I'm a middle-aged man and I've been playing on and off since I was a kid. In recent times guitars have become something more than instruments to me. This world is utterly horrible and (like most other people) life's a struggle for me but guitars give me an escape route into a little secret world. I can play them, I can browse them in shops (when I manage to get out again) and I can watch videos like this and I'm suddenly transported to a safe zone. It's hard to explain but I'm sure other guitarists out there of all levels understand the vibe and comfort that I'm trying to convey. It's like a secret little world that's fun, calming, safe and creative. I'm laid-up with an injury at the moment so this video is going to help my mind and my mood for the next couple of hours. I just did my guitar collection video on my channel as well and it took and 1hr 28min and that was the short version. haha I cant believe you picked up that Tanglewood! I played mine to death in a jam band through a Marshall and finally burnt it when I couldn't get the bridge to glue back on! Proper loud. I pissed them off in the shop but they were happy when I can back with the money. Whatever bullshit wood the top is made of mine broke by the neck and shifted! Loved it! If I was going to luthier one of them I would go all out and have an actual piece of wood top.
You need a bigger house. The Revelation looks astonishing. The Chapman Pro X is the best looking in my eyes. The best of all is you. How you talk about the guitars, how you smile, your eyes. Meaning no offense, Dave, but that is my favourite part.

Hang on, I forgot the Mockingbird, what a special day that was I picked it up in Nottingham in the morning, went to my first Trio gig in Newark in the afternoon before handing it over. It was a perfect example of how things can go smoothly when everything lines up.
Enjoyed every single second of this video. You have an amazing collection Sir Dave. I absolutely love the Oswald with the full rosewood neck. That neck, natural roasted body and the black pickguard and pickups ... beautiful! Thats the one I'd have. I do plan on trying to build a partscaster like it. I also had a Tanglewood Acoustic just like yours. It was the best Acoustic I'd played. Should never have sold that guitar (needs must sadly) I got it with the same problem as yours, bridge came away from the body. I managed to fix it and I installed a Bridge Doctor I think it was called. Which made it solid again. Looking forward to your videos in 2024 and I really want to travel upto your neck of the woods for a gig. All the best Sir Dave 🎸
Wonderful video and a joyful journey through your collection. My favourites, there are a few. The Vintage V6 is up there, I think of your reaction when you first played it. The ML1, I have one the same and I feel that as a sort of connection, great guitar too. Then there’s the ML3 Pro X, I’ve been lucky enough to get one myself, although mine is in black metallic. Mr Whites 50’s brother is fantastic and I just had to get them together with you. The single most significant guitar in your collection for me is…. The Vintage Lemon Drop. That’s the guitar that I was searching a review for when I found your channel and subsequently found one of the most amazing people that I’ll ever be lucky enough to have as a friend. Thank you for all you do, the positive difference you make to me is immeasurable.

Happy New Year Dave. That 1984 Tokai Strat is my favourite ( well maybe the 62!) I have the same Tokai but with a maple neck. Had it since the late 80's, I agree with you, they are great guitars.
I like when you play the white Squier Jag.. It somehow looks like it perfectly fits in your hands, so natural. And you play little different with it. More to my own music taste.. this kind of alternative style.. cool thing indeed

Yes, merry new year and all that! That Hondo Strat copy in natural looks eerily similar to my 1975 Fender Strat. Mine's not a hardtail, though, but it's set up like one. Can't be bothered with all the faff of tremolos and their tuning issues and what-not.
Thanks for sharing your guitars and thoughts, I think I like them all, it’s a bit like Lego pieces they are priceless and need each other to build. You need Many guitars to make mush music and a variety of sounds and feelings come from each individual instrument
Cool collection!!! An Eko Ranger 12 string was the first guitar I ever bought from a shop, back in 1971. I still have it. It sat in our loft for probably 20 years. The soundboard is (understandably) cracked, though it's flattened out a lot since I brought it back down. I've since bought a Taylor 112, but I can't see myself ever getting rid of the Eko.
I love that you have cheaper guitars in your collection. Makes me feel better about my humble collection. The Mockingbird is my favorite shape of all the "wild" shaped models. Its bad ass enough for metal, but classy enough to look beautiful as well.
Affordable guitars are great. I, along with my others, have been victims of marketing. Companies like Fender & Gibson are very clever in that respect. We see our guitar heroes with Gibsons and Fenders and we subconsciously assume they're superior but they're not. I always remember going to a huge guitar shop in the 80s and I was bedazzled by all the American guitars. I was going around truing them but puzzlingly none of them were 'talking to me.' I then picked up a Japanese Washburn super strat (my sort of guitar back then but not now) and it felt and sounded immense. I couldn't believe how slick it felt in my hands and the tone was far better than the Gibsons and the Fenders to my ears at the time. Despite this my brain wouldn't and couldn't accept a Japanese guitar was better. Looking back now I realise how naive I was. If only I knew then what I know now lol. I'm not sure what the Washburn was but I think it may have been a G5v .

The one I would love to try out and see how it feels is your Oswald 'Splithead'. I love the look of that, although the BC Rich Mockingbird and the Columbus ES-335/330 are dark and mysterious. 😄 I think the one which I would like to see but would be scared to touch or maybe be even in the same room in would be Charlie's Telecaster because of the provenance and the history of how much Charlie and his guitar meant to you. Dear Dave, as someone so old that dirt knows my name and calls to me to get under it ... sell off all the Kinda Sorta ones. Get it down to 1 of each - by build type. You will then be able to have them at hand in the same place, and also if moving, it's easy. You are saying you don't play them - start with those. This is meant to be friendly advice from a pre-Corpse human.

