a tip for those 20minute defence missions is that for optimal completion you don't want to focus on red stratagems, bring mostly turrets (at least 2 turrets per squad member) and a recoilless rifle and another person with a similar loadout. Have one person have the backpack, and one with the rifle which allows you to perform an instant team reload, which allows you to destroy enemy dropships, preventing new waves from spawning altogether. Me and a buddy did this and the sheer amount of destroyed illuminate dropships that we killed piled up to create massive barrier walls which prevented most of the enemies that did spawn from advancing towards us.
And don't call every turret down at once! Stagger the call ins so that there is ALWAYS a turret up and running. Too often with random players do I see 4+ turrets out at once. Then once they all finish, the team quickly gets overwhelmed.
This is a *terrific* guide for new players to get up to speed. A few tips aren't 100% accurate, but for what this guide is trying to do, they're not worth quibbling over. I'm absolutely bookmarking this to share with folks who want to know more.
Some notes on these tips: 19. White sparks indicates that you still deal reduced damage to enemies 26. But failed extraction reduces your liberation progress impact to planet from that mission(-30%) 27. Range also depends on ship upgrades 37. Unless enemies already inside smoke near you 44. Also you can look for suddenly appearing big red dots near you on the minimap to find stalkers 54. Bile titan can even kill himself with his own bile if he standing right in front of wall or shield generator while attacking 71. But using attacking(red) stratagem near them will reveal your position to enemies instead 77. If stratagem bounced of some object after throw, then the direction will change 81. Diving gives your stealth properties of being prone while keeping high speed 82. Better aim to ship itself to kill all enemies on it. Destroying thruster will cause ship to fall, but most enemies on ship will survive 94. Also eruptor, wasp launcher, mid-air rocket launcher and any anti-tank weapons
Here’s a tip that works that if you’re willing to risk it. The stratagem scrammers can be destroyed with any automaton cannon round. Such as the ones found in annihilator tanks, cannon towers, and the factory striders top cannon. Dive your way up to the top of the scrammer and shoot towards any of these enemies and if it hits the scrammer, it destroys it. It’s definitely risky but a bot drop is called in and disabling the scrammer isn’t an option, then this is the next best thing.
Additional Tips Shoulder Swap (Credit: Marku5GG) - PS5 -> Double Tap O while aiming - PC -> Side Mouse Button while aiming Illegal Broadcast Tower - Also destroyed by 1 hit from Auto-Cannon / Any Rocket / Quasar Cannon MPOIs - When using Scout Armor Perk, place a marker on the map and wait for the Ping / If enemies appear stationary, it’s most likely an MPOI (if the cursor itself isn’t revealing MPOIs) - SEAF Artillery Cannons appear on the map as 2 almost perfect circles - Stalker Lairs appear as a sort of jagged circle (stands out from other structures, a bit hard to explain, sorry) Samples At Extraction - Drop Samples, Larva Backpack, Mutated Egg AND Automaton Info Head at extraction SEAF Shell Load - Load shells in a chosen specific order (Best to Worst / Worst to Best) - Example Load Order Worst to Best -> Smoke / Static / Explosive / Napalm / High Yield / Mini Nuke (or vice versa / this helps with memorization and shell counting) - Activating the terminal OR grabbing a SEAF shell can both cause a patrol spawn Chargers - 1 Thermite to the rear abdomen will kill any Charger Spewers - 1 Grenade to the rear abdomen (shown in video) from the Grenade Pistol will eliminate Bile and Nursing Spewers Lidar Station - The terminal indicates the direction the satellite must face for connection from a top down perspective with the player always at the bottom point of the circle on the terminal / The satellite turns the OPPOSITE way that you turn the wheel (hopefully that helps for quicker connection) Stalkers - Stalkers will USUALLY jump away from the player TOWARD their lair after taking a certain amount of damage without dying / Players can USUALLY follow the direction of their leap to find the Stalker Lair Fabricators - 1 Thermite can destroy a Fabricator Hellbombs - Hellbombs can destroy Bot Detector Towers from OUTSIDE the outpost / throw the Hellbomb as close as possible to the closest outer wall, arm and run - Hellbombs can be called in anywhere as long as you are holding the Hellbomb stratagem activated in your hand, once thrown however the stratagem will no longer be available Detector Towers - Detector Towers can be taken down with the Orbital Precision Strike as well as the 500KG as stated in the video
Partially completing the main objective causes more patrols to spawn, by a LOT. Destroying more than half of the spawners also causes only a little more patrols to spawn. Having more spawners on the map (POIs, static enemy spawns, ALSO fabricators/bug holes) increases the amount of directions a patrol can spawn. Otherwise they are forced to spawn from the edge of the map, which you normally avoid. Which means on average less spawns. So if you destroy fabricators/bug holes, and also destroys all POI/static enemy spawns, you actually end up encountering less enemies. The amount of patrols ramps up when you start doing the main objective.
