I'm addicted to these videos. Does that count? 😁
Joking, but kind of true as I utilize the comments section as a virtual journal to reinforce positive thinking. By restating lessons I've learned over the last year.
But, more to your point. Yes, addiction doesn't need to be chemical based. Out brains are massive constant chemical reactions themselves, hence why corn, video games, our phones, gambiling, exercise, etc . . . Can be addictive in their own way.
But, what is addiction? Is it not being able to function without the habit? Is it losing hours of your day, days of the week, and weeks of the month?
Is it needing to sustain an "itch" even for a moment, just so you can feel normal, relaxed, fulfilled?
I'm not medical anything, so I don't know. Put simply, if you can't function without it, whatever it is, you're probably addicted.
But, like you said, you have to be the change. No amount of people begging, pleading, or intervening is going to alter that fact.
Granted if people are making extreme changes such as interventions or cutting you out of their life . . . Hopefully, that will give you pause to reflect and act as a catalyst for you to want to change.
But, you right, that itch is always there. Once an addict always an addict. But, it comes down to willpower and finding something more fulfilling in your life than the "need."
It's not easy. But, if you are truly battling addiction. I dare say your life will see vast improvement when you can finally break the cycle.

The only kind of smoke that gets into me and my friend's lungs is a bit of campfire smoke now and then.
This time of year, through early Fall, we are addicted to panning and sluicing gold from the rivers and creeks.
We get the gold fever. Cell phone reception is pretty much hit and miss around this neck of the woods. Me and
the guys take along our gold pans when we are out on hiking trips as well. Addicted to the great outdoors.

@@mxttthxw At $2,300 per ounce for gold right now, you got that right. We are able to sense where the

Addictions are created either from emotional pain or emotional lack.

Addictions can numb ourselves to the our own realities. We can only rationalise our behaviours away for so long before the underlying cause catches up with us. Our traumas are the gateway for addictions. I know it's easy to say and so hard to do, but try and exchange your harmful addictions for more productive activities. Stay strong, stay safe and know that you are not alone and that you are loved.

I have always wondered what difference between self esteem and self worth.
I think i know the difference, being addicted is a choice not a mistake.
Self esteem is what you think other people think of you, self worth is what you think of yourself.
