Aston is its own worst enemy. Amazing designs. Cool looks. Association with James Bond. But virtually every problem Aston has are things they've had generations to fix and they're still here! Their quality control issues are maddening. Buying an Aston Martin always has to be a passion buy because they've given us no logical reason to get one.

I drove the old one, 4.7 and fell in love instantly. My ‘one day I need a 911’ idea was pulled in to question... do you? Are you sure you wouldn’t be happier with that V8. Those ones will be a bit too old by the time I can get a car without room for three kids in the back, so I’m pleased the newer ones are absolutely banging too. Odd how for the first time in my life I’m considering the drop top over the coupe. The noise....!!!!!!
There's no denying it. Aston know how to make a car sound good don't they? That 'crack' on the upshift is spectacular and it sounds like it's only doing it above a certain rev level. That's a good thing as the F-Type as a reference was a bit much after a while. Style wise.. i love it. That duck tail spoiler seems more pronounced on the roadster and it lools fab!
I like the look of the roadster, but I'd get the coupe for the simple reason is that it's more usable. The roadster loses to much luggage room and I'd like to be able to take the Vantage on a week long road trip with my wife.

Lovely looking Aston, it would look fantastic in the dark metallic red they do. I might be alone in this opinion but I’m kinda tired of the manufactured bangs from the exhaust. I personally don’t want it cracking and banging after every downshift.
It’s still on going unfortunately, on looks alone, I think we’d all rather have a dbs than a continental for example, but out dated infotainment systems and extortionate base prices are restricting sales

@Janusha Ford GT , older Ford GT , Ford GT40 , Dodge Viper . Don't forget that Ford makes Range Rovers , original Range Rovers were just reworked Jeeps . Jaguars may as well be Mustangs . And back when Jaguar built race cars they were owned by Ford . But if you think cars that cost 200,000 dollars and sell for 30,000 10 years later are so great . Than buy an Aston Martin , but make sure you carry a fire extinguisher . Show me any English car that has 400,000 miles on the original engine and transmission . Porsche is the only "exotic" European car company that builds anything close to reliable cars .

And the last year Viper beat pretty much every car out there around the track . Hi Sam...my is Kandarp and I just love all your videos...specially Ftype ones.. I have a 3 litre P380 currently...and looking to get either 5 litre Ftype ( pre 2020 - love the shape and sound of these cars) or new Vantage... What should I get..
I think the car looks amazing on the road in the flesh.... I know they wanted to change the direction of the styling but I really wish they had done a better side strake, that one the way the press is on the door makes it look like either the bonnet or the door isn't fitted correctly. Even if it was similar to the DB11's side strake that would do it, that looks like a good modern version of the original side strake... I also wish they had found a way to fold down the info screen. My old school vantage has made me fall in love with convertibles. The AM made me get it, the whole convertible thing. I also think, like you say, that the roof down makes you forget about lap times and weight reduction and all that, you're just a gentleman hooligan that people wave too haha. I heard they weren't doing a manual in the roadster, I hope they do. I would love to drive the new Vantage roadster manual and compare it to mine back to back haha. Get to a point in life to keep both... must work harder! edit - I also forgot to mention, although it takes longer to put down and can only be done stopped or very slowly, I do prefer the look of the old vantage roof when it's down by miles. The turrets give it a semi spider look and that's when people tend to really notice the car. The roof on the new AM is very reminiscent of the F Type's & I think they could have done better to make the roll over bars prettier.
Ref the noise - US Spec is subject to different regulations. This is what most of the AMG's sound like there too. Remove Before Race did an interesting comparison while in dubai of the non EU spec AMG's.
Good review. I agree with your comments regarding the looks of the car and the quality of the finish. I want to like all things Aston and they have the fundamentals in place, but they need to improve to compete in the marketplace.
Pitty you didn’t get that STUNNING silver press car the Henry Cathpole got. Good god that looks phenomenal. Also , do you think because this is a US spec car it doesn’t come with the OPFs that we normally get.

Hmm. Definitely would like it better if it were more of a canary yellow. But, I'm not going to really judge an entire car by a single color option. So far, I'm digging what I'm seeing of it.
I was in the market to add to my garage and really liked the look of the Vantage. So off and on my way to do some research. Besides Sam, I also watched The Smoking Tires video on the Vantage. Both are pointing out panel gaps as well as electronic issues. Smoking tire did two separate reviews and both he had some quirky issues and still panel gaps. Still determined, I talked with a friend of mine in the exotic business. He also has had clients who bought Aston Martins who had mechanical issues, one so bad they had to lemon it out. The final straw, I talked with some in the service department at a dealer; yes someone who works on Astons. In short, didnt have to much positive to say. Very sad Aston is putting out cars like this for the dollar they are asking. Such good looking and sounding cars, big disappointment. Upon further research Aston has claimed bankruptcy 7 times and as of recent Palmer the CEO has stepped down. Stock has plummeted by 94%...YIKES. Thought I would share for anyone who is considering a purchase. Unfortunately I'm looking elsewhere, too me big a big risk purchasing Aston.
Between my son and I we have had 5 Astons (I currently have a DB11). They have all been trouble free and well made and finished. I assume this car is pre-production and not what you would expect of a production Aston.

It’s also crazy how they drop like a rock with depreciation. So you would recommend diving in on a 2019 Vantage without hesitation?

The excessive depreciation seen recently was the result of making too many cars for stock. Allegedly they are now making cars for orders, not for stock. I cannot say what this means for values or quality of 2019 cars.

New shape is growing on me, still can’t get passed the beady headlights. My V8 roaster looks better, the split roll cage things behind drivers seat make the difference, the rear flows into cabin, rather than cut straight across at the back: more sporty looking. Not sure the 4.0 turbo, improved tech and 1 second different from 0-60 justifies paying 2-3 times the cost of the one I have.

I keep looking as these and think, re imagined Mazda MX5. Are Aston adopting main stream design language or is everyone else chasing them? Same with the new Corvette and Ferrari SF90, obviously different but neither obviously represent their traditional brand and to me look like they came from the same manufacturer. Hypothetically, would anyone question the difference in design language in a scenario where the SF90 (design) was marketed as the range topping Corvette - know what I mean!!
Sam, I respectfully submit that this car’s exhaust and engine noise, wonderful as it is, is surpassed by any American muscle car, including mine, the Dodge Challenger Scat Pack. 6.4 Liter pushrod NA V8.

The optional different front grill makes a huge difference to the looks. Looks so much better.
I own a 2015 Vantage V12S Roadster and there is NOTHING that sounds as good as my little OUTRAGEOUS BEAST😉 No "boob job" sound effects needed👍

I wasn’t really a fan of this car until I drove a coupe version on track at Knockhill, completely changed my mind.
I prefer the look of the Coupe.
But the Roadster probably gives a more fun experience.

Ftype would be wiser choice at this level. Get a very nice one for 70k or less.

I like the new Vantage, more so the coupe (generally not a fan of convertibles). They look soo good all black, nardo grey and neon yellow imo 👌

I prefer the previous gen. GT8, but this sounds also great for a turbo! I would spec a manual coupé in China Grey.
As this is a North American car, will the European version sound the same because of stricter emissions and the silly 74db noise limit regulations?

Sam, I respectfully submit that this car’s exhaust and engine noise, wonderful as it is, is surpassed by any American muscle car, including mine, the Dodge Challenger Scat Pack. 6.4 Liter pushrod NA V8.
