I absolutely love The Cable Guy. Saw this at the movies because it came out around the same time as The Nutty Professor and it was sold out so we saw this instead not knowing what it was about just know Jim Carrey was in it. Enjoyed every second of it even tho I was pretty young I still found it hilarious. Brings back alot of memories. Thanks for a great reaction. 💯
Uh… no he’s not. That’s the beauty of him, he’s very talented and versatile and plays different characters in all of his movies and this movie just shows even further how talented and versatile he actually is. The only other comedian that was as versatile as him was Robin Williams. All other comedians play themselves in movies
Jim Carrey is in a psycho horror movie!! You have GOT to watch it. Called “the Number 23”. Great movie and Jim Carrey is frightfully amazing in the role.
Wow! There hasn’t been hardly any reactor that has watched the Cable Guy, you’re in for a big shock at the kind character that Jim Carrey plays in this movie
Ben Stiller directed this and it’s crazy to me that he’s REALLY just getting recognized for Severance. This was a Hitchcock style thriller with one of the greatest comedic actors of all time. Great comedians can become great actors. Not all, but Robin Williams, Jim has done some impressive work, but he never gets noticed because I think he’s written off as the goofy funny guy. Anyway, it’s such a great film and I love it more every time I see it. It just shows me something new to appreciate about Jim’s performance or the direction and the story. And Matthew was killer too.
This is such a good movie. The very first time that I saw this movie was when it came out on VHS and Home Video. And I really love Jim Carrey as an actor and as a person. This is such a funny movie. And to this day I still like this movie a lot. And it has been 27 years ago since The Cable Guy was first released in theaters.
The funny thing about this movie is alot of people like to say it was a flop, but it really wasn’t especially nowadays. In 1996, it probably did get some criticism from people but every review I’ve read on it has been very positive. Most people love this movie even though it’s considered Jim Carrey’s first flop
Jim Carrey is so vastly under rated as an actor. He’s done every sort of film I can think of besides action. He’s put in at least 3-5 Oscar worthy turns, but he gets left out of the conversation because he’s the funniest comedy actor in maybe two generations. It was really hard for Robin Williams to cross over, but once he did, that wealth of comedic insight gave him what it took to give some truly heart wrenching performances. I think, if Jim had been given an Oscar for something like the Truman Show early on, his career would have at least a few more nominations, maybe a win. I mean the Grinch, that make up is apart Jim’s face. If anyone else had played that roll it wouldn’t have been so special. It’s just like Andy and all his MoCAP work. Gollum, Ceasar, both incredibly deep and well realized characters and feel so real because Andy became an Ape to do it. It’s just sad that those sorts of crafts aren’t seen for the art forms they are. Especially you could say that in spite of the make up and costume, Jim still shines through. You wouldn’t ever have trouble guessing who’s in the suit. Oh and one more thing. Ben Stiller should get a lot of love for his direction. He has directed two of the best examples of films in their specific genre. Cable Guy is more of a dark comedy, ahead of it’s time really to be too successful, and Tropic Thunder, which is an action comedy so good that if you too the jokes out, it could just pass as a bad ass action film. He’s like Jim in that he was the funny guy and he’s really always wanted to direct, but hasn’t gotten so many shots at directing anything but comedy. Anyway, this is one of my favorite movies and I hope more people get acquainted with it from the reaction.
Jim Carrey is not underrated in anyway, shape or form!! I am so sick and tired of people falsely labeling everybody as “underrated” on TH-cam! Carrey is one of the biggest of all time, it doesn’t matter that he’s never won an Oscar, awards have very little to do with an actor’s recognition. He won 2 Golden Globes… one for the Truman Show and the other for Man on the Moon the following year. Were you not aware that he’s won 2 Golden Globes?
Wow, are we having some big feelings little buddy? Someone might need a nap or maybe a snack huu??? Or maybe someone had a rough day and wants to take it out on a strangers comment in the safety of the internet. Either way, maybe take a breathe, we wouldn’t want you to blow a gasket little guy. I have a couple points to back up my thoughts. First, I am very well aware of the awards Jim had won. But, and everyone understands this, to these folks a Golden Globe isn’t the same as an Oscar. Especially when winning your GG in the Comedy/Musical category, which is basically a throwaway category, used to give an award to another film that people feel deserves to be recognized as well. Secondly, Jim has clearly felt that his work has been under appreciated and has clearly wanted to explore more dramatic rolls. But, because of the comedy stigma, no major director is gonna come to Jim and ask him to be the lead in their next political thriller or character drama piece. So in those ways, Jim has been underrated over the years. Again, if you disagree, great. That’s freedom for you. Isn’t it grand little fella?
What's absolutely hilarious is when the Cable Guy dresses up as the nice guy and PBS Mr. Roger's, with the blue sweater, white t-shirt, and dark tie. It's a fun Easter egg thrown in the movie.
It’s funny how many notable people are in this movie, but weren’t famous yet. This was Owen Wilson’s first movie, Leslie Mann was an unknown at this point, and Jack Black wasn’t Jack Black yet. He was just an occasional background guy at the time.
You guys are too young to know, but Earnie (Chip) Douglas was a character from the 1960s TV series, My Three Sons, Chip was a kid that did resemble a young Jim Carrey.
@CinePals - This movie is truly an underrated one for the stunning performance by Jim Carrey who proves, once again, that he is such a talented and much more versatile actor than we tend to see him as. Another great movie, in the same vein, is 'The Number 23", in which Jim Carrey is playing a very different role in this Psychological thriller, directed by no other than Joel Schumacher (Faling down, Phone Booth,...)
This is my Favorite Jim Carry movie and TBH it used to be Ace Ventura when they both were Fresh out and for about the next 20 years it was Ace but as I've gotten older the more of a Power House this movie and Jim's acting has revealed itself to be. Looking back at it and just shifting the medium a tiny bit this movie is tackling such a huge and important issue. Instead of being raised by TV today kids are being raised by the internet, there are 3 year olds with child safe tablets watching YOU HOPE Cocomelon just as the controversy a few years back showed there are a lot of highly inappropriate videos getting fed to these kids because the Algo doesn't know the thumbnail with Frozen Elsa and Spiderman with a multicolored child friendly background marked kid friendly isn't actually. Gen Alpha forward are more at risk of becoming Jim's character than my Gen was back when it came out, scary stuff.
I’m glad you see that. I’m so sick of people always dismissing him as just another typical comedian who always does true samething all the time because that’s false
The funniest thing about the bathroom scene is the fact Owen Wilsons character was so douchie that Robin probably wouldn't have even wanted to go on another date with him anyway. So him beating him up was entirely unnecessary.
Not everyone gets the "Chip Douglas, Larry Tate" jokes. Characters from 60s sitcoms. Or the prison scene, taken from one of the many iconic scenes from "Midnight Express'.

