Redmayne’s win for TTOE was definitely not forgettable but I definitely agree that Gyllenhaal absence in Best Actor for Nightcrawler is a travesty of justice.
Eddie Redmayne for the “The Theory of Everything” is underrated as hell. People go on and on about how Michael Keaton should’ve won this year. But I don’t agree with that at all tbh. It baffles me how this win is seen as underserved.
Gyllenhaal was definitely snubbed. Clearly one of the top five performances of the entire decade, not just his year. His mistake was playing a character that was too easy to hate. The voters would prefer to reward hagiographies of royals and entertainers.
I agree with you completely about Taron Egerton in Rocketman - it was a complete joke that he wasn't even nominated for an Oscar for his incredible performance as Elton John, and unlike Rami Malek, who mimed the Queen songs, Taron sang every song in Rocketman live
Brian, you are so right saying the 2010s winners don’t really age well. Really hate the fact that originals like Chiwetel Edjiofor and Michael Keaton lost to Oscar-safe, awards-baity transformation boredom. Just see how Arrival’s Amy Adams not even nominated but she got in for playing Lynne Cheney🙄
I don’t think the 2010s were particularly strong but John Dujardin absolutely deserved to win his Oscar. It’s a great performance and the best in that category. Also how can you say he’s disappeared? He’s still very much a staple of French cinema. Movies exist away from Hollywood. Blimey.
I think it was mainly the two of them as the Oscar buzz that year, but McConaughey edged him out. I do think McConaughey deserved the win as he is great and spent the early 2010s digging himself out of the rom-com stamp he was labeled with at the time
Honestly even though I feel Leo gave the better performance in WOWS I agree with you. His performance is one of my favorite lead male acting roles in a TV series. However he had to go up against an arguably better performance with Cranston for Breaking Bad. Which do you prefer if you have seen Breaking Bad?
Jean Dujardin went back to France after his win because he's a french actor and he wanted to make french movies, even The Artist is technically a french movie, he hasn't "fallen off the map" he's still making movies just not in your country. to be honest i think it's kind of stupid to only assume you have a career in cinema if you're making movies in the US, i'm sorry man i like you but this doesn't sit right with me, there are plenty of amazing movies outside of the US that aren't being nominated to the oscars that you should probably pay a bit more attention to. if you want more movies JD has starred in i'd suggest you to watch those: -Deerskin -November -OSS 117 (made by the same director as The Artist) -Little White Lies take care man
You spouted a bunch of words. But didn't even mention by far Dujardin's best performance in legendary Hollywood director Roman Polanski's An Officer and a Spy.
I don’t agree with your point about how there’s no comparison to Redmayne’s and Gyllenhal’s performances. Jake was excellent and would’ve been my runner up had he’d been nominated. But I feel like you seriously undermine how much Redmayne had to do. Playing a well known figure, especially one with a severe disability is extremely hard while also trying to make it convincing. It’s the type of performance that could’ve been a career ender with one wrong move, and he nailed it.
Yep he seriously undermined it. That is a very HARD role to do, Eddie's remarkable transformation plus his facial expressions when he couldn't speak anymore were so good and sad. The guy even slightly dislocated his spine in his work so he absolutely was the right winner. Even the Oscar expert said it's a very good win and that people are just butthurt mad cause Keaton didn't win. But of course since it's a real life figure he's playing, the hate train begins...
Redmayne won only because it was an Oscar-bait performance… Definitely wasn’t the best of the year, not even the best amongst the nominees (Keaton was much better)…
It's important to note there was a lot of controversy surrounding the Casey Affleck nomination/win because of the sexual harrassment allegations. I honestly think if the same five nominees were in 2017 instead of 2016, Denzel would have won.
As a French, you hurted my feelings with this Jean Dujardin opinion😂.And about his following career after the Oscar he continued to play in French movies as he always did. No need to recall the fact that The Artist is a French movie… He even said that he never cared about the Oscar and that he’ll continue to play in the Molière language despise all this non-American actors who goes to Hollywood after a successful movie. Just open your mind a little bit. Hollywood is not all the cinema.
It’s an unsettling performance & yeah his intensity lent well. It took a few tries (not as many attempts as Leo had), but he finally secured his trophy
Maybe I'm just weird. Despite it being a bit Oscar-baity I still love watching Oldman in The Darkest Hour. He is so much fun and I'm relieved he finally has an Oscar.
