Great suggestions Andrea! I have 3 kids and I've thrifted nearly all their clothing. There are so many nice things at thrift stores and yard sales at a fraction of new prices. Especially for babies as they grow so quickly. I've bought new with tags baby clothes for $2-4 dollars. Also, it's sustainable and I can't afford to always buy ethically made clothes so it's more like recycling 😊. We love our library especially since kids grow through/out of books as well. I always find great clothes for my daughter in consignment or thrift stores! She's 12 but petite (size 10-12) and a tomboy, and I can find her things at thrift stores that are unique and aren't the typical little kid stuff. It's really the best place to buy jeans!
Tfs this awesome video. I think that what you said is true, people see things tick tock or TH-cam (like a TEMU HAUL), and they have to go out and buy it, but they don't really need it or use it for a while and then they never ever touch it again. I have a sister that is like this and now that she is moving, she is going through all of these item's and she is having to declutter a lot of things. She has way to much makeup and skincare and clothes and shoes. She is moving into a apartment and now she is trying to figure out what she is going to do. When I was telling her to stop with all of the buying stuff. I really enjoy watching your videos, because you are honest about how you feel and you give us some really good advice about buying things. Tfs and I hope that you have a spectacular week. Laura 🎉
I don’t buy expensive SPF anymore either. I have actually gone the complete opposite and buy the Aldi 50+ sunscreen. It’s fine under makeup and it costs about $2.80.
I absolutely get you not wanting beauty samples with purchase! You already try so many products for your work. You really don't need to add to that. 🙂For me, getting samples is a must, especially if they have fragrance samples! I am very sensitive when it comes to smells of any kind (headaches and nausea) but I do love fragrances. I don't want to commit to a fragrance without testing it out thoroughly so that I don't accidentally buy a mild floral scent which turns into something totally different after a few hours on my body! 😅So, samples help and I actually want them.
Yes! I do agree with you on the fragrance samples! I never like to purchase a fragrance without testing it a few times. I do Scentbird every few months but even that can be a lot of fragrance. If it doesn’t end up being my favorite so samples can definitely come in handy. 💗
As you speak; I am listening to you and junk journaling, I am a recent addict of junk journaling! Mercy sakes, this is going to be my retirement hobby. I love notebooks LOL SUCH a junky for them. I didn't even know what junk journaling was 6 months ago, happened across a video, I watched with amazement and now I am hooked. Nothing you do with it has to make sense; I think that was the clincher for me. You my dear are as beautiful as ever, blessings for you and the fam!
Tinted eyebrow gels are brilliant. Many times I've been in a mad rush and a quick swipe with a tinted eyebrow gel and I'm set to go. I would like them to have those hair like fibres too 😉! I agree about the makeup bags and free samples. In fact, I have a makeup bag full of one use blister packs, tiny sachets etc 😂😂. I do own one "makeup bag" that's brilliant - it has a drawstring fastening and, once opened, it almost lays completely open!! I just throw my bits into it, pull the drawstring and WHOOSH, it literally closes and gathers up everything. I also use it to "tranfer" any small items from one room into another - it's amazing. Much love 💖🌟💖🌟💖
Couldn’t agree more! I discovered Libby through my local library system this past year and listen to every single audio book for free now! Even the kindle downloads are free, it’s incredible and I’ve made it my mission to spread the word!
@@simone_j yes! I also use Libby through my library for audio books or to download them to my kindle and it is one of the best things I've ever found 😂
I loved FabFitFun and originally subscribed because of your recommendation, but unfortunately I had to cancel my membership. The boxes were SO cute and I really enjoyed the products, but I came to the realization that the majority of stuff I received I would never actually seek out on my own. Don’t get me wrong, I love cute throws and patterned mixing bowls, but didn’t actually have a need for them. Trying to strike a better balance between the amount of stuff we bring into the house (which is especially tough with a 3 yr old) and the stuff we truly need in the house. ❤
I did the same thing with saving Ulta Points for the Dyson. I ended up not getting it. I got the shark hair dryer when Costco had a sale on it and really love it. No regrets. Only downside is it is kind of heavy so probably not great for a hairdresser, but works great for me. Fast drying and does a great job for when you want to straighten or going with the curly look.
I love journaling & drawing with markers in a blank fancy notebook. Never giving that up. Love my art & architectural books too. But yes those mugs GOTTA GO.
