Blud thinks discount tire makes money from recycling useless tires lmao. Bud, there are people out there that recycle, sell or both for a living. DT pays them to take away the tires and once that transaction is done. The “recycler” can do whatever he wants with the tires. If they wanna recycle he can or sell some decent looking tires for a profit they can. The other party (in which case DT) doesn’t get anything in return. If the recycler sold your tires for $30 a piece somewhere else. That’s his money, DT ain’t getting anything from that deal.
then tell them you want to keep the tires and sell them yourself. oh wait they are bulky and don't fit in your car? guess you'll have to hire someone to move them... oh wait...
You don't have to pay the tire disposal fee. You can always take them back home yourself. You could also take them to the same tire store and sell them yourself. You're paying them to "dispose" of your tires. That can mean selling them or recycling them.
Apparently you don’t understand business. Of course they are making money everywhere they can. They pay a company to take the tires. They are not profiting from them what so ever, except charging you double what they pay if not more. It’s called an upscale my friend. 🤦🏻♂️
I work for discount, youre paying a desposal what the disposal does it get those tires "recycled". 12 dollars bud, if want to dispose them, then you shouldve gone back and picked it up......
I’ve never heard of that. I know they charge you a percentage if you use a credit card. But that’s because the credit card companies charge them to use their services.
Tell them you want to keep the tires but tell them after they give you the final price. Its like tree removal service. They cut the tree down, sell the logs, chop branches to make mulch.
Most of the time it’s a state required disposal charge at least in my state due to stupid blue policies even though old tires are used in almost everything
From my experience our shop had to pay the California government when new tires are sold. So the “Disposal” fee is supposed to cover Californias stupid pollution excuses. At least that’s what my boss told me to make me feel better about charging people the fee even if they kept the tire haha😂
How they dispose of them isn't a scam lol! What did you think they were going to do with them? Lol responsibly dispose of them? Not when there's still a profit to be made my man;)
They do the same thing with used oil. They charge you a disposal fee then the truck that comes and sucks all the mixed used oil out of the takes pays 35cents a gallon for it (that was price in 2002 who knows what they pay now.

All of us do pay a fee to use the gas pumps. IT’s figured into the cost let gallon. It’s part of running a business.