@@Rash23215 Churchill being a hero or a monster is an endless debate, is the same thing with Oppenheimer but I hate that movie and Cillian's performance so, i think Oldman at least did a great job with a mid movie.

Malek lost at Critics Choice to Bale. I agree with George Clooney in the Decendants. That was a much better performance than Jean Dujadan. He was in The Wolf of Wallstreet with Leo, Margot and Jonah.
I think maybe Dujaden couldn't get rid of his accent, for he can get more roles in American films. Has he been in French movies instead. I just don't get why see The Artist there's plenty of silen movies out there. The dog was the best thing about it.
@gauravw6947 Think of all the great foreign actors, and they decide to, on one of the rare times, give the award to an actor who didn't do much of anything afterward.
My Top 10 Best Actor Oscar Wins of the 2010's 1. Daniel Day-Lewis (Lincoln) 2. Casey Affleck (Manchester By the Sea) 3. Colin Firth (The King's Speech) 4. Joaquin Phoenix (Joker) 5. Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club) 6. Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) 7. Leonardo Di Caprio (The Revenant) 8. Jean Du Jardin (The Artist) 9. Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody) 10. Gary Oldman (Darkest Hour)
I totally understand why Daniel Day Lewis left acting. He completely disappeared into every role he played. He wore their skin, thought only of their thoughts, their feelings. That must be absolutely exhausting! I can’t imagine how hard that must be to shake off…. But that’s what made him a quintessential master of his craft. We are grateful to you Mr Lewis 🙏
Hi Brian I'm a fan of your videos, but I would say don't get too swayed by negative comments if you have an honest opinion and feeling about something than stick by it 😊
I haven't seen all of these performances but Eddie Redmayne's performances is definitely underrated. I find him great in that performance. I also definitely love Casey Affleck in Manchester by the Sea. That police station scene and that 'I can't beat it' scene always gets me. I still rewatch it every now and then. Definitely the best of that decade for me.
If any of the winners didn’t win, who would’ve been my pick to win out of the nominees: 2010 - Jesse Eisenberg for The Social Network or James Franco for 127 Hours 2011 - George Clooney for The Descendants 2012 - Bradley Cooper for Silver Linings Playbook or Joaquin Phoenix for The Master 2013 - Leonardo DiCaprio for The Wolf of Wall Street (who should’ve won) or Chiwetel Ejiofor for 12 Years A Slave 2014 - Michael Keaton for Birdman or Benedict Cumberbatch for The Imitation Game 2015 - Happy with Leo winning but Michael Fassbender for Steve Jobs would’ve been a great winner. 2016 - Andrew Garfield for Hacksaw Ridge or Ryan Gosling for La La Land (Affleck was fantastic and I’m ok with him winning.) 2017 - Daniel Kaluuya for Get Out 2018 - Bradley Cooper for A Star Is Born (He should’ve won and swept that year!) 2019 - I would say Taron if he wasn’t snubbed but I’ll go with Adam Driver for Marriage Story
I suppose I would pick for me who did not win: 2010 - Jesse Eisenberg for Social Network 2011 - George Clooney for The Descendants 2012 - Hugh Jackman for Les Miserables 2013 - Chiwetel Ejiofor for 12 Years a Slave 2014 - Michael Keaton for Birdman 2015 - Michael Fassbender for Steve Jobs 2016 - Denzel Washington for Fences 2017 - Daniel Kaluuya for Get Out 2018 - Christian Bale for Vice 2019 - Leonardo DiCaprio for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Tbh it’s not really hard to understand why. Lead Actor was extremely stacked that year. You also had Gyllenhal and Fiennes who also was snubbed that year. There just wasn’t any room for Oyelowo.
@@poett8875ppl will never get over that. Ralph Fiennes AND Jake deserved it more than David. But I would take out Carrell and redmayne to get those dudes in. Because of that stupid controversy, Octavia Spencer gets nominated every 6 years now.