Love this type of video! I no longer buy expensive hair products. I have naturally wavy/curly hair and have found excellent affordable products at the drugstore. Same for body products like moisturizers and such. I also stopped getting manicures and pedicures at the salon, and have been doing my own at home. I stopped coloring my hair and even getting it cut professionally. TH-cam has so many great tutorials that I started watching during Covid, and now I cut my own hair as well. I still occasionally get sucked in by new makeup releases, but I’m really making an effort to use what I have and donate what I don’t need.
I buy 1 phone case. An Otter Box. They are great. Safe and well made. I don't do single shadows or powder blushes or highlighters. I do get samples. I have vary sensitive skin. I like to try before I buy if I can. ❌️⭕️
I loved this video, and I applaud your practical nature. I too received an ember mug as a gift and then purchased one for my husband as well so we only have a couple of mugs in our cabinets, and while I sometimes miss the beautiful floral patterns… I like having hot coffee more lol.. My daughters are tweens now… Although they still like to be read to. A great resource if you find a book that your son really loves and wants to read often, is eBay a lot of children’s books are very expensive that way.
I agree with everything you said. Especially the sunscreen I love the Elf. The samples got me giggling I stopped too unless a new skincare I may really be interested in but those foundation ones you can’t even cover your chin let alone whole face. You asked about a good makeup bag and the last one I purchased is my forever one. It was two years ago and it’s the Allie Glines larger makeup bag with three separate compartments you can remove and a great pocket. I put my makeup and skincare in one bag. Love it. ❤❤
After my 1st child, I realized that only to buy books the child really loves. Each kid is so different. I have 4 kids and each one is so different. In other words, each kid is a learning curve ❤
I have used the full set of Allie Glines'makeup cases since she released them. Two of the smaller sized cases and then the large case, so depending on how long I'm gone, I'll use whatever case will hold my makeup. Honestly, I dont ever see myself having to buy another makeup bag again. When I got those, I gave away about a dozen Ipsy bags and some others I had collected.
I feel very fortunate to have a nice library only a mile or two from home, the library was the one place that I was really bummed about being closed during the pandemic lockdown. Books are my ultimate escape and I seem to always have my nose in one these days.
A way that I’ve found to save on sunscreens is to get one that functions as moisturizer as well. I loved all of the loose products from bareMinerals. The best part of them was that they never expired. I had a blush and a few eyeshadows from the days when the company was Bare Escentuals, and they were good decades later. I was very disappointed when they discontinued them, but I got a bunch of them at deep discounts as a result. I like to donate samples, too. When offered, I pick ones that I think would be good for women’s or homeless shelters. Chargers are a pet peeve for me, too. The cables break on me. I’ve learned how to use them to keep them from breaking, but it took a lot of experimentation. Color changing makeup has never worked for me. I have never liked how they look on me. I gave up on them decades ago.
I somewhat agree about the samples. I eventually started looking more carefully at the samples and realized that I should only get what I really wanted from the Sephora samples. I have been able to get some cool products like Tasha, LYS foundation samples, and the Gloe Recipe. However, I was interested in those products. Not if I'm not interested, I don't get the samples. I have cut back with makeup purchasing this year. Also, with the sunblock, I started getting it from TJ Max in the summer when they have a lot of it because it's cheaper. Thanks for the video!
You looked so beautiful ❤ thank you for talking about going to the library! They are an underutilized institution! 🥰🥰 I have stopped buying every eye shadow palette that comes out! I have to confess, I have a few that I don’t really like, but I was like “why not?” Now I shop my stash and I have gone on no buys, these pauses make me ask myself if I really want the palette, it will be there after the no buy, and if it’s limited edition, will I really use it, or am I anxious because I may miss out? It’s been really helpful. I loved this video ❤❤
Oh man coffee mugs are my weakness but I had to scale back because I was running out in my cabinet. I would buy my family mugs as Christmas gifts for years but now that my kids are older I stopped getting them. I did buy a Coffee mug hanger for my office that holds 6 of my fav mugs on display. And i use some mugs for makeup brushes or a misc mug for my desk. I also stopped buying cream lipsticks especially because I had that collectors mentality to get all the shades. But then some lipsticks went bad. So I stopped buying them. This was such a fun video! Hope you are having a great evening with your family. 😊❤️💄
Lipstick and lip gloss. I just find myself loving lip balm. It isn't too sticky like a lip gloss, nor too drying or gunky like a lipstick, and it doesn't get on your teeth like lip gloss or lipstick either. There are so many types from totally sheer to almost as pigmented as lipstick, and they are so easy to apply. Sure sometimes I still wear lipstick if I want full coverage, or lipsgloss if I want something super shiny, but I just don't gravitate towards them and when I buy a new one it just ends up sitting there. My lip balms, on the other hand, get daily love. I often have to stop myself when the lipstick or lip gloss just looks so nice and pretty, but I have to remind myself that they are not going to get much use.