I swear to Big G this is the most underrated Carrey flick ever!!! It's even funnier for me because this was around the time my household got cable and I used to binge watch whenever it came up on HBO, which of course was like 4 times a day!! 😅
@@AlbertoMartinez765 nah, people like to say it was a flop but it really wasn’t. People love this movie especially nowadays. If you wanna talk about an underrated Jim Carrey movie that would be Me, Myself and Irene… that movie is way more underrated than Cable Guy is
An underrated favorite. It's a tragic thriller comedy. And has one of the best music performances ever in a movie. In some ways I can relate to Chip. Some of my favorite parts didn't make the cut in this video.
I mean, they are pretty young, and the film is hilarious even without any of the quote references. I had to watch it twice to really get a lot of the plot, and I still find new things every time I watch it.
Cable Guy bombed when it was released. Great movie and great role for Carrey but way too ahead of its time. Way darker than people expected and people were not yet used to the kind of comedies that made you cringe and be super uncomfortable like Meet the Parents, There’s Something about Mary etc.
If yall liked this, should check out The Number 23, also a different type of Jim Carrey movie. Then there's Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. Such a good movie.
Dude!!! I'm not an American and saw this in theaters back in the 90s. Are you telling me Medieval Times is a real restaurant?!!??? I thought it was a made-up place for the movie!!! That's awesome!!!!🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Oh my God I just realized Owen Wilson was in this movie I can’t believe this. I saw this movie when I was 11 years old and Owen Wilson was in Cabke Guy and I’m just realizing that now. Same with Jack Black.
Great reaction. I love this movie! But to Kristen, I hope you don’t think your story happens to regular people. The guy you were staring at and went up to thought you are hot. Just saying, that reaction of wanting to be actual friends with the person staring at you doesn’t happen unless they’re attracted to you.
You said you love me. Do you really love me? *creepy eyes* lol jk. Good jim carey movie. Bummer that you cut out the main line. The crux of the film. "Somebody has to kill the babysitter" this was back when people were affraid the future will look like... well how it is now. People are raised by internet and movies and online communities.this movie is greatly underrated. I think it's scarier than most horror movies.
I wish Jaby would do polls and ask us the audience what we want them to react too wether here or on patreon, don't get me wrong generally speaking I enjoy most of the reactions but there's some I have no interest in lol I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way, assuming y'all haven't seen them in your own personal time, I can think of some masterpieces that aren't on this channel, anyways that's all lol continued success 🙏