Shriekers can kill you if you are lying prone. It can be due to elevation or most probably when you don't move (and just go prone) when they spot you. Target prioritization will be dependent on what you have. Prioritize heavies if you have anti-heavy support gems, or chaff if you have the equipment for it. Say if I have a recoilless, I'll focus on chaffs first but as soon as heavies appear and we have aggro, they become priority 1. There is no real upside in waiting for them to get near. I might miss my shot, they might harass my team mates causing downtime, etc. Alternatively, If I have chaff-medium clear like the WASP equipped, I'm really not going to bother much with heavies. You shouldn't avoid taking out spawners. The more you do this, the longer it will take for you to reach Super Private status. You're also going to miss out on samples. The more you clear, the harder it gets - true, but you get used to it.
I have been hit on certain elevations before and wondered if it was a fluke or not, good info! I 100% agree with you its definitely situation and in general one could dedicate an entire video or more to that tip/topic. Personally I like to Full Clear almost every run but thats not everyones style so I put the tip out there for those that just want to speed run the main mission.
11:43 Slugger and Arc Thrower can't open these containers anymore however you can also open these with hellpods like resupply and support weapons if you ran out of grenades
Yeah, I was a day 1 player and I was so confused it's like as if he was simply copy pasting everything from reddit even if it's outdated information. Do you know if they reverted the arc thrower charge tech? I remember AH removed it saying it wasn't intentional.
14:30 actually, destroying all spawners makes so that when extracting, the enemy wave will only come from one direction. It also reduce the patrol scaling after finishing objectives
13:28 (Tip 82) If you have a recoilless rifle do NOT aim for the engines on the dropship as it will not kill all the bots on board. Aim for the head or the spine. If the ship cracks in half before it drops its troops, this will kill all the bots on board. If you aim for the engine, only small bots might die, but the bigger ones survive.
The W.A.S.P. also closes bug holes (please don't nerf it), it can fire a single shot, and targets more bugs then you'd think and at a great distance. The LIDAR dish is facing 6 o'clock by default. Right is clockwise, left is counterclockwise. On console, ADS quickly lowers your map. On a map the offers a hellbomb strat you can continually use the strat as long as you do not destroy that objective, good for when a base is near by. Cheap but effective. When on the run, kiting mobs around hardened terran (buildings, walls, hills, debris) pulls them into a choke point where fewer granades are needed. Tip 64 - dolphin diving FTW 🐬 Flinging a turrets out in front of you when being chased like you're in a boy band will protect you from having to hump the bunk
Ok i kinda have a quick hack for useing stratagems. I play on a day one steam deck, iv used and abused this hand held almost every day. My left joy stick works but gets stuck in the forward position so it allows me to enter any strategems with ease while still at full sprint and able to still pick the run direction and still climbing over obstacles, all while entering my strategems or calling oeople back in.😂
Im sure it's been done on other videos but you probably could have dove into the map in more detail. It is really a pro player who can quickly spot SEAF Artillery, sample rock, SAM sights, bunkers, etc just from zooming in on the map. Particularly on those 12 minute matches on super helldive that has 5 optional objectives. I find more often than not I'm the only one marking right after we drop. Usually i tag everything quickly in sight like disrupter towers or radar stations and then mark the Artillery so we can get it early and use it. Just seems like most ppl, even lvl150s just call down support weapons and charge to the nearest red spot and rely on luck to stumbled upon side objectives.
When I use supply backpack I chase my teammates energycaly. It’s like petting a dog that has been abused during his lifetime, they don’t know what to do with this kind of love
Not a tip but more of a fun fact. If u have a heavy armour on at full HP and somehow overcharge the railgun in unsafe mode, it'll blow up but won't kill you. You'll still have a sliver of HP left.