@@poett8875 Eh, I don't know if stacked is the right word. They went for very Oscar baity performances (I would have personally taken out Cooper, Cumberbatch and Redmayne for Fiennes, Gyllenhal and Oyelowo). Thank you very much for this amazing video. I'm always very passionate about the Academy Awards, but it seems that no one really cares about it. Until I found you and your wonderful channel. I would very much like if you could do a video ranking the 2000s Best Actress Oscar nominations. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Although fun fact about Jean Du Jardin’s Oscar, around award season he had a French comedy movie coming out that featured a scene of him having sex while 9/11 happened but Harvey Weinstein succeeded in getting it taken out of the film because he thought that it would hurt Jardin’s Oscar campaign
1. Casey Affleck- Manchester by the Sea 2. Joaquin Phoenix- Joker 3. Leonardo DiCaprio- The Revenant 4. DDL- Lincoln 5. Matthew McConaughey- Dallas Buyers Club 6. Gary Oldman- Darkest Hour 7. Eddie Redmayn- TTOE 8. Colin Firth- The King’s Speech 9. Jean Dujardin- The Artist 10. Rami Malek- Bohemian Rhapsody
I applaud you so much for admitting that you made a mistake :). I agree with the list, I think the Best Actress wins were stronger tbh. Fyi, not a fan of Malek's win either but he did miss Critics Choice, so he didnt sweep the entire season. He lost to Christian Bale which would've been my pick that year!
i still think today that 2017/18 should've been Hugh Jackman for Logan, after 17 years of playing the beloved character in arguably one of the best films in the genre, it was Hugh's time and he wasn't even nominated, even with the film getting into adapted screenplay I only hope he was in the sixth spot and just barely got cut, his turn in Logan is truly extraordinary and the perfect send off, also he would have an EGOT by now if this happened, justice for Jackman !!
I show Lincoln every year in my US History class and you would think they would find it boring but my students tend to like it and follow it well. It holds up. The screenplay is very good.
For me watching DDL and Sally Fields acting together in Lincoln is like watching Ali v Fraser going toe-to-toe exchanging hooks and jabs. Two juggernauts giving their all to give a performance so worthy of a masterpiece.
My ranking would probably be: 10. Rami Malek 9. Gary Oldman 8. Jean DuJardin 7. Eddie Redmayne 6. Colin Firth 5. Leonardo DiCaprio 4. Daniel Day Lewis 3. Matthew McConaughey 2. Joaquin Phoenix 1. Casey Affleck
I'm so glad you mentioned the snub of Taron Edgerton in Rocketman 💗 the golden globes got it right by giving him the win. Rocketman was leagues better than Bohemian Rhapsody.
I would have placed Affleck in the bottom half. I didn't care for the movie, and I found his performance to be very Oscar baitey, but in the opposite direction than the flashy roles. Good list though.
very Oscar baity!?!?! LOL… There wasn’t anything Oscar baity about his role and performance… He won purely on the merit of his highly superior performance…

Joaquin Pheonix definitely deserved that Oscar. I absolutely love him and he was MADE for that character. It didnt even have to be called 'Joker', just that character and the way he played him was phenomenal to me. One of my favorite movies ever and honestly without Joaquin I dont think it would be. wouldnt even be the same movie. ❤
I will forever stand on the fact Denzel Washington should have WON for Fences over Afflect! His SAG win was the CORRECT win and should have gotten him over the Oscar finish line. 💯💯💯‼️
If I picked best actor: 2010: Jesse Eisenberg 2011: Gary Oldman 2012: Joaquin Phoenix 2013: Leonardo DiCaprio 2014: Michael Keaton 2015: Leonardo DiCaprio 2016: Casey Affleck 2017: Gary Oldman 2018: Christian Bale 2019: Joaquin Phoenix
Totally on point with Joaquin Pheonix. He was so damn good in Walk The Line, I was surprised he didn’t get more acclaim for singing like Johnny Cash& his amazing portrayal of The Man In Black. But it was that performance that put him on a trajectory to play Joker. He was brilliant in that role & I am absolutely dying to see him with Gaga as Harley Quinn!
Timothee chalamet was too young and they were never gonna give a little kid best actor He will still win in future cause he is a certified movie star and he is making billions for Hollywood
The Academy has always favored performances where actors undergo extreme physical transformations. From Fredric March in "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," forward to Daniel Day Lewis in "My Left Foot," and female stars have often won in performance where they "ugly up," like Grace Kelly in "The Country Girl," Charlize Theron in "Monster," and Nicole Kidman in "The Hours." In all these cases, a lot of the reason they won was due to the makeup artists!