I love a fun phone case, but it’s such a waste. I have started buying fun stickers, leaving the backing on the sticker, and putting them inside a clear case. Now I can change whenever I want.
Have you looked into Dolly Parton's Imagination Library? I signed my boys (21 months and 3yrs old) up for it. They get a new book every month sent to them until they turn 5... For free. My bestie signed me up when I was pregnant because I had no idea that existed. Plus it's an age appropriate book (like board books for babies). My boys love the books we get. I have many stored away that I'll rotate in every so often because they have a ton of books. Anyway, it's a great program and totally free.
I no longer buy eyeshadow palettes because I only wear colourpop single shadow in ritz on my lids for any occasion. Plus I don’t know how to do eyeshadow techniques because I always end up looking like a raccoon mess. I don’t get the swiping motion and blending harsh eyeshadow lines.
I mostly drive when I travel, and I love using those Samsonite "antique" overnight cases (they were regular luggage when I was a kid, I don't wanna admit how old they are tho lol). These keep things nice and safe (most have some pouches to keep certain things upright, as well as pockets for tiny stuff), and I can set it up on the toilet seat in the hotel bathroom or on my sleeping bag if camping (but who does hygiene when camping lol?), and it's much easier to use than soft bags.
I was with you on the hair tools until my BFF showed me how to use the 3 barrel curling iron. I am heat took impaired but this is finally something I can use and not mess up. 😂
I’m the same way with coffee mugs, it’s just my mom and I. we had way too many and finally ended up decluttering 90% of them. With phone cases I have a lot but I get them from 5 below or Shein.
@@AndreaMatillano they’re great cuz you can hang them up as decoration in your house or they can be gifts and you can send them to people, I haven’t met anyone who doesn’t love receiving handwritten postcards!
We only buy one mug each time we go on a special vacation. It’s a way to remember our time there. Otherwise, we got rid of most other mugs that don’t have a memory attached.
I love clothes but I have a rule to avoid black t-shirts! I have a good amount already, esp for a 36 year-old haha. I try to "curate" them as more special (eg. vintage pieces or beloved band tees) the rule has prevented a LOT of purchases! also I stopped buying ziploc baggies and similar things years ago, just naturally, and never really missed 'em!
Okay I need to implement this rule in my life! I have a lot of black t shirts too so I love your idea of trying to choose a more special option. Thank you for sharing!
There is a lot of things I no longer buy, namely anime and video game merch, I would go to Japan every year and come home with an extra suitcase of this stuff lol. Tacky souvenirs from holidays is another. I also stopped buying paperback books, and from beauty, primers, high end brow products because of Nyx. I also no longer buy so much hair stuff, as I used to have long bleached blonde hair, which is now a short brown bob so the amount of hair products and treatment products is less tan half of what I used to have before.
I collect coffee mugs and sadly must say that I have to stop. I've been using the same one every day now. Unpopular opinion, but I've also stopped buying primer because a good SPF works way better!
I recently bought the shark system. I was really nervous about it because of the price. I bought it during the Sephora sale. And I honestly really like it. It dries my hair super fast which would usually take hours and gives my hair a really nice shine.
Oh that's good to know! If I do end up splurging on a hair tool like that I think I will go with the Shark over the Dyson. It's really good to know that you've had a great experience!
The products that change with your pH, I saw a video about those and they always make that shade of pink, because it’s the only shade that product can achieve. They will never look better than that tacky shade of pink. Good call
I never liked loose check and eye products because of the mess factor. I can't remember the last time I owned one. I make enough of a mess with loose face powder, which is a necessity for my combo-oily face. I canceled my Ipsy subscription last year. I was collecting more than I needed no matter how I tried to personalize my preferences. Besides, at this point, I know what I like and what works for me.