Ok I watched Truman show reaction on other channel. Wanted to watch this movies reaction, search and found it was upload 1 day ago. Good for me. Liked this movie a lot
The movie that Chip was watching as a kid is "Play Misty For Me" (1971) about a stalker.
I absolutely love The Cable Guy. Saw this at the movies because it came out around the same time as The Nutty Professor and it was sold out so we saw this instead not knowing what it was about just know Jim Carrey was in it. Jim Carrey did do a Horror movie... It's called, The Number 23. It would be nice to see someone react to that overlooked work of "art" 🤘😎
Dude I was a cable guy for 8 years. Always loved this movie. Great reaction. 😂😂👏🥰
Is your name Chip?
If you're interested, Jim Carrey, Judd Apatow and Ben Stiller did a commentary for this movie! Well worth it!
This is a darker film for Carrey, but he's still Jim Carrey. His shenanigans keep even the blackest moments goofy.
Uh… no he’s not. That’s the beauty of him, he’s very talented and versatile and plays different characters in all of his movies and this movie just shows even further how talented and versatile he actually is. The only other comedian that was as versatile as him was Robin Williams. All other comedians play themselves in movies
Medieval times and karaoke sounds like an awesome and fun night with Kristen!
"The number 23" is also a great serious movie to watch.
The Cable Guy is not a serious movie. Why do some people think that?? It’s very much a comedy, it’s just a dark comedy
Yes jim carrey really sings during the karaoke scene he even has a credit on the soundtrack
Kristen lookin fine even in a ponytail. 😉
One of Jim's more underrated works. It's definitely got its niche following.
Few cameos I noticed in the video not mentioned: Bob Odenkirk, Janeane Garofolo, Andy Dick, Rage Cage!
Ben Stiller directed this and it’s crazy to me that he’s REALLY just getting recognized for Severance. This was a Hitchcock style thriller with one of the greatest comedic actors of all time. This is an underrated movie.

I never understood the hate for this movie ever since it came out it’s the most underrated Carrey movie
What's absolutely hilarious is when the Cable Guy dresses up as the nice guy and PBS Mr. Roger's, with the blue sweater, white t-shirt, and dark tie. It's a fun Easter egg thrown in the movie.
So criminally under appreciated.