As a Queen fan, even though I was massively disappointed with how sanitized "Bohemian Rhapsody" was, I enjoyed the performances of each of the band members, including Rami Malek's. I felt he really captured Freddie Mercury's spirit and deserved that Oscar. With that being said, it would've been better if Sasha Baron Cohen played Freddie.
YES COLIN FIRTH IN A SINGLE MAN!!! 100% agree. It is also shockingly boring how many wins there are for playing famous historical figures. I usually root against these performances with the exception of Cillian Murphy this year.
1. Daniel Day Lewis (Lincoln) 2. Gary Oldman (Darkest Hour) 3. Colin Firth (Kings Speech) 4. Joaquin Phoenix (Joker) 5. Matthew McConaughey (DBC) 6. Casey Affleck (Manchester) 7. Leonardo DiCaprio (Revenant) 8. Eddie Redmayne (TTOE) 9. Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody) 10. Jean Dujardin (The Artist)
Agree with everything apart from The Theory of Everything. This is my personal favourite and I have watched it many times since it came out. Still remember crying in the cinema. Might be bias because of a personal attachment to the subject, but I believe the film itself is very well done and Eddy did a great job. Certainly not forgettable.
Same, I was hoping Hugh would win on his first (and currently only) nomination. However I’m not mad that DDL won his last Oscar as he is excellent in “Lincoln”
I have never felt such a overwhelming response to a film performance as I did from Joaquin Phoenix in the Joker. I turned to my friend and said "if he doesn't win an Oscar" there is no justice and my friend agreed. I know you have this love for DiCaprio, an actor I have felt so often has been miscast, but Phoenix' performance is one of the best ever put on film. Seriously. Watch it again. Affleck was excellent, but again, Day Lewis was better in Lincoln and I would put him right behind Phoenix. You are definitely right about Malek though, and Michael Keaton so deserved the Oscar over Eddie Redmayne. What the hell happened there!?
2011: Jessie Eisenberg, The social network 2012: Micheal Fassbender, shame 2013: Denis lavant, holy motors 2014: chinwetel ejiofor, 12 years a slave 2015: Ralph fiennes, the grand Budapest hotel 2016: Micheal Fassbender Steve jobs 2017: Casey Affleck, Manchester by the sea 2018: Timothy chalamet, call me by your name 2019: Ethan hawke, first reformed 2020: Adam driver , marriage story
Manchester by the Sea is my personal favorite acting performance of all time and I know that is extreme but it wasn’t marketed for the Oscars like so many films are and I was floored. In literal tears from Affleck. Unfortunate the accusations he received, and it’s likely there’s truth to them. But separate the person from the performance. Wow. A relatable janitor from Boston who’s lived a tough life. Just everything was raw and real. 10/10 performance.
Eddie redmayne in theory of everything is what got me into movies and award season. He is one of my favorite actors because of that role. I don’t think you’re taking into account how hard that role is physically. He acting was phenomenal. He had scenes where the only part of his body he could emote through was his eye movements and I still felt everything. He earned that win and had one of the best reactions and speeches.
I like your list a lot, the only thing I disagree with is I would have darkest hour much higher. I think that was an amazing preference by Gary Oldman.
my ranking of 2010's Oscars Best Actor I ranked them by the performances Eddie Redmayne - The Theory Of Everything Leonardo DiCaprio - The Revenant Joaquin Phoenix - Joker Casey Affleck - Manchester By The Sea Matthew McConaughey - Dallas Buyers Club Daniel Day-Lewis - Lincoln Colin Firth - The King's Speech Jean Dujardin - The Artist Gary Oldman - Darkest Hour Rami Malek - Bohemian Rhapsody
My personal faves are Casey Affleck, Joaquin Phoenix, Eddie Redmayne, Leonardo DiCaprio and Gary Oldman. I love Joker and was happy to see Joaquin sweep that year. Casey tore my heart open and absolutely deserves to be ranked as an all time great best actor win. I liked Eddie, it was still an impressive physical transformation and he also broke me. And I'm just happy actors like Leo and Gary have an Oscar regardless. Christian Bale for Vice should've won instead of Rami Malek.
