Thanks a lot. I learned in depth detail of how pilot works. It really helped me to solve the yellow flame problem because I didn’t know the cap was needed to create pressure. Without the cap, yellow flame caused a lot of soots and carbon monoxide
Mine was burning orange in my pool heater and the thermocouple was collecting unburned carbon gunk and it stopped sensing flame. I reached to clean it, and it fixed the problem, but I noticed flames under the bracket, clearly it wasn't alright because it melted sensor wire isolation off. Soon after, pilot tube broke off completely and the whole thing was burning in hell. Turns out the tube completely rusted off. I made a new aluminum tube and fittings, and now it burns in steady blue flame. I watched your video prior and couldn't understand what kind of blue flame you were talking about. Now I see.
My pilot used on a burner for a pizza oven is acting inconsistent. When I first start the oven it works fine, but as the oven come up to temp (800f) the pilot starts to die off and hence shuts off my pizza oven. Any idea why the pilot is getting cutoff when the temp is hight?

It's a fireplace and after 2 days you can see a huge accumulation of smoke on the window. The pressure is 10 wc.( propane) for some reason,there is no adjustment.It's installed in the basement. I cleaned it. Replace the wood onside ( not wood, but, anyways) If ever you have an idea, please let me know.

Can you clean out the orifice hole with maybe a needle or small wire, or, small drill? Or do you have to replace the orifice, or whole assembly? THANKS FRIEND.
We got a nifty tool: Leavey Pilot Cleaning Pump Kit. Great Pilot Cleaning Tool. Pipe cleaners, pins, small wire, etc... enlarge the Orifice hole - then, it's replacement time. :( We have even used air in a can for $2.55 - that works.
Q: Are all honeywell pilot burner with orifice the same? I'm going to replace mines. I have the OEM parts number, but unfortunately I can find it on line to buy it. Local plumming/heating supply store can find on number
After thoroughly cleaning off the Thermopyle, the Thermocouple, and the metal gas flame supply orifice, and vacuuming the area, my pilot light is still weak. It doesn't seem to energize the Thermocouple and Thermopyle. As a result, the main burner doesn't ignite. How can I get a robust pilot flame?
If the pilot is entirely blue and covering both the thermocouple and the thermopile, it is probably ok. If not, there is a pilot adjust screw on the gas valve. GFM

After removing and cleaning this pilot/flame sensor the furnace fired right up. 3 days later she began having the same problem would it be safe to assume this part needs replaced? It was pretty dirty I cleaned it all with steel wool but there was corrosion.
The flame should be blue and covering the thermocouple by 3/8". Also, there thermocouple may be weak. If the flame is ok, the thermocouple would be the first culprit I would look at. GFM
@@grayfurnaceman so after getting a look at it seems like it's having a spark issue not a pilot one. It no longer Sparks like it did the first time I cleaned the thermocouple and got it working. It will spark once during starting sequence then all I hear is gas from the pilot after about 30 seconds it Sparks once ignite the pilot which is a blue flame then stops and restarts the firing sequence. I replaced the thermocouple just because I already had the part with no success could it be the intermittent spark module? Edit: after reseating the connections to the spark module I got one good ignition sequence where it sparked good then nothing. I went ahead and ordered the control module. This is for a Kenmore power miser 70 by the way pretty old unit but it worked great the very first time I cleaned the thermocouple I'm just at a loss here.

If the pilot flame goes out, the pilot safety will shut down the gas supply.

You could, if you simply ran a gas valve and pilot assembly set for propane in the pilot only position with the main gas outlet plugged.

They are not the same. Depending on whether the spark ignition was original equipment or and upgrade, it could have virtually any pilot assembley.
