Any chance you could do a video on a transmission fluid change? I’m almost approaching the 60k mile mark the manual mentions where I’m going to have to service it. I appreciate the videos you’ve done, I just changed the engine and inverter coolant.
@@Bonanzaking hi there, I’ve been quite busy lately, but will try to make the transmission fluid replacement video in the next few months if I get a chance. Thanks!
It's done the same way as most other hybrid Toyota models. Except you have to use TOYOTA GENUINE e-Transaxle Fluid TE instead of WS fluid. Here is my RX450h rear differential fluid replacement video, same idea, just different fluid. th-cam.com/video/y9Hd14D6KKs/w-d-xo.html
May I ask why factory advice is to change the engine coolant more frequently after draining the original factory one for the first time? Even if you replace it with the factory recommended original Toyota coolant. Thank you!
It is of the utmost importance that the drain valve is opened BEFORE the radiator cap (as the repair manual procedure specifies). That way, the coolant in the reservoir is siphoned out and drained with the rest. Otherwise the old coolant in the reservoir will remain there and get circulated back into the system since there is no port/hose at the bottom of the reservoir.
Thank you for the comment. The repair manual says: (d) Loosen the radiator drain cock plug. (e) Remove the radiator cap sub-assembly. Then drain the engine coolant. They don't tell you to wait until coolant siphons out or anything like that. If that was something they wanted, they would have said "Wait 5 minutes, then open the radiator cap" or similar. Also, since this engine does not have a block drain, at least half of the old coolant stays in the engine after you drain the radiator. So, while it may help drain a few hundred milliliters more, it is definitely not "of the utmost importance".
Why aren't u changing inverter coolant @ same time? Did u drain the reservoir? Just curious. I own a gen 4 Prius & I REMOVED my pet cock to get all the coolant out. 👍🇺🇸
@@riceburner4747 hi, the procedure shown in this video exactly follows the factory repair manual on coolant replacement. I also have a video of inverter coolant replacement on this model th-cam.com/video/xBUPJsYwsTc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=MHjLM883E3UhQUPo
@Viktor_G_Automotive okay thanks. I feel 100,000 wait for 1st coolant change is insane. I only have 23,000 miles on mine, but it's 5yrs on my coolant so I changed both. I feel too many temp changes on a start/stop engine & I live in northern PA. Not as cold as Canada, but extreme temps. 👍🇺🇸

wow...look at that new Prius shape...awesome!
It’s pretty sexy for sure!
Thank you for the very informative video! 👌
For sure!
Very helpful! one more question. if you own an AWD Prius with the electric rear axle, how would you replace the fluid?

👍 can you share coolant change on 8AR FTS ? NX200T or RX200T ? Thank you
I will if I ever get my hands on one of those models. Thanks!
Hi amazing video! Can you show how to do a coolant change on a 2020 nx300 which has the 8ar engine?
I will if I ever get a chance in the future, thanks!

I personally don’t know for sure, it’s just what they recommend, presumably based on their engineering research and analysis.
Hey Victor , are the procedures the same with 21 sienna hybrid? Thanks 🙏
Similar, not exactly the same. I’ll be making a Sienna coolant video this summer.
