I had the problem here in Australia too. Paid for it, then they cancelled my order. I don’t get it, if it’s an exclusive product, that means it isn’t available for purchase from the local retailers. I’m a major Malmsteen fan, I have all the pedals, the guitars etc etc. Sucks.
Yeah. Very strange that they have a few international shipping companies to choose from when you try to buy but they wont ship it to you, they should have just disabled the option for that specific item to be ordered and paid for if it cant be shipped to a specific country.
I don't think they exactly mean "meant for use within the US only", I think it's more like for sale within the US only, which is often the case with limited edition type stuff, be it for the sake of them selling out too fast or perhaps being scalped (although even when that wasn't as common as it is today, there already was this "rule" for sale within the US/country only), if not just costs (such as they explained that it would be eligible for customs-fees, which they might want to avoid or at least surprising the customer and receive complaints) or perhaps even a kind of exclusivity-contract. - Sometimes different stores in different countries even get their own editions, such as I believe Thomann has done, even though it's based in Germany, they have done editions exclusively to say Germany compared to the rest of Europe, or even the Americas and the like. - It's just all planned to do these limited runs for certain locations only and no more, so they can keep it nice and organized or focused.
Strange is they have 4 shipping companies to choose from to ship outside of usa. They should have just removed the option to ship outside usa for exclusive items like that. Easy fix
I ordered the Yellow MXR Yngwie pedal from Sweetwater also and was contacted and told it would be about 3 weeks before they even have them in stock. It was a Pre-Order for the pedal. I'm in the U.S. and Guitar Center shows the pedal in stock but the yellow pedal is exclusive to Sweetwater. I think there must be a distribution deal with dealers not to sale outside of their area to protect local dealers. I don't know this to be true but it sounds like that is the case. Good luck.
What's strange about my experience is I ordered the pedal minutes after they put it up on sale on the website , even before they uploaded the 4 minute video of yngwie so I'm pretty sure I got first dibs on someones yellow pedal right now. But I've gotten over the pedal right now. I've seen a review of it on a facebook page about yjm, he said it's the same as the fender one.
Sweetwater sucks ! I’ve had problems with them myself and I live in the US. My friend also had problems with them. Sweetwater’s sales people are terrible.
Can't you just solder your own when the schematics hit the internets? What kind of policy is that anyway. "You will own nothing and be happy?" They can't tell customer where he wants to use what he buys. It's an easy case to win in the court.
Yeah, I had the exact issue with thomann . Ironicly, I wanted to buy a marshall SV20 head through them because marshalls are much much cheaper in the UK. They are $800 usd on their site vs 1500$ here in the states. I went through the checkout process. I got a confirmation email, then the next day i got another email canceling my order because marshall will not ship thier uk market amps to the united states. I already have a 220v to 120v power coverter. I was just trying to save 700 bucks , oh well !
Wow. Big price difference. In my case, price of the pedal from sweetwater seems to be the same as the mxr wylde pedal from the distributor here, but with shipping and handling it's a lot expensive from sweet water.
Great! Congrats I've checked and there are still 2 sellers that sell em but. They're priced at 149 usd plus 71 dollars for shipping to my country. Too expensive for my taste.
They did The same bullshit to me, I ordered it 10 minutes after yngwie posted the demo video. I'm not out of state, I'm from Boston. They messed it up pretty bad.

It is, because nowhere in the world can you find it that time except for sweetwater. Strange thing is there is an option for overseas shipping with 4 shipping companies to choose from ranging from 27 usd to more that 40 usd. If they really knew that it was only meant for USA they should have removed the option on their website for overseas shipping.
If you already have the old version, I would wait for it to come to your local shop. Sweetwater should have made all the policies clear, before you even made the order.
I ordered the pedal out of impulse thinking that there will be no issues and ordered the yellow one just because it's a different colour from the last one so it kinda makes it a bit special. but after that experience and a couple of days, my desire to have even the red one is fading away fast plus I played the older version yesterday and it still sounds good to my ears. So in a few days more I'll probably forget about it.
What a ridiculous policy. This is a small consumer electronics device. We're not talking about a 100w amp here.
It doesn't matter what it is. If you buy it it's yours. No one can restrain you from using it anywhere on the planet.
Skip to 3:45 for the info. Sweetwater should tell you this "up front" instead of making you wait to find out about it.
