Actually, his books are hard to read. The language changes. Nevertheless, he lived in times very very similar to ours, weak ummah, lots of sects coming to the surface, Christine Occupation, preaching Christianity, Mongols destructions, Mongol leaders pretending to be Muslims but ruling by laws they made up. That's why reading his work is like reading from someone living with us.
Ibn Tamiyya was absolutely ignorant of christian doctrine. And also, all I see is an accusation of innovation, while he is clearly innovating interpretations about the bible. Like his interpretation about “baptise in the name of The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. As if that is not innovated😂. Such a hypocrite. He also says things like “Who was in charge of the heavens when Christ died” as accusation. As if christians believed the eternal divine nature died😂😂
@@bwc1245 oh ok then stop preaching "god died for your sins" shape shifters snackes..n if u try that trick oh no only the human part of Jesus died then u will be falling in the bible judged pagan act of human sacrifice..subhanAllah amma tasifun
@@mbarnabeus It is official doctrine that the divine eternal never parished or damaged. It’s language bro. Jesus is a divine person, cause he has a divine nature (with his human nature)But those two nature’s DO NOT mix. So the eternal divine nature didn’t became truly flesh or anything like that. Muslims interpreting it that way is just pathetic. He took on flesh. Athanasius in “On the incarnation” said it properly: God the Son wielded the flesh
Personally, Larry Hurtado's thesis on Christology is a brilliant resource for Muslims to use and understand how the innovated high Christology evolved after Jesus which came to be via' "revelatory experiences" Hurtado's thesis was the turning point for me in acknowledging Islam to be a true representation of authentic monotheism of all Prophets of God
Hurtado was famous for documenting the "mutation" of worship practices that a segment of early Jewish Jesus followers began to display publicly and privately and how a High Christology among believers emerges much earlier than 1st century scholarship recognized previously.
thank you this is beautiful. Ibn Taymiyah is a beacon of knowledge in dozens of subjects. knows them all by heart. and understands those subjects really well. and he’s one of the best logicians of all time. he was also very brave in his time. May Allah have mercy on him and forgive him. People who bad mouth him don’t have the mental and spiritual capability to go through his texts and books and they talk without knowledge. He was not perfect, but he was a rare type of scholars. and should only be approached with respect regardless if a person agrees with him or not. and I don’t think this should be your last video about him :) I love to learn more about him and others. avoiding mentioning ibn taymiyah when it comes to theology, fiqh or logic is like avoiding mentioning Muhamad Ali on a boxing channel!!

Jon Hoover is wrong. Ibn Taymiyya did believe the Bible is corrupted. Here’s what Ibn Taymiyya actually said: “The majority of Muslims deny both [the proposition] that none of the wording found in the previous sacred books of Christians and Jews has ever undergone textual substitution and that all of its wording was handed down from God. They hold either that tabdil has occurred in some of its formulations, or that it cannot be said with certainty that its expressions were revealed by God. It is not possible to make an argument of the expressions in these books in opposition to what has been already established. Muslims claim that the Torah and the Gospel which the People of the Book today possess are not the products of successive transmission from Moses and Jesus [lam tatawatar 'an Musa wa-'Isa]. The chain of transmission of the Torah was broken first at the time of the destruction of Jerusalem and the expulsion of the Israelites from the city. They state that the one who dictated the Torah to them at a later date was a certain person called Ezra, whom they claim to be a prophet. Some people say that he was not a prophet, but that he only discovered a copy which they found to be ancient. It is also said that he produced a text which had been in the Maghrib. None of this necessitates the successive transmission of every expression nor prevents the occurrence of error in some cases. A similar situation occurs with those books whose copying and collation follows closely upon them, but which are memorized by only a few, perhaps two or three persons. Christians admit that the Gospel which they possess was not written down by Christ nor dictated by him to those who wrote it down. Matthew and John, companions of Christ, dictated it only after the ascension of Christ; moreover, it had not been memorized by the great number of people necessary according to the principles of successive transmission. Neither Mark nor Luke ever saw Christ. All these men stated that they mentioned some of what Christ said and some of his messages, and that they did not have room to mention other words and deeds.” A MUSLIM THEOLOGIAN'S RESPONSE TO CHRISTIANITY p.g 215-216

