    ben stiller is really an underrated director. deserves much more credit than he gets. also glad this movie has retroactively found an audience after all these years, I always thought it was also criminally underrated

      People expected a full on Jim Carrey comedy but instead got a more darker and sad story. The movie is actually a masterpiece. People didn't really fancy the Trumanshow either, which made Jim Carey joke about people not really knowing what to think about him in drama. But I think people can look back today and go Wow, because these movies are really well made and amazing.

    I know this wasn't a hit when it came out but when I was a teenager, late 90's to early 00's, everyone loved it. I think it's mostly because Ace Ventura 1 and 2 made us all think anything Jim Carrey did was divine.

    This making of, shows me that Jim Carrey made it ;D lol The medieval times, the fighting moves, the great singing, the slam dunk, the playing with food, all his ideas & improvisation ;D.
    And Ben Stiller as an director captured all of it really well. Matthew played his role great too, believably normal person, yet to experience such an intrusive friend.

    Quite possibly my favorite movie of all time.. definitely my favorite comedy movie ever.. it's truly a masterpiece, so well written, very well directed, the acting is so good. You can almost quote every single line in the movie. would love to see a sequel with the entire cast back again, give Jack Black and Ben Stiller larger roles this time

      @@xjcrossxI disagree, I know this is gonna hurt your feelings probably… But Chris Farley wasn’t that good, he had his moments when he was funny but that was it… nothing he did outside of SNL was good aside from Tommy Boy. Everything he did after was a flop, his footage of voicing Shrek wasn’t that good. I guarantee you that Shrek would’ve sucked had Farley done it instead of Mike Myers

      I could easily see Chris in the role! I could see him entertaining the family by doing enormous belly flops on the floor instead of playing the porno password game, as he did on Saturday Night Live! This might have been an even funnier scene with Chris doing this!😂

    This movie was ahead of it's time, dark comedies were not looked upon good, and people didn't like this movie because it was too dark. I saw it in the theater I think I was 15 and it was awesome loved it since I first saw it, and it's Carrey's best movie IMO.

    That pick up basketball game really stands out to me as I played until my mid 40's and so many games there was a JIM CARREY like guy who would ruin it for everyone else! The guy who every time he missed a shot would call FOUL and the GUY who had no concept of the PASSING to an open TEAM MATE and the guy who just made a fun day into a day you wished you never showed up to play! hahaha

    I ran into the Apatow family at a recent charity event, and when I saw Leslie in this video at 16:07, I was amazed thinking how her daughter Iris looks exactly like her. Judd is a lucky man and has done really well for himself.

    I have to imagine, at least Jim, Ben, and Matthew went on 'Montezuma's Revenge' while they were shooting in the OC. It wasn't cool at first when they let 'Jaguar' go through the loop but it grew on me. 'Boomerang' is another classic.

      That’s because people didn’t know at the time that he was incredibly versatile and talented, and it pisses me off that some people still don’t know that. They still dismiss him as repetitive comedian even though they’ve seen him play different characters in all of his movies 🙄

      EXACTLY! Chris Farley wasn’t that good in general… that’s why he didn’t have much of a career outside of SNL. All of his diehard fans make him out to be this incredible comedian… he wasn’t. He had his moments when he was funny, that was it. His footage of Shrek wasn’t that good and the movie wouldn’t have been as good if it was him instead of Mike Myers doing Shrek

    if jimmy is really acting without any used of drugs to let him be like that.like cok or crack or any blood or pumming energy.i just find him amazing.what he do to actin is like a full workout.i bet he is tired everday and sleep soundly cus the way he even act need many energy to act like that faace body and voice you need to pull all up.and i just find him doing that much to act i kinda more respect him
