In regards to you picking The Substance, I have only one response: Triangle of Sadness. Most American voters found that film repulsive (hence why it didn't show up at PGA, AFI and SAG) yet it made it to Picture because the International crowd were fans. I think it's got a shot and it has the Cannes status which definitely helped Drive My Car. So, it's got a shot. I think tomorrow when Golden Globe nominations are announced, we might see others follow suit with this prediction (which is also where Triangle of Sadness made a splash).
About Sing Sing, SAG will happen after Oscar voting ends, so whatever happens there doesn’t matter much. But I agree that if it were before the voting, it would have a super positive impact for Sing Sing.
Rooting for Anora, its either gonna be a split vote winner for Anora/ Brutalist/ Sing Sing or the Academy is pulling a Parasite for genre films with The Substance.
I feel like this is a two horse race between The Brutalist, and Anora. Obviously the Academy would typically go for something like The Brutalist, but in a year where movies like The Substance and Anora can get such incredible reception… I’m optimistic we may get another Best Picture winner with a female lead. And hey, worst case scenario, maybe they accidentally give it to Wicked and Ariana and Cynthia can cry all over each other on stage.

I wish Substance could get in! And if there is no love for the horror movie genre at the Oscar level - if nothing else, I think the movie deserves a nomination in Best Cinematography!
I think it gets in for Original Screenplay & Make-Up & Hairstyling for sure. I think it's very close to Picture, Director & Demi Moore for Best Actress.
Anora is straight to my top 1 movie at all time. It hits me the whole film. I resonate with it throughout the film that no other film does. Although one thing is i thought ivan was going to run away with ani from the Mansion, the little twist brought me to breathless earlier than i expected. For the ending, I don't understand why people don't like it that much. From the fight in the mansion, i know igor and ani is gonna have something special. The character contract between ivan and Igor is so huge. The more character development makes me prefer Igor to be who ani ended up with, not ivan. The tranquility in the mansion at the end implies that igor is a good man, which brings to the ending scene where ani felt comfortable to break down in front of igor, not only about ivan but also her whole career she ruined. There was no other going back path for her but to start a completely new one
I will be more interested to know what if the guy she married to is not rich at all. The storyline can be so much more appealing to me if she was not a call girl, and he is not super rich.
@@Janesnow3633 I don’t think she would want to be a cashier or any of those jobs. At least being the top worker in the club did bring her a bit money and fame and her main goal is to find a rich man to change her life. You can see that anora wants to change her life desperately and she clearly hated her job. That’s why once she saw a chance on Ivan, she was never gonna let go. The sad thing is not how difficult her life is, it’s how she thought her dream / goal came true but it shattered immediately. This shows in the movie where she doubted Ivan more than one time because she actually wanted that dream not just an illusion.
@@Janesnow3633 this kind of movie is everywhere. And marrying to a rich man is what all sex workers’ dream. This kind of Cinderella story will only happen in reality is when a rich man fall in love with a stripper, all other situations are fake as hell. The plot goes like this is because she is a stripper so Ivan is out of her league in anyway. The emotion stacks up every time you see anora trying to fight really hard for the marriage but you know she is powerless. This movie also shows that women are objectified and some woman also objectified themselves. It happens when they think they are worthless in others’ eyes. You can see it when anora trying to fxxk igor in the car because she thinks that’s what she’s worth for.
@mihua-yf3rp Thanks for your honest answer. Now I finally got some ideas why people like the movie. I think the title of the film should change to " What do you think what would happen ". 😝😝😝
Wicked already beat Dune Part Two for the number 5 predicted Best Picture slot. It's climbing up fast. Awards voters truly do love a classic style Hollywood musical. It's also a loud bombastic musical with fantasy on. It's that resonate with voters that consider The Wizard of Oz a beloved and important film in Hollywood history. It's also safe to say that the election has been helping this film in the long run. It looks like voters want a film that's a crowd pleaser, has drama and emotion and political parallels to today. Wicked talks about some dark subject matter such as racial discrimination, abuse of the rights of animals, or types of US citizens that they've been talking about combating and standing up to fascism and racism and believing in what's right in the face of tyranny. Those themes alone are going to help its case and Cynthia Revo is climbing up in the best actress race. That's my prediction and it's definitely poised to get a screenplay nomination.
