Thank you 🙏🏽 I have an old jalopy just like this and I cleaned the coupler with a steal brush and the pilot light of white dusty buildup. The furnace fired right up. Thanks for walking me through this at 1am on a 33 degree night.
Really appreciate you showing the struggle of getting that shield back in place. I hate it when folks make it look like you just pop something in easy peasy and then I go to do it and I'm like what the fuck!
I have a Tappan natural gas furncae with a manual light pilot with no clogs easy to blow through and thermocouple is clean but not lighting since gas company put new gas line in from road to house. Gas man said he couldn't light it. I pulled both parts out and they are clean. Could the valve just become bad or can they clog or is there a gas pressure issue? The gas stove works fine. I test a new pilot and thermocouple same result.
A few years ago, my pilot light would not stay lit. So the guy I called decided to replace the thermocouple. It still wouldn't stay lit. Then he replaced that thing that's about the size of a Rubik's Cube, in your video it's around 5 inches above the burners, I think it's called a gas control and costs around $200. The pilot light still would not stay lit. Then he did something, and it worked ok after that. I'm wondering if all he did was just clean the pilot light with his fingers, and maybe I didn't need a new thermocouple or a gas control, just a simple cleaning of the pilot light. Or maybe he bent the thermocouple closer to the pilot light. Separate question, my boiler is close to the door, around 3 feet to the left of it. Is it possible that if the door closes quickly, it generates a gust of wind that could blow out the pilot light?
Thanks for the video. I was trying to solve my own problem here in NYC. I have a Weil McNail CGA Gold boiler and its not working. The boiler is making a clicking noise with two red lights blinking in the electric module. Do you know what might the reason be? Thanks again!
Had an old gear gas valve on boiler gas smell call used bubbles on all the pilot lines blk. pipe ftgs. nothing broke out lighter gas valve leaking at top of 40 year old gas valve v-800 time.

My pilot won’t stay lit. Soon as I leave the knob go it goes out. I have replaced the thermocouple I tried two new ones. I even replaced the valve and still pilot won’t stay lit. It’s the 36c03-333 valve old valve not a new like smart one. I don’t get it, think the pilot hole could be the culprit. I mean honestly what else is there?? As long as you have a pilot on the thermocouple that pilot should stay lit once knob is released right??

Ha you leak checked the same way my Pops taught me 55 years ago! An ex Navy man... "If it don't light... it must be tight!"
This was taught to me by an old time vet I once worked for. Many look down on this yet it works. Any unsafe leak can be heard.

Could you possibly do a video showing all the drawers, tools, and supplies that you keep in your van??? That would be awesome. Thanks
yeah, give the thieves a detailed view and listing of everything LOL....
sadly I'm sure many watch youtube for added targeting
I was waiting for the "beeps" in the audio when you was trying to put that cover back on.
Hope things are good haven’t seen your comments in some time
Thank you so much for sharing this video, it was very helpful 🙏🏼
Nice work as always. Next time, when you replace the gas valve, perhaps put a drip leg on that gas line.
Exelent work … thanks for posting video …
Screw keeps falling on the floor. Third time the charm. haha, same with me, some things want to fight you. :)
Those pilot screws never go back easy
Great customer service Hacker !!
Soap and water for leak testing might be a better way then a lighter
ALLWAY---take a picture BEFORE you start!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Possible but boiler should not put in a confined small space ,it’s a fire hazard
looks like the homeowner was trying to light the thermocouple wire instead of the pilot, going by how blackened the copper was below the nut lol
Try using a set of easy-outs to remove the pilot orifice in the future.

Where or how could I buy the thermocouple?
Hvac supply houses sell them
@@thehvachacker is there a way to find out the appropriate one?
Good 1 Bill ...
What kind of work lights are you using? Those are bright.
I think the long light is a Harbor Freight rechargeable.
wholy crap they must have been having a dance party upstairs or something. yikes.
The burner clip
A good way to clean pilots is with a can of compressed air.
What if the pilot light keeps going out
When does it go out at beginning or while system has been running awhile
@@thehvachacker both... when it get to run it entire things shut off, burner and pilot
Thermocouple bad, replace... Most common failure...
Do you have to turn the whole gas to the house off before you do that