Thermite grenades will kill nearly every heavy with one grenade regardless of where it sticks, and can even kill hulks and chargers if they stand over the fire damaging part of the grenade before the explosion. Hulks can be hit in their arms or legs, Chargers on their backs and sides, and tanks can be stuck anywhere with them. Bile Titans and Factory Striders are a bit more nuanced on needing to hit them in key locations like the face, or underbelly respectively.
Thats good to know! I had times where I'd stick 1 thermite and the unit wouldnt die so the locations I listed were the ones I had most success when using only 1 thermite. Not sure why it didnt alwaus elimiate certain targets.
Tip: lock your fps to 60 if you're recording a 60 fps video. It will reduce stutters and screen tearing. (and enable motion blur to improve smoothness but that's up to you)
74. You can also open containers with the Laser Cannon. The Quasar Cannon will also do it, but not all explosive weapons seem to be effective. Like, the Plasma Punisher won't open one.
The broadcast towers can be destroyed by anything with enough demolition. The x-bow, grenade pistol and impacts(almost any exploding nade) are what I run on bots and squids if I miss the tower with the hellpod
What is the fastest way to drop a package like the ssd and black box? Its annoying that you can't call in strategems and i find myself pulling out my support weapon just to drop it fast but if i dont have a support weapon, i run the xbow so no workie for primary, i do an emote like hug and it drops but i usually keep it on kick for second melee option which doesn't drop it and now im stuck removing my left thumb from the left analog stick to open the emote wheel or the drop item wheel and the take my right thumb off to select drop. I just dont think its acceptable to be in a situation where you need a strategem and then have to remove both thumbs and loose complete movement control. Is there other options I'm missing to quickly drop? Maybe i need to just lay off the spartan kicks and keep it on salute?
Im sorry but that orbital max range tip is so generic, safe ranges are: 380 before ship upgrade 80m after upgrade 60m, 120 before upgrade 60m after 40m. Walking barrage is about 35m behind the beam and then it move forward. Orbital napalm is the same as a 380
Thanks for the correction, I'll make sure to get it right in my next video! Since rhis was 100 tips I attemped to keep most of them under/around 10 seconds so it indeed is generic.
If you have a teammate(like myself) who can survive going and doing side objectives solo, let them. It is more time effective to run in split groups, if capable. If you're NOT capable of staying alive without help, then don't do it. Mistakes happen, and you might die from something silly, but if you go off and die 10 times while alone, then don't go at it alone. I had a teammate do this recently. He kept splitting from the group, and died so many times. He died 14 times. Treat the missions where you raise the flag like a defense mission. These are the most difficult missions at high difficulties, because it is easy to get overwhelmed. Set up defenses BEFORE you call the flag down. Turrets and stratagems that affect a large area are highly recommended. Try to keep at least one diver in range of the flag for it to raise, because the more it 'resets' the more difficult it is. Even if you aren't using a mic, listen for if teammates are, or if they are using text chat. It could save your life. More than once I have either said on mic or typed in chat that I was throwing a barrage and to stay clear, only to have a teammate go right in the middle of the area and die. I don't just throw it right away, either. I give a good few seconds of a window for them to notice the message/get out. If you die to a stratagem that you were warned about, then it's 100% your fault. Don't get mad.
if you need to refire another rocket, it much faster if you just hit "c" to standup, no need to get the weapon swap animation before refiring if needed. I only ever use the primary weapon swap if I'm going to run to the next area or if there enemy infantry nearby still.
personally, I prefer not rebinding the wasd for the strategems, as I can deploy them so fast, that I rarely need it while moving, in addition, I usually have a stun nade with me so I can stun before using my strategems.
Saying the rail cannin can kill almost any enemy in 1 hit is not a useful tip. Tbh its cooldown is not worth what it can do, as it cant 1shot factory striders, and sometimes still struggkes with BTs and tripods. A better tip is if your learn the aim and timing OPS is better in every situation. But aby AT support weaoon is just better
More ppl need to pay attention to tip 36 lol. Great vid! I've moved on from DMZ but would be totally down for more HD videos and/or streams as this is my go-to game till Delta Force gets controller compatability. I'm Level 80 and learned a lot of new things.