My first movie i ever saw in a theatre. Love it
Awesome reaction of my favorite Jim Carrey movie!!!!!😊😊😊😊
You guys are too young to know, but Earnie (Chip) Douglas was a character from the 1960s TV series, My Three Sons, Chip was a kid that did resemble a young Jim Carrey.
Jim Carrey's best film by far. One of all my all time favorite films. Grossly underrated.
@CinePals - This movie is truly an underrated one for the stunning performance by Jim Carrey who proves, once again, that he is such a talented and much more versatile actor than we tend to see him as. Jim Carrey is one of a kind actor.
I’m glad you see that. I’m so sick of people always dismissing him as just another typical comedian who always does true samething all the time because that’s false
You mentioned wanting to see Jack Black in serious roles. Two good examples are Bernie and The Polka King
The Jim Carrey horror movie you’re looking for exists and is called “The Number 23”
I didn’t for Number 23 because I just couldn’t see him in a role like that. I couldn’t wrap my head around him being a dark psychological thriller
The funniest thing about the bathroom scene is the fact Owen Wilsons character was so douchie that Robin probably wouldn't have even wanted to go on another date with him anyway. So him beating him up was entirely unnecessary.
Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson are good buddies. That’s probably why he was in the movie since Stiller directed it
It was just another variant on a branched timeline for mobius
Shallow Hal is a must see for Jack Black fans 😊
Another role on the serious side for Jack Black also occurred in the late 90s.
Enemy Of The State starring Will Smith and Gene Hackman
The high point of thid channel in 2023 was Kristen crying and trying to laugh at the same time in Armaggeddon.
Won't be beating that anytime soon.
Not everyone gets the "Chip Douglas, Larry Tate" jokes. Characters from 60s sitcoms. Or the prison scene, taken from one of the many iconic scenes from "Midnight Express'.
Another interesting thing about this movie was that the message behind is that people are so consumed by tv
16:16 he said begging not banging smh 😂

Jim Carrey is the best! His acting capabilities are awesome 👏🏼
Underrated comedy
I swear to Big G this is the most underrated Carrey flick ever!!! It's even funnier for me because this was around the time my household got cable and I used to binge watch whenever it came up on HBO, which of course was like 4 times a day!! 😅

How could Kristen blank on who the Big Show is? 🤣🤣
I love Jim’s character quoting movies, you wouldn’t have knowing that watching this reaction lol
I mean, they are pretty young, and the film is hilarious even without any of the quote references. I had to watch it twice to really get a lot of the plot, and I still find new things every time I watch it.
This movie takes me right back to my childhood great reaction to this movie.
Amazing reaction from them both loved every second of it 😂
36:30 Yeah that's the problem. He wanted a friend way TOO badly. Desperation is very unattractive 😂
oooh Billy !!!!

nothing to be ashamed of if you look like jim carrey doing karaoke, this is the best karaoke scene in all cinema!
Kristen recovered from the Armageddon reatcion? :D
Another lighthearted but serious movie of jim carrey is " The Majestic",
you both should watch all Jim Carrey movies!
37:16 His face!!! Priceless!!! 😂😅😂😂😂
The first time i saw jack black was in a movie called Airbourne. He played a highschool bully. Its crazy how different his characters are now
“A wizard of many faces” LOL
First time here. Live the Chemistry between you guys! Thanks for the epic reaction to this comedy classic.
Dude!!! I'm not an American and saw this in theaters back in the 90s.
Are you telling me Medieval Times is a real restaurant?!!???
I thought it was a made-up place for the movie!!! That's awesome!!!!🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Such an overlooked movie. I also never gave it a chance. Until i was forced to watch it and i loved it.
Whatever drugs Jim Carrey is on in this movie, I want them!
We all wish we had half the talent Jim has. The best part about him is how versatile he is
He seems like he's on drugs in almost all his comedy movies lol
I just subscribed. I hope you do/or did watch Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Jim Carrey is really good in it.
*Oh Billy*
If you committed to being his friend, i'm sure it would be a pretty fun and wild friendship Because he knows how to have fun
For a very wonderful yet un-Jim Carey-like performance, watch The Majestic. It’s his most straightforward dramatic performance and he is great in it.
I think Jim Carrey said in an interview that he's pretty much done with acting 😢
