (Even if the drummer isn’t that technical) It doesn’t matter how complex or simple it is. That’s BIG FACTS💯
What an amazing and groovy drummer. I think Steve is one of the all time greats. Versatile, creative and super funky!
This is one of the coolest solos I’ve seen on here in a long time... entertaining from start to finish!!
Steve is one of the few drummers who can get away with not playing any crazy solo stuff, just groovin‘
you gotta keep in mind that he IS playing for a packed venue for a crowd of people who came to see john mayer. this isn't a room full of drummers, so no one cares how intricate the fills are.
Kolby K also that this man is a living metronome so his grooves are perfect
👍
Imho, one of the 10 greatest drummers ever.
And I’d say the greatest to come out since Steve Gadd; So roughly 45 years.
... and he has been around almost as long.
Jeff Jordan is on fire !!🔥
loved it! Great showmanship, great groove, and pretty good technique. Hopefully this leads viewers to the jazz world where his teachers lay in waiting.
He is filling in for Charlie watts when the stones play their shows this fall, steve is a groove master
Just goes to show you can make a whole stadium full of people go nuts with nothing but four on the floor and a shit load of swag
Saw him with Clapton in New orleans & he was Killing it! 'Sunshine of Your Love' never ever sounded like that before!
almost enough to make me want to see the Rolling Stones.
It's a vintage 70ties ludwig jazz combo snare (13"x3") he is playing here
steve's groove is insuperable!!!
was totally there!!!
Holy crap, I was there and I just now noticed that it's not a regular drummers throne he's sitting on, it's more like an office chair
A groove machine
I need this bass and snare really
Snare is a 70s ludwig, enough said.
Very, very good.
this show was fucking sick! SJ is so solid.
This has convinced me to get a big ass pair of high hats and a small ass snare
Fat hats = awesome tone
it's a drumthrone with a back rest, all major brands produce it
familytreemusic yeah
grooooveeee
..good lord.
@RaineSeras It's his Yamaha Signature snare.

@jacksoncopper that is his signature drum chair the office chair
Yikes. So good. So...how?
Brady snares and his own snares together with a few different Yamaha snares on the side in a large case.
Retired.? Dont ever stop playing.

do you even know who Steve Jordan is
yeah the show was ba
no coments
tejk
nygas
Boom , boom , boom ,,,,lota noise ,, bull shit
Neil Peart who?
Trolling or just stupid?
trolling for sure. But it's more a commentary on how good Steve Jordan's groove is. We all know Neil Peart is a great musician.
The man (Jordan) certainly has groove.
apples vs oranges.. Neil Peart and Steve Jordan are both geniuses.. I've learned stuff from both
Peart is cool, but you should always prefer having Jordan in your band. Peart has talent, but he is not in same universe as Jordan when it comes to groove and musicality.
There's no doubt he's good. But, I would not call it solo as the guitars are well heard in the recording.
Solo as in musical device, or rather part of an arrangment. Doesnt mean only instrument playing :)

Really? Pretty basic fills. You call this a "drum solo"? Learn a little.
this is called ignorance
RaisinCain1 let's see what you got, son
Youve got Neil.Peart on the Brain Raisin Cain1 A solo Means playing alone so you can do what you want even a basic groive just ask Bernard Purdie
im dead lmao
Best pocket drummer ever. I love him...JJ Johnson is my 2nd favorite!
Nothing more boring than a drum solo
😡😠🤬

Depends on the solo