Ya know I think a better way I could've worded it was to say that FPS Mode helps provide the ability to better control the recoil, ty for the correction!
wait... Why does destroying bug hives/ bot factories INCREASE enemy patrols?! I always thought I'm doing this to weaken their patrol density and reduce enemy spawns when they call in reinforcements. Kind of a bummer, that it's exactly the other way around, wtf. From that 100 tips I didn't know all and I have over 100 hours in mission time. Thanks for the many interesting tips and tricks!
Honestly its quite complicated and there's a large reddit thread that covers how it all works, to explain would be a full video in itself. But ya I agree its kinda whack in a sense lol. I'm really glad you found some value even as a Veteran!
How many samples do you currently need to unlock every thing Cause I was thinking of stocking to max number rather than buy 1 upgrade at a time I have all the first upgrades
Its honestly quite complicated and complex how spawns and patrols all work in Helldivers 2. There's a long reddit post that breaks down how it all works.
@@Marku5GG I just jumped into a mission, the animation still happens even when you swap your weapon. After swapping, the charging handle will move on its own without the Helldiver grabbing it, but it still happens.

EDIT: I think it's just for controllers... keyboard & mouse can't do it #14 is so IMPORTANT but nobody EVER uses it... #49 - THIS IS FALSE. Additional Tips
Shoulder Swap (Credit: Marku5GG)
- PS5 -> Double Tap O while aiming
- PC -> Side Mouse Button while aiming
Illegal Broadcast Tower
- Also destroyed by 1 hit from Auto-Cannon / Any Rocket / Quasar Cannon
MPOIs
- When using Scout Armor Perk, place a marker on the map and wait for the Ping / If enemies appear stationary, it’s most likely an MPOI (if the cursor itself isn’t revealing MPOIs)
- SEAF Artillery Cannons appear on the map as 2 almost perfect circles
- Stalker Lairs appear as a sort of jagged circle (stands out from other structures, a bit hard to explain, sorry)
Samples At Extraction
- Drop Samples, Larva Backpack, Mutated Egg AND Automaton Info Head at extraction
SEAF Shell Load
- Load shells in a chosen specific order (Best to Worst / Worst to Best)
- Example Load Order Worst to Best -> Smoke / Static / Explosive / Napalm / High Yield / Mini Nuke (or vice versa / this helps with memorization and shell counting)
- Activating the terminal OR grabbing a SEAF shell can both cause a patrol spawn
Chargers
- 1 Thermite to the rear abdomen will kill any Charger
Spewers
- 1 Grenade to the rear abdomen (shown in video) from the Grenade Pistol will eliminate Bile and Nursing Spewers
Lidar Station
- The terminal indicates the direction the satellite must face for connection from a top down perspective with the player always at the bottom point of the circle on the terminal / The satellite turns the OPPOSITE way that you turn the wheel (hopefully that helps for quicker connection)
Stalkers
- Stalkers will USUALLY jump away from the player TOWARD their lair after taking a certain amount of damage without dying / Players can USUALLY follow the direction of their leap to find the Stalker Lair
Fabricators
- 1 Thermite can destroy a Fabricator
Hellbombs
- Hellbombs can destroy Bot Detector Towers from OUTSIDE the outpost / throw the Hellbomb as close as possible to the closest outer wall, arm and run
- Hellbombs can be called in anywhere as long as you are holding the Hellbomb stratagem activated in your hand, once thrown however the stratagem will no longer be available
Detector Towers
- Detector Towers can be taken down with the Orbital Precision Strike as well as the 500KG as stated in the video

10:21 Thermite grenades will also one-shot cannon turrets, mortars, and anti-air emplacements!
True!!
Not a tip but more of a fun fact. If u have a heavy armour on at full HP and somehow overcharge the railgun in unsafe mode, it'll blow up but won't kill you. You'll still have a sliver of HP left.
Heavy Armor can be pretty sweet in moments like those!
11:43 Containers can also be opened with the LAS-98 Laser Cannon, it will also avoid setting off any explosive barrels that happen to be close by.
I'll definitely remember this one, I was using the AMR for Super Credit farming to avoid the barrels but this sounds more my style!
