Sam i like the fact that you do your own thing and for example didn't participate in the Gumball3000 . Sure it´s a great way to do some networking and to see some great cars but it´s also quite a hassle and tiring. Bali for sure a better choice and to spend some quality time. I think there are better events or perhaps the whole gumball "thing" needs a change after 20 years already.
Not a manual one you don't, very safe investment! McLarens are generally shite as users, every owner has a complaint or something go wrong from brand new. It's just no one talks about it. Also their customer care is apparently horrendous! I know of three people that have bought 720s and every single one of them has at least one issue/fault with it.
By the way Sam... I have to commend you! Although you and a lot of people probably won't care, kudos for the honesty of your videos where being able to afford cars, or not, is concerned. In today's TH-cam automotive climate, there is nothing misleading about your videos or content. As a serious fan of this space, I certainly appreciate it.
As you know I was on the launch for this (same one as JWW) and feel it would be one of the best cars available at £90k, but at £150k it quite hard to swallow. That said your £45k Golf and I just got out of an £85k M3... maybe it's not bad value
Tyre Reviews I think the combination of the new price and depreciation is going to put off a lot of people. And the pound is worth a fair bit less since the Brexit vote so everything is getting more expensive.
Aww you guys get it so lucky, a velar is like 90k here in Ireland☹️ obviously I know there’s a difference between the value of The euro and the pound, but still. Sure anyways I got a 182 6 GT for half the price of one over here by importing it so I’m happy!
Team PantsFire I think a last gen V12 Vantage is a wonderful car with a manual gearbox. A friend of mine has a drop top one and it’s absolutely brilliant.

I love the paint sample colors at 0:08. I also love this shade of Veridian Green, and the bright green BMW that went by at 7:24. The screen shot at 9:24 shows how absolutely gorgeous this car is. Thanks.
Josh Charlie even if he finances it, at the end of the day, he’s paying 150,000 pounds for the car whether it’s up front or in monthly payments, and he’s paying interest with finance. So he’ll end up paying 160 ish thousand pounds for a car that’s worth 105-110 after he’s done with it
Um, financing (or leasing for that matter) doesn't avoid the depreciation. However you do it, the car will be worth a shedload less than when you start and you'll be paying for that drop either in cash or via a lower residual and thus higher monthly payments
This is a brilliant review. I love the fact that it shows you driving, & talking to camera. It helps that the interior spec is really striking. The drone shots are also superbly done. One of the best - keep up the good work!!

I completely agree with all your small criticisms of the interior (screen, looks, exhaust sound, mercedes bits etc)! I havn't seen or heard anyone criticize that yet on other reviews. They tend to just love it because "Aston Martin". I hoped that I would get used to it, but.. guess it just isn't to my taste. The older generation of Astons er still the ones to go for if you ask me!
I have the v12 s and looked at replacing with this new vantage, but I cannot justify the price tag once specced, I too will be looking at pre-used prices next summer. Credit to AM, its keeping me interested, Porsche and Audi are not tempting me with the current 911 & R8.
He aint getting the 600lt or any other McLaren anytime soon. He feels that the cars lack soul and are a financial/depriciation nightmare since they are introducing new models like Samsung does with Phones... to many.