It seems plainly apparent that the right Oscar win would win for the right performance in the RIGHT year, but surprisingly, this happens rarely. Casey Affleck winning for Manchester by the Seas is one of those rare moments. He was devastating, heartbreaking and even occasionally wry, all without being "ACTOR!"-ly at any time. I appreciate your reflection on this, Brian! We don't get these kinds of wins often, and this well-deserved #1 position in your list honours how special this was.
Eddie Redmayne for the “The Theory of Everything” is such an underrated win. People go on and on about how Michael Keaton should’ve won this year. But I don’t agree with that at all tbh. It baffles me how this win is seen as underserved.
I think it's a better win than many give it credit for winning. You can't punish every winner for being the more obvious choice .Sometimes I get it but this one I thought was fair although I love Keaton .I would hope he gets another chance.
Tbh any actor could've played Keaton's role. But not many could've played Stephen Hawking as good as Redmayne did. It's on the same level as Daniel Day Lewis in My Left Foot.
I remember renting "The Darkest Hour" from a Family Video. I'm pretty sure it was free. I just drove by there the other day and its a Dollar General now and I could probably buy that DVD for a dollar.
Maturing is when realizing like the 2010’s class of Best Actor winning is somewhat weak sauce. With a couple exceptions of exceptions, most of them are either underwhelming to questioning why they won
Hi, I like the videos of Top 10 times when the Golden Globes, Bafta and SAG got it right respect the Oscar, so i ask you to do the " Top 10 times Critics Choice got it right", i know that the critics choice are the least popular awards of the award season but it's still one of the 5 importants, some winners are better than the Oscar, also than the bafta or golden globes of that year, for example George Clooney best actor in 2012, Eddie Murphy best supporting actor in 2007, or Carey Mulligan best actrees in 2021.
Okay, the Dujardin oscar win was very fun for me, and nobody, NOBODY would've predicted that a french guy who mainly does comedies, to win an oscar. I'm french and I grew up with Brice de Nice and OSS 117. So Dujardin was my Idol, but the performance might not have been the best though. I just love him as an actor
I agree in having loved the performance as well, especially for being so charismatic in a silent film. I also give a lot of respect to him and Marion Cotillard for prioritizing their film careers back home in France instead of Hollywood, as to explain to Brian’s curiosity why people in the USA don’t hear much from Jean Dujardin.
@@smann87 Yeah, here in France, most actors who pass over to Hollywood, get a breakthrough role, even end up winning an oscar (such as with Marion Cotillard and Juliette Binoche), generally get tired or simply don't want to work in Hollywood, and instead go back making films at home
Manchester By the Sea is a Beautifull movie, cinematography is outstanding, Casey's performance was superb, the Pain in his eyes really really portraits, the Guilt he has is always hounts him, so emotional,

You spouted a bunch of words. But didn't even mention by far Dujardin's best performance in legendary Hollywood director Roman Polanski's An Officer and a Spy.
Deerskin was a really great film- glad someone else has also seen it!
I agree with this person; . . . . AC; you got it wrong
Absolutely agree with this. It's very hard role to play it right. I still remember when I finish the movie that he very good in it.
Redmayne won only because it was an Oscar-bait performance… Definitely wasn’t the best of the year, not even the best amongst the nominees (Keaton was much better)…
at the end of the day tho no one really remembers the film or redmaybe, despite all the work to be disabled
For 2020s so far, Anthony Hopkins definitely is no 1
Definitely. And female, Blanchett... Ah no, she was robbed... 😢😅 Stone then I think.
It's important to note there was a lot of controversy surrounding the Casey Affleck nomination/win because of the sexual harrassment allegations. I honestly think if the same five nominees were in 2017 instead of 2016, Denzel would have won.
The best actress ranking will be such a dramatic jump up in quality it’ll be almost comical.
Best Actress > Best Actor, and it's not even close
@@charles-edouardmorel3173 which is interesting, because Best Supporting Actor usually has much stronger winners than Best Supporting Actress
More interesting roles for men?)
@@TheCatIndeed
@TheCatIndeed sadly, there aren't a lot of really interesting female characters in supporting roles
Man that decade for best actor was rough as shit
And it could’ve been so good
I really loved Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker performance, it was so intense.