I stopped buying lip gloss. I don't like the wet feeling, even if it looks good. It only looks good for a few minutes, and I have to reapply after I drink water.
I rarely buy books since I became a working librarian. I will still get them occassionally, but it's so hard when I know I can borrow what I want for free. I also don't buy bath bombs or bath items in general for myself anymore. I get them for my kids, but I ALWAYS prefer a shower.
tbh i have a large plastic oblong container i fill it every night with what i'm going to wear the following day all my make is stored pretty much like yours is the last make up and toiletry bags i bought was 12yrs ago they were leather and came in a set i very rairly go away so it's enoght but i just have a small personal collection of make thanke fir going through bites in this video stright to the point xx
I use makeup bags to organize my purse. One has hair needs, brush, hair tie... Another has chapstick, lotion, Tylenol... One has snacks. Makes changing bags easier
I’m a speech therapist and I really like the love every toys. People that have that have really nice age-appropriate toys for their child. I get that it is over-priced though. It’s probably better if you have a group of family/friends that you can give hand-me-downs to. They’re very durable timeless toys.
Yes! I saved a bunch of them just in case we have more children because the quality really is there too. I wish they made them available for purchase outside of the subscription too!
I have an ember mug but I still have the mug addiction lol Specially if they are little mermaid related. I stopped all makeup subscription n put myself on a no buy makeup for the remainder of the year. It’s harder than I thought… but the way my bank account it’s set up I had too lol
I understand! 😂 I didn’t think I had a mug addiction but apparently I did with the amount of mugs I had in my cabinet! I’ve been trying to cut back on makeup this year too. I’ve been working on rotating through everything in an attempt to make things a little more exciting. 😅

It's funny, the only other person than me i know have to restrain themselves from buying office supplies is my mother. I had to talk myself out of buying so much beautiful colourful cheap stuff that ultimately i would never use. As i went back to studying, it was a good excuse to buy all the pens and highlighters lol. But now i'm more reasonnable. I'm not saying i never buy useless stuff, but i'm getting better at it in general. I noticed that spending became a coping mechanism during the pandemy and i have to fight it way harder now.

Oh my gosh that's good to know! Thank you for sharing!
Love this look! The eyeshadow and the lips are going so well together
This makeup look is so gorgeous!
Love your entire look today, especially the eyeshadow!❤
That’s so nice of you! Thank you!
You and emily noel are so enjoyable to watch and give authentic energy ❤😊
That means so much to me! I love Emily so thank you for your kind comment!
Libraries are such an underutilized resource! Also, lots of libraries offer audiobooks online.
Couldn’t agree more! I discovered Libby through my local library system this past year and listen to every single audio book for free now! Even the kindle downloads are free, it’s incredible and I’ve made it my mission to spread the word!
I didn't realize this! I'm going to have to check with mine to see what kind of audiobooks they offer. Thank you for sharing!
This is so helpful! Thank you for sharing!
I just want to say that the quality of your videos is amazing! You can tell how much work you put in for each one ❤
That means so much! Thank you for your kind words!
Love this Andrea! You inspired me for a video…I’m over the clutter too!
It feels good to cut back! Also, I’ve been loving your Instagram reels so much! 🙌
Totally agree with you. Not many people have “coffee parties”.
A great resource if you find a book that your son really loves and wants to read often, is eBay a lot of children’s books are very expensive that way.
there's something about your makeup today 😍 you look particularly beautiful... hugzzz 💜
Love it. ❤❤
I’d love to see a tutorial on your makeup look in this video!
I can definitely film one! Thanks for the suggestion!
After my 1st child, I realized that only to buy books the child really loves. Each kid is so different. I have 4 kids and each one is so different. In other words, each kid is a learning curve ❤
That’s really helpful to know! ❤️
I do journal every day. I still love them. Good list. Have a great week ❌️ ⭕️
Hi Andrea! Thank you for another well thoughtful video you really nailed it with this one❤God bless you always sweetie 🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
I like the sample skincare for travel because buying travel size can be spendy, and the samples tend to be less bulky than refillable containers.
That’s a good point!
I’m right there with you with the loose powder products 😆☺️
They look so pretty, but they end up everywhere! 😂💗
@@AndreaMatillano exactly 😆
I did cut back on mugs but will always have seasonal ones in rotation. I can't quit!😅
That is such a good idea that I never thought of! I love it!