@Nishanth_mementomori They're going with it anyway, I guarantee it. It's just how the politics of The Academy work. I think they want to film fulfills and symbolizes that agenda. I'm a fan of the film myself, I think it fulfills that quota respectively and many fans will be happy. That might be the case here as it has already dominated more word circuits than Barbie could ever hope to. It's looking like another Oppenheimer at this rate.
I am pretty much about the same with your predictions for Best Picture. I am FULLY ready for some "shocks" and WTF's?" for nominations for Oscar..Globes...SAG...Critic's Choice !!!. just sayin'...lol
As much as I LOVED Wicked, I wholeheartedly agree that this an incomplete movie. Take Lord of the Rings Trilogy…. The first 2 get nominated but the academy doesn’t honor the film until part 3, recognizing trilogy as a whole. Part 2 is the heart and emotional core of this story. If Wicked part 2 is as fantastical as part 1, Wicked could win next year.
I still STAND by the fact that Dune II is this year’s best film. If it came out this weekend it would win it without question
I love Wicked, but I would be happy if Dune won. Unfortunately, oscar voters will probably miss on both. I wish Oscar voters liked popular films, but I must accept film watching is subjective.
Dune part 2 is the best film of the year objectively but recency bias is gonna be against it sadly
I think we should kill the narrative of Wicked winning Best Picture before it starts.

Nickel Boys is number 8 imo. I think it's above A Complete Unknown and A Real Pain. The people who love it will put it at no.1 or at least top 3. I don't see the other two getting many top 3 picks. Also the Directors branch will go crazy for it. I think it's more of a shoe in than the other two
Based off of everything ive heard (i havent seen either), I'm shocked there has been no talk for Juror No. 2 or Nosferatu
The animated movie that I would love to see at least nominated is Flow! There should be a nomination for best international film animated.
My BP 10 for the last 2 weeks has been the same as AFI. So im wondering if I had a crystal ball or if one of th movies will lose momentum.
Nosferatu and Anora are my favorites this year.
What about MARIA?
If it is good now, reward it now. This whole “let’s wait until the full vision is finished” is silly.
Her career? What career? Being a call girl? She just can't choose to do something else?
Honestly the best movie I saw this year was “The wild Robot,” sucks it won’t win because it’s animated.
I’m happy that you pick the Substance but where is the love for Hit Man
ChatGPT says it's Wicked 🎭✨. Buckle up, everyone! 🚀😄
P.S. A substance fan myself 🤓🍿
@AntsTheaterCorner2698 Absolutely! 🔥✨ Wicked checks so many boxes for voters: diversity 🌍, inclusivity 🤝, timeless themes ⏳, and nostalgia🪄🎶.
I mean it is a DEI led film what do you expect
@Nishanth_mementomori They're going with it anyway, I guarantee it. It's just how the politics of The Academy work. I think they want to film fulfills and symbolizes that agenda. I'm a fan of the film myself, I think it fulfills that quota respectively and many fans will be happy. That might be the case here as it has already dominated more word circuits than Barbie could ever hope to. It's looking like another Oppenheimer at this rate.
@@ekadet Did you ask it?
I AGREE 100% ABOUT CHALLENGERS BEING WORTHY!!!!
His Three Sisters was my favorite of the year
Strange Darling was the beat film of the year.
I am pretty much about the same with your predictions for Best Picture. I am FULLY ready for some "shocks" and WTF's?" for nominations for Oscar..Globes...SAG...Critic's Choice !!!. just sayin'...lol
Sing Sing is the Coda of this year
😬
Sing Sing is way WAY better than Coda
As much as I LOVED Wicked, I wholeheartedly agree that this an incomplete movie. Take Lord of the Rings Trilogy…. The first 2 get nominated but the academy doesn’t honor the film until part 3, recognizing trilogy as a whole. Part 2 is the heart and emotional core of this story. If Wicked part 2 is as fantastical as part 1, Wicked could win next year.
I like A& D loved them
Denis Vilenuve got screwed for The Fune Movies & the cast which was phenomenal
To me Wicked & Emilia Perez Pass for win
I wonder if the Cesar awards back Emilia Perez could that help is Oscar’s chances
I think anora will win
Ugh
@@bryanalstoncoxingwhy?
I really feel like this is a consensus year and everyone's 3rd/4th choice wins which will likely be Conclave, but if not [spoilers] Wicked
Men and woman often have different reactions to movies and what should win an academy award. Need more women deciding winners.
I don’t think Emilia Perez will make it to Best Picture. What about Blitz?
Why is no one talking about Irena’s Vow
It was so good!