It’s an unsettling performance & yeah his intensity lent well. It took a few tries (not as many attempts as Leo had), but he finally secured his trophy
@@LucyLioness100 it is interesting how two actors have portrayed the Joker now have Oscars.
@@KaeMcSpaddenIt's a challenging role, the actors love that type of role.
Maybe I'm just weird. Despite it being a bit Oscar-baity I still love watching Oldman in The Darkest Hour. He is so much fun and I'm relieved he finally has an Oscar.
I personally can't stand a movie which makes a hero out of a monster just because he's a white man
@@Rash23215 Churchill being a hero or a monster is an endless debate, is the same thing with Oppenheimer but I hate that movie and Cillian's performance so, i think Oldman at least did a great job with a mid movie.
@@Rash23215 Personally I think you should get down off your pedestal and stop trying to make people feel guilty for enjoying a performance in a movie.
He was outstanding in that movie, I don't get people who say it was only a career win.
I disagree in 2015. Leonardo Discaprio’s competition was Michael Fassbender as Steve Jobs. His performance was unbelievable and that film is such an underrated gem
My preferences:
10. Willem Dafoe in At Eternity's Gate
9. Brad Pitt in Moneyball
8. Gary Oldman in Darkest Hour
7. Leo Dicaprio for The Wolf Of Wall Street
6. Michael Keaton in Birdman
5. Matt Damon in The Martian
4.Colin Firth in The King's Speech
3.Joaquin Phoenix in Joker
2. DDD In Lincoln
1.Casey Affleck in Manchester By The Sea
Malek lost at Critics Choice to Bale.
I agree with George Clooney in the Decendants. That was a much better performance than Jean Dujadan. He was in The Wolf of Wallstreet with Leo, Margot and Jonah.
I think maybe Dujaden couldn't get rid of his accent, for he can get more roles in American films. Has he been in French movies instead. I just don't get why see The Artist there's plenty of silen movies out there. The dog was the best thing about it.
It's ok that Bale won the critics choice that's not so important..Rami won at Oscar.. Golden globe..SAG & Bafta..Rami recognize at Palm Spring
Rami’s win is one of the most undeserved ever… Also, many are biased against Dujardin’s win because he’s a foreign actor…
@gauravw6947 Think of all the great foreign actors, and they decide to, on one of the rare times, give the award to an actor who didn't do much of anything afterward.
Casey Affleck was so good in Manchester by the Sea it convinced me Lucas Hedges was a good actor
My Top 10 Best Actor Oscar Wins of the 2010's
1. Daniel Day-Lewis (Lincoln)
2. Casey Affleck (Manchester By the Sea)
3. Colin Firth (The King's Speech)
4. Joaquin Phoenix (Joker)
5. Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club)
6. Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything)
7. Leonardo Di Caprio (The Revenant)
8. Jean Du Jardin (The Artist)
9. Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody)
10. Gary Oldman (Darkest Hour)
Love your top 10. I would perhaps swap the first two , but very good indeed.
I like Malek, but that's just an okay film and performance. Didn't get it. Bale should've won.
3:48 He came back to France to pursuit his career there. He once said he didn't want to settle in the US.
You know things are serious when my boy Brian throws down the “give me an effing break” line.
Hi Brian I'm a fan of your videos, but I would say don't get too swayed by negative comments if you have an honest opinion and feeling about something than stick by it 😊
How come no one ever mentions Hugh Jackman’s performance in Prisoners ?
Dudes so damn good
Rami malek lost the critics choice award to bale
I haven't seen all of these performances but Eddie Redmayne's performances is definitely underrated. I find him great in that performance. I also definitely love Casey Affleck in Manchester by the Sea. That police station scene and that 'I can't beat it' scene always gets me. I still rewatch it every now and then. Definitely the best of that decade for me.
If any of the winners didn’t win, who would’ve been my pick to win out of the nominees:
2010 - Jesse Eisenberg for The Social Network or James Franco for 127 Hours
2011 - George Clooney for The Descendants
2012 - Bradley Cooper for Silver Linings Playbook or Joaquin Phoenix for The Master
2013 - Leonardo DiCaprio for The Wolf of Wall Street (who should’ve won) or Chiwetel Ejiofor for 12 Years A Slave
2014 - Michael Keaton for Birdman or Benedict Cumberbatch for The Imitation Game
2015 - Happy with Leo winning but Michael Fassbender for Steve Jobs would’ve been a great winner.
