    Wonderful video and tips. However, there is a 5th method that I often use under any of the scenarios that you mention. When my opponent hits the shuttle, I slightly raise my chin as I watch the shuttlecock go over my head. I then shift my weight back until I realize that there is no way in hell I can get it. If the shuttle lands inbounds., I proclaim " Nice shot". If it goes out of bounds, I look like a stud for conserving energy. It seem like your option are much better. Thanks for sharing.

    I have been searching for this kind of video for years in TH-cam because I am struggling with my rear court footwork to execute good shots. It’s really great that you guys brought this topic up! It certainly requires a lot of practices to perform those footwork you describe in the video. Until I master these techniques I always try to say this to myself „move you legs first and get behind the shuttle”.

    Hi Greg and Jenny. This is a really helpful video. You showed what to use for each scenario, and each of that techniques has a separate video like the jump out, jump smash, and the scissor kick. But you didn't made a video about the kick-through. I'm really hoping to see a video for that. But anyways, this video is still really helpful.

I noticed that Greg held his breath before doing the split steps to the rear corners in this video. Is that to increase the explosiveness of the return? When do you release your breath? Great video guys! Something I think would be cool to see is how you guys split up your badminton training, so which specific skills get practiced when and how often you train a certain technical point, for example net play or offensive shots. Is there like a list of things that get trained and then those things are repeated again in rotation, etc. Would be cool to see how it’s structured. Great content as always!

    It’s really bad because I’ve been playing badminton for 9 years now (currently 16 years of age) and I only recently (8 months or so) have been actually starting to train really hard to become really good and since I was self taught for the other 8 years it’s really difficult to unlearn my bad habits. 😭

      @@BadmintonInsight You could do or you could simply prepare a video on how to avoid slicing on the forehand corner jump out!
      I used to love all of those shots and was particularly strong with the slice but then covid hit and I have not trained since. Now, I can only slice on shots in that corner and, when I try and slice intentionally, I always slice to much so what was once an excellent weapon is now a massive weakness.

    Thanks

    • @BadmintonInsight
      @BadmintonInsight  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wow, this really depends! We did a video a few weeks ago about this in the mid-court. If their opponent is taking the shuttle below the height of the net then you would ideally prepare with it higher. In between movement you can afford to have it a little lower - it's easier to move fast like this. Just try to avoid having it too low!!

    Sorry, I'm still a little confused. In the split step video, you said that the split step is an anticipation move. Does that mean if I guess wrong, I can't do it? For example, what do I do if my opponent hits it to my back forehand corner, but my split step is with my racket foot forward (the normal ready stance)? Do I push off with my racket foot? Thanks!

    • @BadmintonInsight
      @BadmintonInsight  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question! If you do move slightly too early or wrong then yes you need to switch your feet quickly. This might decide which movement you use for the forehand corner, depending how early you will be to the shot!

    Excellent video. I think it is worth pointing out that these movements not only need to be relentlessly practiced when a player is learning, but have to be continuously practiced by players throughout their playing career. The movement patterns are very much "received" skills rather than natural movements and I am shocked how quickly they fade for me when I am taking a break from the game, particularly if you are an older player.

      @@BadmintonInsight I’m thinking left rear court double legged jump. Isnt landing on one foot going to stress the achilles more?

    The video is really helpful and on point but I think it would be a waste for people who don't Jump Smash (usually they can't do a deep lunge also).
    So it may not make much difference for singles player but in a doubles game it is kinda an essential skill.

    Will you guys consider doing a giveaway for 100k subscribers? I came across your channel and love the content but cant afford a nicer racket. Sometimes makes me feel like I am missing out while swinging around my brick. Thanks for the presentation

    I'm still not clear what's the difference between type 1 (kick-through variation) and type 2. Is it just that in 1 you're behind the shuttle, and in 2 you're not?

    Why is it often said that you should do China jump from the forehand corner and scissor-kick from around the head corner?

    • @BadmintonInsight
      @BadmintonInsight  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's easier and allows you to play better shots is one main reason!