The Salaf of the Ummah, its leading Imaams and all of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jamaa'ah are united that from the created things are those that will never disappear and will never expire completely such as Paradise and Hellfire, the Throne and other than that. And no one spoke of the expiration of all of the created things except a faction from the innovating people of kalaam, such as al-Jahm bin Safwaan and whoever agreed with hiim from the Mu'tazilah and their likes. Paul, a questions regarding what you presented on behalf of Ibn Taymia and it seems you agree with him. You mentioned this aya, Surah Yunus, Verse 94: But if you are in doubt as to what We have revealed to you, ask those who read the Book before you; certainly the truth has come to you from your Lord, therefore you should not be of the disputers. (English - Shakir) As it is widely known that " ask those who read the book before you " refers to the "people of the book" a term which means Jews & Christians. Now, does Allah ask Muhammad to get guidance from people who follow a corrupted & innovated religion? Please explain, thank you.
According to Al-Tabari when he discussed this verse in his book of Al-Tafseer, the verse meant only for Prophet Muhammad to ensure himself as a prophet. This verse not meant to refer the Jews and Christians for everything regarding the religion. Al-Tabari mentioned that if Prophet Muhammad has doubt about who he is (as a prophet), he may ask the people of the books (Jews and Christians) which they knew about him due to the bible and Taurat mentioned about a prophet will be sent after 'Isa (Jesus).

I always said and I'll say again, Salafi emerge to protect Islam from becoming another Christianity and apparently this was the idea of Ibn Taymyyiah. Because when you see how far away from the message of Muhammad some of Sufi sects goes(notice I said some of because I have great respect for Al-Ghazaly and similar Sufi), just check Ibn Al-Arabi teaching and ideas you will excuse ibn taymyyiah harshness.
Ibn taymiyyah was one of the great scholars. He was an Alama. That should not even be a discussion if studied hia works. But the people are judging on a single statement instead of studying his works. And the hatred or ill will against him is usually from ahlul bidah(the people of innovation).
A lot of these things they accuse Ibn Taymiyyah of saying is him responding to and refuting heretics. It's not his actual position. But that won't get in the way of a good lie.
*I am not sure about the word "controversial"? Why is that exactly?* *Was that because he exposed Greek influenced schools? Was that because he exposed sufi heretics? Was that because he was calling for reviving the understanding of the first generation in this Ummah? He was clear and provided his arguments with strong evidences.*

Why depend on 2' sources like Hoover or others when you have the actual 1' source (very often literally the manuscript in the person's own handwriting). It makes no sense to take 2' sources as reliable, especially when it contradicts what the actual scholar said. Ibn Taymiyya said very clearly that the gospels are not the same as the Injeel that was revealed to Jesus (pbuh). @@BenM61 No. All of them were Muslims. The Jewish and Christian faith today is an innovated heretics that get stray from the original pure path of God to mankind.
Abd-al-Ahad Islam means submission to the one and only God. All the prophets since Adam a.s. thru Moses and Jesus right to Muhammad a.s. preached Islam and their followers were Muslims. "Christianity" and "Judaism" were created by man; you will not find verses in their books saying that God had revealed them, as in the Qur'an for Islam. (You will also not find God revealing the "Bible" to them; that book was made after Jesus' exit)
It's a pity that you have decided not to talk about Ibn Taimiyya any longer. This great figure was an excellent scholar, debater, warrior and a man of the people who was loved and respected by the general public and hated by charlatans. Add to that: he was one of the first Muslim scholars to encourage Muslims to travel to the lands of the disbelievers to gain beneficial knowledge for their Ummah back home. May Allah have mercy on him and reward him profusely.
@BloggingTheology thanks for managing this unique platform. Don't worry about all the Ibn Taymiyya haters, they're speaking about that which they don't understand. I assure you he is one of the most important Imams in the Hanbali mathab and all our asaaneed (chains of transmission) go through him. He is often taken out of context. Those things he related according to his ijtihad in matters of aqeeda that are aberrant are accepted as such and a result of his use of kalam which is prohibited in the Hanbali aqeeda. The fact he was buried in the Sufi graveyard is understood that whatever aberrant positions he may have ACTUALLY held, he repented from, and Allah knows best.