I'm not sure if I have a favourite (although I'd love to try an oswald some day), but I love the way so many of these trigger specific reactions and stories from you. Re: "sitting comfortably", I have to confess that it took me three sittings to watch all of this. No rest for the wicked . . .
Luckily I have access to all my son's guitars so I can choose whichever I fancy on that day. Today I have learned the beginning riff to master of puppets which I remember my son learning 14 years ago. I'm sure he learned it a lot faster than I did 😂😂 Happy new year to you both ❤️

Great collection. There is nothing like the #1 it has that "It" factor that you can't replace. We can always love other ones but not like the #1.
Hang on, I forgot the Mockingbird, what a special day that was I picked it up in Nottingham in the morning, went to my first Trio gig in Newark in the afternoon before handing it over. It was a perfect example of how things can go smoothly when everything lines up.
Enjoyed every single second of this video. You have an amazing collection Sir Dave. I absolutely love the Oswald with the full rosewood neck. That neck, natural roasted body and the black pickguard and pickups ... beautiful! Thats the one I'd have. I do plan on trying to build a partscaster like it. I also had a Tanglewood Acoustic just like yours. It was the best Acoustic I'd played. Should never have sold that guitar (needs must sadly) I got it with the same problem as yours, bridge came away from the body. I managed to fix it and I installed a Bridge Doctor I think it was called. Which made it solid again. Looking forward to your videos in 2024 and I really want to travel upto your neck of the woods for a gig. All the best Sir Dave 🎸

Wonderful video and a joyful journey through your collection. My favourites, there are a few. The Vintage V6 is up there, I think of your reaction when you first played it. The ML1, I have one the same and I feel that as a sort of connection, great guitar too. Then there’s the ML3 Pro X, I’ve been lucky enough to get one myself, although mine is in black metallic. Mr Whites 50’s brother is fantastic and I just had to get them together with you. The single most significant guitar in your collection for me is…. The Vintage Lemon Drop. That’s the guitar that I was searching a review for when I found your channel and subsequently found one of the most amazing people that I’ll ever be lucky enough to have as a friend.

Happy New Year Dave. That 1984 Tokai Strat is my favourite ( well maybe the 62!) I have the same Tokai but with a maple neck. Had it since the late 80's, I agree with you, they are great guitars.

Yes, merry new year and all that! That Hondo Strat copy in natural looks eerily similar to my 1975 Fender Strat. Mine's not a hardtail, though, but it's set up like one. Can't be bothered with all the faff of tremolos and their tuning issues and what-not.
My first bought guitars is a Washburn bantam maverick too with double humbucker and Floyd Rose copy bridge.

An Eko Ranger 12 string was the first guitar I ever bought from a shop, back in 1971. I still have it. It sat in our loft for probably 20 years. The soundboard is (understandably) cracked, though it's flattened out a lot since I brought it back down. I've since bought a Taylor 112, but I can't see myself ever getting rid of the Eko.
I had a mid-70's Hondo II Strat: it was brilliant! Wish I still had it...

I love that you have cheaper guitars in your collection. Makes me feel better about my humble collection. The Mockingbird is my favorite shape of all the "wild" shaped models. Its bad ass enough for metal, but classy enough to look beautiful as well.
Affordable guitars are great. I, along with my others, have been victims of marketing. Companies like Fender & Gibson are very clever in that respect. We see our guitar heroes with Gibsons and Fenders and we subconsciously assume they're superior but they're not. I always remember going to a huge guitar shop in the 80s and I was bedazzled by all the American guitars. I was going around truing them but puzzlingly none of them were 'talking to me.' I then picked up a Japanese Washburn super strat (my sort of guitar back then but not now) and it felt and sounded immense. I couldn't believe how slick it felt in my hands and the tone was far better than the Gibsons and the Fenders to my ears at the time. Despite this my brain wouldn't and couldn't accept a Japanese guitar was better. Looking back now I realise how naive I was. If only I knew then what I know now lol. I'm not sure what the Washburn was but I think it may have been a G5v .

The one I would love to try out and see how it feels is your Oswald 'Splithead'. I love the look of that, although the BC Rich Mockingbird and the Columbus ES-335/330 are dark and mysterious. 😄 I think the one which I would like to see but would be scared to touch or maybe be even in the same room in would be Charlie's Telecaster because of the provenance and the history of how much Charlie and his guitar meant to you. Dear Dave, as someone so old that dirt knows my name and calls to me to get under it ... sell off all the Kinda Sorta ones. Get it down to 1 of each - by build type. You will then be able to have them at hand in the same place, and also if moving, it's easy. You are saying you don't play them - start with those. This is meant to be friendly advice from a pre-Corpse human.

Re: "sitting comfortably", I have to confess that it took me three sittings to watch all of this. No rest for the wicked . . .
Luckily I have access to all my son's guitars so I can choose whichever I fancy on that day. Today I have learned the beginning riff to master of puppets which I remember my son learning 14 years ago. I'm sure he learned it a lot faster than I did 😂😂

Bought a Vintage V6 Reissue before Xmas... a bit wary after some reviews but excellent as stock and superb value for money but converted to a 'Clapton Strat' even sweeter.Yesterday I was playing it alongside my Iconic from Anderton's and I was prefering the Vintage.
