I have the OG and slim select versions of the 112 and they are some of my absolute favorite blades. Love your videos man. Been watching for a long time and have watched tons of your content. Thanks for sharing it with us!
I have one with the orange scales. Out of the box the knife had issues where it did not close properly. I contacted Buck and they had me send in my knife. It was fixed and sent back in less than a week from when they got it. Great service. I love this knife and carry mine daily.
Modern materials and the weight reduction are big winners. The looks of the original win over the Slim Pro, but that's personal and a choice between looks and upgrade materials. Thank you Matt.
I like this version a lot! Modern materials and lighter weight make it good for pocket carry where the original was more of a belt knife. I would probably put a snaggletooth on that 112!
Nice knife Matt….. I wasn’t sure if the thumb studs would get in the way of sharpening I’ve heard people say the thumb studs were huge….. I wanted to thank you for your kind words you did on you and thriftys show……. I couldn’t believe you guys put me so high in the rankings….. I was flattered I never had anything that happened to me that was so nice…… thanks again be well Matt😊
Thank you, thank you thank you, Thank you for showing the stop pin on the inside That was the only thing preventing me from purchasing this $100 knife (well, also, I don’t have $100) Ha. Thanks again !
I just received 3. 112 black, 112 orange, 110 orange… I took all three apart and there are no stop pins… Oh well. I’ll keep them. Can you squeeze the blade in the closed position on yours? (Press it while closed and it will pivot the lock bar) Thanks for checking, thanks for replying!
Happy Monday Mr. Slipjoint, growing up in London in the late 60's I bought my first Buck 110 Folding Hunter when I was 16, in those days it was a legal carry. Nowadays here in Tel Aviv I still have 4 Buck knives, the classic wooden handled 110 Folding Hunter & 112 Ranger and 2 lightweight plastic handled models, the 110 Hunter LT & the 112 Ranger Slim Select. I don't usually carry the wooden handled models but both the 110 LT & 112 SS are in my summer EDC rotation & on the 3 that don't come with a thumbstud's I have added brass & stainless steel thumbstud's, I actually bought the Chinese made clones of the Kwik US designed thumbstuds (which are made in China anyway!) at a third of the cost of Kwik's.
I'm conflicted about the modernization of the classics, be that knives, music, cars... I can appreciate that it is technically superior but the original is still more desirable. A 2023 Corvette looks great and is probably superior to a 1963 Corvette every way, yet I'd still rather have a 60 year old 'vette than a new one. With knives it's much easier to have both. Even if $ was no object, I'm driving the 63' vette to Post Falls, Idaho (Buck HQ) and I'm almost certainly packing a classic 112/110 too.
Slippy is getting into to the premium knives now. Fancy. Seriously though it looks to be very nice. I have been so close to getting that one several times. I keep going back and forth between it and the sport. I'm sure I will get one or the other at some point. The Saunter was delivered a couple of days ago. I have been carrying it. It's awesome.
I really want to like these knives but after my time with the buck110, i just can't pull the trigger.the sport would be my first choice but i can see the advantages of this model.thanks for sharing.atb paddy 👍.
I just purchased a TRX 110 and it's supposed to arrive on the 6th, and I already have a slim select 110 with a Micarta handle, so this is my 2nd of the slim 110s.
Hey Matt 👊 Great knife, classic lines with modern materials - a 'win, win'! I've been eyeing 👀 up a Buck or two myself, recently. I love the traditional pattern, all wood, solid brass or NS bolsters etc... However, for the UK market, I agree this is better suited. I wish they did a 'UKPK' 112 Buck - that would be awesome!👌 Clearly, we may have to petition them... 😁 Good review, Atb Gus 👍
Sort of takes care of the main complaint I hear surrounding the 110 and 112 that they are boat anchors. The g10 does look plenty sturdy. While the S30V is a nice upgrade, I think I still do prefer the shape of the original clip point a touch more. A good excuse to own both. Thanks, Slippy.👍
It's undoubtedly a very nice knife, but the original has the tradditional looks that I prefer, plus more character and history. But to each their own as the saying goes lol.
The 112 and a "newer" version or two is on my shortlist(next time I break my pledge not to buy anymore knves). I can say I'm not a fan of the thumb studs on the classic version.
The 112 is the BEST!!! I have 3 different versions as you know and will be picking up more!! Thanks for sharing!!
I love it! Thanks for watching Jer! 🫡

Awesome stuff Steve! My qwik stud is also a cheaper one from eBay same job half the price 😂🫡
Love that they have just given it a modern twist. You can still tell it’s a Buck knife.
Great review, thanks for sharing 😁
Thanks for watching!
This version is definitely appealing to me, particularly the slimmer design. Thanks for showing it!
Glad you like it!
That's a great knife! I am thinking about getting the slim select.
You should, I have my father's old slim select 112, blade is worn down but a great knife 🫡
That’s a cracking knife😎
Love my 112 and the TRX version look great
Cheers Slippy 👍🏻
Thanks Sean 🫡🙏🏼

Slippy dabbles in premium but only occasionally 😂 glad you're enjoying the Saunter! What blade did you get?!
I also got a 722 Spitfire today. The handles are almost the same, but the 112 Slim blade is about a 1/4 inch shorter.

I would buy that all day long if they did a Slipjoint 112 🙏🏼🫡

For me I think the slimmer version works as it's more discreet to carry, but I prefer the overall looks of the original 🙏🏼🫡
just got mine in the same color today. My only change would be the drop point s30V blade.
Thanks for watching
Great looking knife! I need to try a 112 never owned one!!
Get shopping Mike 🙏🏼🫡
Very nice. I have the normal 112 and i love it.
Right on brother 🙏🏼

@@SlipjointSawyer I'm sure. I kind of look at my RAT 1 as a "modern" 110.
You can’t carry a pocketknife in the UK?
We can, just one that doesn't lock and has a blade length less than 3 inches

The thumb studs look ugly it’s too bad
They are way too chunky

Just carry whatever you want, do cops actually go out of their way to search you guys there?
I've never had an issue