Paul, on your channel, and I’m pretty sure other Muslim channels, this Christian group is putting an add of Christians who converted from Islam, and defaming Islam. Things like portraying Allah SWT as always wanting to punish and there being no forgiveness, when I’m pretty sure it’s a sin to be hopeless of the mercy of Allah SWT. We should stop these guys from putting adds here.
Ibn Taymyyah spoke the truth and facts regardless of the opinion of others, may Allah bestow mercy and forgiveness on him. As Muslims we believe not only in prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and the Quran, but also in Jesus and Moses as prophets of Allah and their books, the original Injeel (Bible) and original Torah.
I'm Muslim but how do you explain Saint Peters basilica? Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Good question. Who was Saint Peter? What did Jesus tell him to do? "Go to Jerusalem but don't go to the pharisees, saducees or samaritans(mixed blood jews) for the time is near", said Jesus. But he went to the gentiles in Rome to teach the gospel instead and was crucified upside-down by the romans. He disowned Jesus when the rooster crowed. What kind of a disciple was that? Not once but three times he did that.
@@teresanunez8941 I think the idea that the "Saint Peter's grave" can be found within the Vatican is disputed by some historians. The grave may or may not be there.
I wish u read this miraculous hadith in ur shorts. A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Everyone has been created with three hundred and sixty Joints. Whoever mentions Allah's greatness (says Allahu Akbar), praises Allah, extols Allah, and seeks forgiveness from Allah and removes stones from the path of the people, enjoins what is good and forbids the evil to the amount of those three hundred and sixty joints (sulama), he walks on that Day (of Judgment) having distanced himself from the Hell fire."
Paul, how do you square away & reconcile your claim & the claim of ibn taymia that Christianity is an innovated religion, which means it was corrupted by Jesus' followers, with this aya: Surah Aal-e-Imran, Verse 55: And when Allah said: O Isa, I am going to terminate the period of your stay (on earth) and cause you to ascend unto Me and purify you of those who disbelieve and make those who follow you above those who disbelieve to the day of resurrection; then to Me shall be your return, so l will decide between you concerning that in which you differed. (English - Shakir) Here in this aya Allah promises that he will "purify you (speaking to Isa) of those who disbelieve and make those who follow you above those who disbelieve to the day of resurrection;" So, how did this promise of Allah turn upside down & the followers of Isa became disbelievers (innovators) before the day of the resurrection? Why didn't Allah purify Isa from those innovators as he promised? Or, the claim of innovation is an innovation itself? Can you please explain? thank you
Isn't this a similar type of unauthorised innovation that took place in Islam during the reign of the khalifahs? In the sense that quran's chapters were shuffled at random, the writing style of the quran was innovated. The call of morning prayer was innovated. The way the hands were folded (or not folded) was innovated. The tarraweh prayers were introduced. All this was innovated afterwards without the concent of prophet Muhammad s.a.w. The Prophet s.a.w gave us a complete Islam in its totality and we introduced innovations. If prophet s.a.w was to come back today, would he be pleased with these unauthorised innovations? Didn't Ibn-Taimiyaah comment on these innovations?
1) The chapter chronology in the Mushaf is fine because no muslim is claiming it was revealed in this exact order. Aishah mentioned the order doesnt matter (in the mushaf) 2) the prophet said ﷺ follow the right guided caliphas after him. Putting the Quran in between 2 book covers was agreed upon by all rightly guided caliphas. Caliphas 3) same with the writing style 4) the call to prayer happened during the prophet’s ﷺ lifetime. 5) the hands being folded is not innovated because the prophet ﷺ put his right over his left. 6) the Taraweeh prayer was introduced during the prophets ﷺ life. He didnt continue out of fear that Allah will make it obligatory and the people will fail to uphold it. When the prophet ﷺ passed away, revelation was complete. So we can still pray taraweeh. Idk how you get it was introduced after??? Islam acknowledges that there will be muslims who do innovations. And Yes, ibn Taymiyyah did speak on muslims doing innovations which is completely wrong. Didnt you understand the difference of these matters and innovations of the jews and christians with their books and prophets???