A impact grenade on a certain angle will also not set off the barrels. I usually throw it beside the top right of a container
Always return a hug always hell diving is hard sometimes we need huggies
So important and often overlooked 🫡
Not true, some times you need to throw a second thermite. Sometimes it's a one thermite kill but most of the time you need to attach two.
Tip: lock your fps to 60 if you're recording a 60 fps video. It will reduce stutters and screen tearing. (and enable motion blur to improve smoothness but that's up to you)
True! As does recording in other intervals of 60 fps such as 120,180,etc.
@@Marku5GG right on 👍
74. You can also open containers with the Laser Cannon. The Quasar Cannon will also do it, but not all explosive weapons seem to be effective. Like, the Plasma Punisher won't open one.
Good to know! I wouldve never even thought the laser would open it
The broadcast towers can be destroyed by anything with enough demolition. The x-bow, grenade pistol and impacts(almost any exploding nade) are what I run on bots and squids if I miss the tower with the hellpod
You are 100% right!
On PC I just used the drop items feature (Hold X) I think it's hold Up or Down on the DPad on PS5. But I wonder if there's any even faster way 🤔
Im sorry but that orbital max range tip is so generic, safe ranges are: 380 before ship upgrade 80m after upgrade 60m, 120 before upgrade 60m after 40m.
Man, the laser’s heat being affected depending on the climate is sick. This video made the game so much cooler imo
This game has so many cool things and I'm excited to see what more the devs have cooking
@ I know right? I was just thinking about how much potential this game has. Can’t wait
Niche tip: It's better to empty the Senator than reload early because he uses a speed reloaded instead of reloading each cylinder
Yes! Senator is one of the weapons where the reload trick does not apply. Definitel;y one of my favorite sidearms too
I have over 1400 hours in the game and there much in here I had no idea about lol. Great video dude!
That's freaking awesome to hear dude! Glad ya found something useful in here 🫡
@@Marku5GG FOR LIBERTY DIVER! o7
But how do you swap shoulders on console
Double tap O while Aiming
On point 74: even the laser cannon can open it
Ty that's one I didn't know about
Awesome, I'm more prepared for my next dive ❤ 😊
I'm glad you liked it, hope you have a fun dive!
fun fact: if you wear marshmallow heavy armor and equip vitality booster, you can tank one scout strider rocket and survive
For 100, i rather melee to gain the same effect
Oh I didn't try that!
As a Recoilis main another way you can quick load is by quickly swapping to another weapon and back to the rocket
if you need to refire another rocket, it much faster if you just hit "c" to standup, no need to get the weapon swap animation before refiring if needed. I only ever use the primary weapon swap if I'm going to run to the next area or if there enemy infantry nearby still.
Good to know, ill give that a go!
Bro the best part of this game is that we can make another to lists of hints ❤
👍👍
personally, I prefer not rebinding the wasd for the strategems, as I can deploy them so fast, that I rarely need it while moving, in addition, I usually have a stun nade with me so I can stun before using my strategems.
It's definitely preference! Glad wasd works well for ya, spread that democracy! 🫡
Great video man! Keep uo the work!
Thanks man I appreciate that!
11:49 that's no longuer the case, slugger's demolition force was nerfed months ago
That's good to know thank you!
This is great bro ! Thank you so much great video !
Thank you very much Dr!
You don't need to keep swapping weapons to throw seaf shells.
Keep your Grenade out, pick and drop the shells and watch em fly
What?! Thank you I plan to try this tomorrow!
You make a good point and I'll definitely keep that in mind for the next video 👍
13:13 they also prevent stamina regeneration.
Ahh good catch, I didnt know that!
More ppl need to pay attention to tip 36 lol. Great vid! I've moved on from DMZ but would be totally down for more HD videos and/or streams as this is my go-to game till Delta Force gets controller compatability. I'm Level 80 and learned a lot of new things.
I honestly think many new players literally aren't aware friendly fire is in the game 😂
5:29 most logical advice that nobody heeds
Unfortunately so true
switching to fps mode doesnt reduce recoil
Ya know I think a better way I could've worded it was to say that FPS Mode helps provide the ability to better control the recoil, ty for the correction!
@@Marku5GG it is more convenient to shoot in fps mode with some weapons but i find the heavy mg to be easier to use with 3rd person
Saluting the terminal does increase the speed aswell
WHAT??? mind blown, thank you!
Vitality also stop bleeding from chest injuries
Soild info, I didnt know that!