Bought a Vanquish over a 911 for the simple reason it's a great all round occasion. The 911 was the better drive but left me cold. The Aston just makes you smile!
The colour is amazing! I wasnt so keen on the new design at first, especially the front (i love the back though). But in this colour it looks really cool!
Wait a minute... but I LIKE THE BUTTONS. So I don't have to look into a screen to choose something while I need to concentrate on the road. Moving right along.... I would know which buttons to push in an instant's glance. Yah... so bring on the nice buttons and toggle switches...with clear functions showing.
I got an F TYPE RWD 5.0 SC. Get the Lister Thunder upgrade so it has 666 HP with the weight savings or go cheaper after market and you can get 650 hp easy.
I agree with you about the screen, it’s terrible. What were they thinking?! It’s so distracting, I like screens that you can hide away when you want to focus on driving, like the old db9. For an Aston there’s also too much Germanic looking black plastic and not enough expensive looking wood/aluminium. I just remember seeing the db9 interior for the first time when that came out, it was leagues ahead of everything else. This generation of Aston’s though, they feel a bit ‘cheap’ when compared to the competition. Yes I’m looking at you Bentley GT.
When I first heard you pull out of the dealership at 2:15 with OBNOXIOUS music blaring over the engine sounds, I gave you a break (why play music over a clip of exhaust sounds???). IT'S AN ASTON MARTIN and everyone wants to hear the exhaust, and so I figured you were probably a video professional and the music cloak was possibly just a tease and you'd [hopefully] dive into the exhaust note later in the vid... but every time you had a clip of the exhaust from outside the car, for some ridiculous reason YOU KEPT PLAYING THAT HORRENDOUS MUSIC! WTF? I get it that the AMG doesn't sound as good as the 1st gen (circa 2007) Vantage's naturally aspirated V8 (best exhaust of any car I've ever driven), but you have to know that people like and want to hear the exhaust tones in your videos. Even though previous gen Aston Martins' exhaust have been the best ever, AMG engines (in this car) still have really good exhaust so why would you cloak that behind music? Hmmm, perhaps for the same reason you never bought the car: because the exhaust is just not that good compared to the competition (F-type, 911 GT3, AMG GT, etc.).. Amirite? Well, on second thought: I believe that the reason you did NOT buy the car is its ugly, bland hood/bonnet! Did Aston Martin run out of money and just order a few thousand hoods from the Subaru BRZ parts department??? It's a real shame because there's such a special engine under there and they cover it in an enormous bland piece of rounded sheet metal. Perhaps Aston Martin purposely half-assed the hood/bonnet of this because they know they're setting the bar low to be able to then gouge their customers on any future new/refresh editions and be able to charge more $ by finally introducing a decent looking (more exciting) hood. Perhaps any future S or V12 versions will get a bulged hood with ducts, vents, or some hood scoops to break up the horrendous blandness of this car's hood.
I actually don't mind having allot of buttons. They're easier to operate while driving because you don't have to look at a screen and read a menu just to put the radio on.
It sounds quite similar to the c63s with a touch of Aston but the interior shares quite a lot from the Mercedes parts bin. Hopefully with Mercedes as its new partner, it will be more reliable but like others have said Aston tend to hit depreciation quite a bit. So you're not missing much IMO.
If I was you and in any position to buy one, I wouldn't daily it because of depreciation and I'd wait till next year when the manual transmission option comes out
Still can’t get my head around the front styling it’s the edge trim around the gril it’s just to sticky outy plus the inside is to merc’ish but the back of the car yes love that along with the noise
If you wanted an Aston you should of bought 3-4 years ago and got it out of your system. I think the old shape v12 was a better car back then than what this one is now, if that makes any sense!
Sam, I don't think you should regret your decision. I've seen one around Cardiff and it looked sublime, sure, and the reviews are encouraging but 150k (your spec not list price) for a Vantage is sacrilege! I'd wait for other variants of the Vantage to be released first. For 150k I'd be opting for a 911 Turbo S.
Aston Martin wouldn't do the steering feel etc wrong. And the reliability with the merc engine has risen a lot. BUT the interior for me, for the price that you pay, is quite disappointing, especially the infotainment system and the thing that you can't really see the dashboard... Maybe this is a good thing cause it's ugly. It costs a lot to be a daily driver, even if the price was around 100k pounds, the long term maintenance thing with Aston Martins is killing me to buy one for daily drive, till the new ones prove they're better. You got a Ferrari, don't buy an Aston :P if the one breaks down, the other one may brake down also xD
I'm a bit confused about the spec of the inside of the car. The whole dashboard and the seats are finished in alcantara but the steering wheel is leather. It seems a bit odd and backwards to me.

To me this one is one of the best looking cars around. Alongside the new LC500. And the color is stunning also.

To me, the exhausts pipes are too small, and the noise is not that great, and I really don't like the noise on gear changes :/
You can get the optional sports exhaust package which gives you larger quad pipes and improves the sound.

Aston Martin wouldn't do the steering feel etc wrong. And the reliability with the merc engine has risen a lot. BUT the interior for me, for the price that you pay, is quite disappointing, especially the infotainment system and the thing that you can't really see the dashboard... Maybe this is a good thing cause it's ugly. It costs a lot to be a daily driver, even if the price was around 100k pounds, the long term maintenance thing with Aston Martins is killing me to buy one for daily drive, till the new ones prove they're better. You got a Ferrari, don't buy an Aston :P if the one breaks down, the other one may brake down also xD

I'm a bit confused about the spec of the inside of the car. The whole dashboard and the seats are finished in alcantara but the steering wheel is leather. It seems a bit odd and backwards to me.
Why don’t you go into Rybrook, it’s literally up the road before you go to Aston Bristol and there’s some pretty cool things there
