- Here's a review of my Fernandes FST-55. A very 80s styled guitar. I believe it is from the early 90s (some sources say around 1989 though). Info on these guitars are rather sketchy, so I hope this video will give you a bit more info about this Japanese gem of a guitar.

Купил себе недавно такую же гитару. Спасибо Японцам за такой прекрасный инструмент!
Sorry could u write in English?
@@LKWong I recently bought myself the same guitar. Thanks to the Japanese for such a wonderful tool!
@@JolyGold. oh yes!! They’re great. It’s been my main go to guitar for quite awhile now for some reason 😂
@@LKWong That's cool. I'm just learning to play guitar and chose this guitar model as my first one :3
@@JolyGold. awesome! It has a slightly shorter scale length that makes it abit easier on the hands. All the best with picking up the instrument!
Beautiful guitar!! You may already be aware of this, but Fernandes had a limited run of Allan Holdsworth tribute Charvel-styled guitars, search up the Fernandes STC-50, I think those are THE closest to a San Dimas Charvel without breaking the bank, lol. I happen to own one in red, and it's great. Fernandes guitar are really bang for the buck, seriously! Nice review.
I did see a Fernandes Alan Holdsworth charvel clone online once but never knew the model number. Thanks for the info! I just looked it up and it’s nice! The scale length isn’t like Alan’s Charvel though. But the wiring and single pick up is enticing! Cool guitar you have! I’d probably grab one if the chance arises here too!
@@LKWong yeah the scale length and rosewood fretboard is the biggest difference, but I personally don't see it as a big deal breaker. I've always wanted a San Dimas era Charvel without having to spend the money people are asking for them, so I think these particular guitars are very close to those. There's also some Jackson Soloist copies Fernandes made like the Fernandes STJ-75. Fernandes make some seriously high-grade guitars for a much lower price and I love that!
@@LKWong also saw a charvel model 6 copy by Fernandes but I've only seen one for sale only, not multiple. I think it's the STJ-120.
@@dylano0126 yeah the scale length and rosewood board are fine. They’re built well anyway for so much less money.
💥💥💥 So beautiful! Great video bro! Subscribed!
Thank you bro! Subbed back yours too!
did you have any problems getting it intonated with the upgraded bridge? i put a floyd rose on mine years ago and the high e string saddle can't go towards the neck enough. i was just thinking to put it back to stock and sell it since i barely play it now. either that or get a new fretboard made with a 25" scale length to fix the intonation. it's a nice guitar i'm sure it will be worth it 😂
@@ShaneDobbie on the last string change I did run into that issue when I finally wanted to really intonate it. But I was using the original studs from the Fernandes, by right I should get it installed with the ones Gotoh supplied which I think is a bit thicker. But funny enough after maybe a month, the intonation seemed vastly improved. Maybe the strings needed some stretching out too 🤔
That clean sound! Damn
To be fair, I readjust the pickup heights after the video shoot… the pickups sound a lot better now though…
Hi LK, is this the guitar I saw in your office last year? Awesome guitar.
Heyyy yes it’s the same guitar! Thanks!
Is the body smaller than a Fender Stratocaster as well, kinda like a dinky?
Yes a little bit thinner than a Fender Strat.
Appreciate it. But more specifically, if you were to put the FST-55 in a Fender Strat hardshell case, would it be smaller than a Strat body? (Smaller Asian guy here 😊)
What amp are you using? Or is that a preset?
Hi, I was using the BOSS GT-1 direct. My own patches
Hey, I want to buy this model at the weekend, it is worth? Feels well made and sounding nice live?
Hi, I think they’re very well made. I’ve been liking it a lot since I’ve gotten it. But you may wanna upgrade the original bridge to a double locking system. The original bridge doesn’t stay in tune if you’re a whammy bar player
@@LKWong I am not into playing a whammy bar, so it isn't a big deal. Thank you very much, I am gonma get it. It's in mint condition, with original documents.
@@DoktorSacharow that’s great! Hope you enjoy the guitar!
@@LKWong got it, love it, such a unique axe!
@@DoktorSacharow awesome! Which colour did you get??
Love it❤ look likes Valley Arts
Thank you. Yes! It’s definitely inspired by such kind of super strats!