I disagree on samples! I use them all the time when I travel w carryon and can’t or don’t want to bring too many liquids.
Is the Heimish brand cruelty free ? I need something less expensive as well .
Yes, Heimish is cruelty free 😊
Have you looked into Dolly Parton's Imagination Library? I signed my boys (21 months and 3yrs old) up for it. They get a new book every month sent to them until they turn 5... For free. My bestie signed me up when I was pregnant because I had no idea that existed. Plus it's an age appropriate book (like board books for babies). My boys love the books we get. I have many stored away that I'll rotate in every so often because they have a ton of books. Anyway, it's a great program and totally free.
Oh my gosh that’s amazing! Thank you for sharing this. 💗 I’m definitely going to check it out!
I have sparse brows and feel the same about clear ones❤
I’ve had my “crimper” for like 3 years now and I got it on Amazon for around $20. I got the recommendation from Taylor Wynn and it was a good one!
I was with you on the hair tools until my BFF showed me how to use the 3 barrel curling iron. I am heat took impaired but this is finally something I can use and not mess up. 😂
That's what I loved about doing Ipsy's glam bag to try out products that I could buy cause I know if they worked for me or what didn't
What’s the hair color that you use? It’s a beautiful color!
I’m the same way with coffee mugs, it’s just my mom and I. we had way too many and finally ended up decluttering 90% of them. With phone cases I have a lot but I get them from 5 below or Shein.
Okay bedtime just got postponed 😂
Haha thank you for taking the time to watch! You're the best!
Same!
What about library book sales? Check your area libraries for sale dates.
That's a great tip! I'm going to have to check in with mine.
I also don’t buy souvenirs when I travel anymore!! I prefer to stick to postcards, way easier to transport and also cheaper
I love the idea of postcards! I never thought of those!
Such a great topic to keep relevant 🙂
I appreciate you taking the time to watch!
Love the video!!! Great idea and concept!!!
Love these types of videos!
Thank you for taking the time to watch! 🥰
I am basic with hair tools. Flat iron, curling iron and a blow dryer. ❌️⭕️
As a curly girl, I don’t use any hair tools. My flatiron that I got 7 years ago was passed o to my oldest daughter.
tbh i have a large plastic oblong container i fill it every night with what i'm going to wear the following day all my make is stored pretty much like yours is the last make up and toiletry bags i bought was 12yrs ago they were leather and came in a set i very rairly go away so it's enoght but i just have a small personal collection of make thanke fir going through bites in this video stright to the point xx
Happy Tuesday Everyone
I hope you're having a great week!
I use makeup bags to organize my purse. One has hair needs, brush, hair tie... Another has chapstick, lotion, Tylenol... One has snacks. Makes changing bags easier
There are probably a ton of things I stopped buying but I can't think of them right now. Loved this video tho ❤
Thank you for taking the time to watch! I appreciate it so much! 🥰
Btw, there are handy online guides to suggest developmental toys at every stage :)
I love these videos !!
I got the subscription for my nephew and he loves the toys!
A great bed time video! ❤
Yay! Thank you so much for watching! 🥰
I need a new makeup bag because the handle came off after the last trip lol. It’s been so long since I bought one, idk where to start
Ahhh I know right?! I’ve heard from a lot of people that they love the Allie Glines ones!
@@AndreaMatillano I was thinking about trying hers out! I’ve heard good things
It is Tarte Juicy Lip. I am a pass on PH changing too.❌️⭕️
My baby is currently using the lovevery tissue box as a drum set, as we speak!
Oh my gosh, too cute! That one really stood the test of time for us! 😂💗
I am here for it. Watching and cooking ❌️⭕️
I have an ember mug but I still have the mug addiction lol
Specially if they are little mermaid related.
@@AndreaMatillano you have a channel so you have that excuse but I have one face that thinks it has a channel lol
Your doing a fantastic job, love all your videos.. new or old makeup we are here for it.
SPF wise I’m really picky. I only buy it if it’s passed Australias guidelines.
Kid’s consignment shops are the best way to go! Half the clothes are brand new bc someone’s kid grew faster and now can’t wear it !!! But fyi if u try to sell they low ball u and picky as crap about minor things so that’s a hassle but as a buyer it’s the best !