Yeah because revelation of Quran they all are Muslim too but when they refuses to accept Quran as last revelation of and instead of manipulated Bible and worshiping Jesus peace be upon him who is actually Messenger of Allah they are no more Muslim but Islam was that time too
He is using that term as it is more recognisable as a period in time to the majority of people on here, he is merely making it relatable and it is not a derogatory term.
Islam has been the religion of all prophets and is named based on submission to one true supernatural God. All other religions are man made and are named after some human prophet ,tribe , place and so on.
I don't know why brother paul calls Ibn Taimmiyah "controversial" again and again. He (Ibn Taimmiyah) unequivocally criticised heretical beliefs within Islam and in other religions. Does calling a spade a spade make you controversial? Just a thought🗯

Jon Hoover might be the leading expert in West about Ibn Taymiyyah but he misquotes Ibn Taymiyyah a lot. He presents Ibn Taymiyyah to be against Al-Qur’an which is not right. According to your previous videos with this book Allah sitting on His throne (istawa’ alal arsh) which has a lot of meanings. If you take just sitting, you drawing on a wrong conclusion. Hellfire for disbelievers being eternity, it states in the whole Quran a lot to be eternity. Innovation in Christianity; the Verses he quoted are right but he misunderstood them. The pillars of faith in Islam one of them is to believe in the existence of the previous books which had the same message like Quran(Those books were there but people corrupted them, we don’t believe in the message they are carrying now, we do believe false massage in these books is more than the true message in them) but still we don’t count them out at the same time, we don’t use them to judge. **Maybe Ibn Taymiyyah made mistakes or the writer misquoted some of Ibn Taymiyyah’s writings and he drew on conclusion. In my view if you are looking for the truth, first search in the Quran and hadith then other Islamic scholars’ views but if you are looking for the criticism those are the right kind of books you need .
Ibn Taymiyya reduces the Trinity down to God the father, the son as prophet and the Spirit as Gabriel. Yet if God is father from his very nature then He must be fathering someone else apart from creation. Who is the Father fathering in eternity according to Ibn Taymiyya's theology? If the Father is not fathering someone else in eternity the Father is fathering someone by adoption in temporal time. Who has the Father adopted inside time to have the Father called a Father? If the Father is only father by adopting someone in temporal time the father is only a father nominally and the real identity of the father remains unknown. Who is God the Father of Islam when the Father only acts within creation to be a Father whilst not being a Father from His own life had outside creation? By removing any reference to the Trinity does Islam remove any reference to the intrinsic supernatural life God has in himself apart from creation? If so, does the identity of God in Islam remain unknowable?
But there was no trinity dogma like you people now wrongly believe until 381. Those two people you cited did not claim that Jesus was equal to god whom you call the father. If you have evidence indicating otherwise, show it to us.

So if Mohammed was the final prophet in a line of prophets and the bible is corrupt, where is this line of prophets recorded without corruption? If there is no other tradition of prophets consistent with the Quran, why believe the claims of Islam about their prophet?

That's why reading his work is like reading from someone living with us.
Ibn Tamiyya was absolutely ignorant of christian doctrine. And also, all I see is an accusation of innovation, while he is clearly innovating interpretations about the bible. Like his interpretation about “baptise in the name of The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. As if that is not innovated😂. Such a hypocrite. He also says things like “Who was in charge of the heavens when Christ died” as accusation. As if christians believed the eternal divine nature died😂😂

Jon Hoover is wrong. Ibn Taymiyya did believe the Bible is corrupted. Here’s what Ibn Taymiyya actually said:
“The majority of Muslims deny both [the proposition] that none of the wording found in the previous sacred books of Christians and Jews has ever undergone textual substitution and that all of its wording was handed down from God. All these men stated that they mentioned some of what Christ said and some of his messages, and that they did not have room to mention other words and deeds.”