2016 - Andrew Garfield for Hacksaw Ridge or Ryan Gosling for La La Land (Affleck was fantastic and I’m ok with him winning.)
2017 - Daniel Kaluuya for Get Out
2018 - Bradley Cooper for A Star Is Born (He should’ve won and swept that year!)
2019 - I would say Taron if he wasn’t snubbed but I’ll go with Adam Driver for Marriage Story
I suppose I would pick for me who did not win:
2010 - Jesse Eisenberg for Social Network
2011 - George Clooney for The Descendants
2012 - Hugh Jackman for Les Miserables
2013 - Chiwetel Ejiofor for 12 Years a Slave
2014 - Michael Keaton for Birdman

Idea: Video on why David Oyelowo was snubbed for Best Actor for Selma in the 2015 Oscar race.
PLEASEEEEE 2015 was such a weird ceremony
Tbh it’s not really hard to understand why. Lead Actor was extremely stacked that year. You also had Gyllenhal and Fiennes who also was snubbed that year. There just wasn’t any room for Oyelowo.
@@poett8875 true. but during that time, there was controversy that all the acting categories had ZERO people of color nominated.
@@poett8875ppl will never get over that. Ralph Fiennes AND Jake deserved it more than David. But I would take out Carrell and redmayne to get those dudes in. Because of that stupid controversy, Octavia Spencer gets nominated every 6 years now.

Christian Bale was terrific in Vice, should've won honestly.
i still think today that 2017/18 should've been Hugh Jackman for Logan, after 17 years of playing the beloved character in arguably one of the best films in the genre, it was Hugh's time and he wasn't even nominated, even with the film getting into adapted screenplay I only hope he was in the sixth spot and just barely got cut, his turn in Logan is truly extraordinary and the perfect send off, also he would have an EGOT by now if this happened, justice for Jackman !!

Timothee chalamet was too young and they were never gonna give a little kid best actor
He will still win in future cause he is a certified movie star and he is making billions for Hollywood
I don't know exactly on that level yet ,he wasn't bringing in money before dune or Wonka, it could be a Ryan gosling Barbie thing
Also as a longtime Queen fan, I thought Malek FAR from captured Mercury's spirit. He was so tentative and mousy, and Freddie was never mousy!
I love your opinionsssss, from Brazil, thanksss
Rami malek was infiniTELY better as snafu in the pacific than as Freddie Mercury lol
YES COLIN FIRTH IN A SINGLE MAN!!! 100% agree. It is also shockingly boring how many wins there are for playing famous historical figures. I usually root against these performances with the exception of Cillian Murphy this year.

Just like Emma Stone winning her second Oscar, with Sir Daniel Day-Lewis, I did not expect him to win. I was expecting Hugh Jackman to win.
Same, I was hoping Hugh would win on his first (and currently only) nomination. However I’m not mad that DDL won his last Oscar as he is excellent in “Lincoln”
Appreciate that you accepted your mistake. Casey Affleck is by far the best "Best Actor Winner" of the past decade

Casey Affleck - Manchester By The Sea
Matthew McConaughey - Dallas Buyers Club
Daniel Day-Lewis - Lincoln
Colin Firth - The King's Speech
Jean Dujardin - The Artist

I will pick Redmayne any day of the week over Keaton
I agree with you
Tbh any actor could've played Keaton's role. But not many could've played Stephen Hawking as good as Redmayne did. It's on the same level as Daniel Day Lewis in My Left Foot.

Maturing is when realizing like the 2010’s class of Best Actor winning is somewhat weak sauce. With a couple exceptions of exceptions, most of them are either underwhelming to questioning why they won
I don't understand why this channel has only 10k views per video.
I still love the film, and I love his performance. I'd say its actually one of my fave best picture and actor wins ever
I remember watching Manchester by the sea and Casey affleck's performance it was one of the highlights of my cinematic life. He was devastating.
Manchester By the Sea is a Beautifull movie, cinematography is outstanding, Casey's performance was superb, the Pain in his eyes really really portraits, the Guilt he has is always hounts him, so emotional,

Casey Affleck may be my favorite win ever.