For tip number 38 (the proning under teslas) does this work against illuminate tesla towers too? Or is this only for friendly towers?
I need to test that, but I think so. Though I'd still recommend just destroying to to be safe
is it true? 1st POV significatly reduces recoil? so it will be useful when using Reprimand?
I think a better wording would be that it significantly helps in controller recoil rather than reducing if being more technical. Give it a try!
Tip #36... I lol'd for real 😆
Haha 😂
69 : if you shoot a naturally spawned helbomb with the grenade pistol it will go off instantly.
Good tip ty my dude!
7:26 that's a good one I didn't know that
Glad it helped!
How many samples do you currently need to unlock every thing
Cause I was thinking of stocking to max number rather than buy 1 upgrade at a time
I have all the first upgrades
I havent looked into that but now you have me very curious!
each sample type has a max number storable
@mebrithiel this is truth! 👍
@@mebrithiel what’s the max? 150?
@@Poke-ladd 500 normal samples... cannae remember the others off the top of my head
How do you shoulder swap on controller?
Double tap O while aiming
Enemies will not detect you if you go prone after throwing a stratagem and before it hit the ground.
Good tip!
Fun fact smoke does not help at all against the voteless
Wait what?! I need to test this, I wonder why they chose to do that
How do I change the shoulder point of view on PC?
Side mouse button by default I believe.
Tip 36 "If you aim you gun at a teammate and press fire, they will die. You can avoid this by not aiming you gun at your teammate." 😂
Some divers seem unware of this lol
Need to get back into it
They've added a ton of new content, but apparently even more coming too
Have you played this game with ON1C?
I haven't but that would be really fun!
1:19 How ?
By rebinding the stratagems keys from (wasd) to the arrow keys, unless you don't have those on your keyboard
Like seeing ya make videos on other games. Tried Helldivers but I couldn't get into it. Only 3rd person shooters I like are Hitman and Ghost Recon.
Ya not every game is for everyone, nothing wrong with that. I really appreciate you showing support though my dude!!
Wait this game was hella thought through
@TheExitiumRoblox Yes! It's made me appreciate the game so dang much
I don’t understand this idea that eliminating based will increase patrols. They will decrease.
Its honestly quite complicated and complex how spawns and patrols all work in Helldivers 2. There's a long reddit post that breaks down how it all works.
So weird to make a list and not include the number 36 🤔
lmao
Met a bot the other day. Just kept repeating itself.
lmao
No.36 ❤
Hopefully more Helldivers receive this message 🫡
Why does no one talk about the 500 also being a strafing run? Way more predictable once i knew
I always thought it also came from side to side like the rest, that's my bad. Thanks for updating!
13:31 They patched the eruptor animation skip.
Oh did they? I tested a few times and seemed to be working as seen in clip but I could be wrong. Ty!
@@Marku5GG I just jumped into a mission, the animation still happens even when you swap your weapon. After swapping, the charging handle will move on its own without the Helldiver grabbing it, but it still happens.
@@Marku5GG There are a few of your tips that are no longer working dude pelase be careful
3. how ?
11. but thats ... boring
68. i don't know why are the did it , but now it almost newer oneshot anything , tank charger hulk or whatever their size, have almost 90% chance to stay alive and continuing fight without serious damage ;(
77. "except strafing" AND 500kg
92. ... well , as you just show us, its kind of 50/50 , hunters, zombies and some other enemies mostly dont care about gas effect
3. On PC it's side mouse button, on PS5 double tap O when Aiming.
68. Ya I hope they make it more consistent in the future.
93. Most of the bugs were confused but as you said it can be a 50/50. Gas needs a buff in my opinion
WETHER APLIES TO JETPACKSSS!?!?! WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?
Yessir!
ok... i have over 1000 hours... yes... in that game... HOW THE HECK do you switch shoulder ?? I've checked the keybinds and there is NOTHING about that...
EDIT: I think it's just for controllers... keyboard & mouse can't do it
#14 is so IMPORTANT but nobody EVER uses it...
#49 - THIS IS FALSE. Shriekers CAN attack you while prone and WILL attack when you run away as they fly faster then you can run. I can't count how many time i've died to both of these actions....
On PC it's a side mouse button, on PS5 you double tap O while Aiming, hope this helps!