You mentioned this aya,
Surah Yunus, Verse 94:
But if you are in doubt as to what We have revealed to you, ask those who read the Book before you; certainly the truth has come to you from your Lord, therefore you should not be of the disputers.
(English - Shakir)
As it is widely known that " ask those who read the book before you " refers to the "people of the book" a term which means Jews & Christians.
Ibn taymiyyah made quite a bit of innovations in Islam as well.

@@monkeymonk2081 The Roman Catholic church sits on top of Saint Peters grave. It's called the Vatican. Saint Peter completed Jesus' prophecy.

A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
"Everyone has been created with three hundred and sixty Joints.
Paul, how do you square away & reconcile your claim & the claim of ibn taymia that Christianity is an innovated religion, which means it was corrupted by Jesus' followers, with this aya:
Surah Aal-e-Imran, Verse 55:
And when Allah said: O Isa, I am going to terminate the period of your stay (on earth) and cause you to ascend unto Me and purify you of those who disbelieve and make those who follow you above those who disbelieve to the day of resurrection; then to Me shall be your return, so l will decide between you concerning that in which you differed.
(English - Shakir)
Here in this aya Allah promises that he will "purify you (speaking to Isa) of those who disbelieve and make those who follow you above those who disbelieve to the day of resurrection;"
So, how did this promise of Allah turn upside down & the followers of Isa became disbelievers (innovators) before the day of the resurrection? Why didn't Allah purify Isa from those innovators as he promised?
Or, the claim of innovation is an innovation itself?
Can you please explain? thank you
Thank you Paul.
Aishah mentioned the order doesnt matter (in the mushaf)
2) the prophet said ﷺ follow the right guided caliphas after him. Putting the Quran in between 2 book covers was agreed upon by all rightly guided caliphas. Caliphas
3) same with the writing style
4) the call to prayer happened during the prophet’s ﷺ lifetime.
*Last Book of God "Quran" is Book of books, and Truth of all Truths; and Quran tells us: near God acceptable Deen (Divinely Prescribed Way of Life) is only one, and that is Islam only. Famous German speaking theologians Adolf von Harnack and Albert Schweitzer rejected deity of Christ too.
This dude john hoover is big fan of ibm Taimiyah? Why is he not reverted yet
John Hoover has many mistakes about Ibn Taymyyiah.
And qhazaly next plz
Islam has been the religion of all prophets and is named based on submission to one true supernatural God. All other religions are man made and are named after some human prophet ,tribe , place and so on.
We praise God for guiding us to Islam, Worshipping no one but Him alone.
Aameen❤
Paul, you might know that Ibn-e-Taymiyah was introduced in Muslim India by Shah Waliy-ullah. Please, make a video on him.
I don't know why brother paul calls Ibn Taimmiyah "controversial" again and again. He (Ibn Taimmiyah) unequivocally criticised heretical beliefs within Islam and in other religions. Does calling a spade a spade make you controversial? Just a thought🗯
Maybe because Ibn Taymiyya has different beliefs from mainstream scholars perhaps. Or certain people disagree with what he wrote. I mean, it's not a bad word.
Make a video about sultan baibars...he defeated the mongols n crusaders but had a lot of controversy to get power. Possibly got sultan qutuz assinated
agreed, if im not mistaken he also throw ibn Taimiyyah into prison several times
@@asmrnaturecat984 yes lots of controversy but I love him he was a warrior n was the general behind crushing the crusaders n mongols. I guess qutuz did not keep he's promise but he should not have gotten killed especially after that great win. Mamluks literally saved the known world. Mongols were sacking everything n jersalem was next.
@@kingofdetroit358 qutuz was assassinated just after several days of ain jalut, too early to decide he break the promise, plus.. why become the governor of aleppo in the border when you can become the sultan of the whole egypt and syria?
@@asmrnaturecat984 I think before the battle baibars got promised something. I guess I expected baibars to have the character of salahuddin , I guess baibars justified qutuz breaking he's oath a heresy. Baibars is still one of my favorite hero's because he was the main factor in the unbelievable wins because Allah made n guided him. Muslims need to show more love to him, because what the mongols did to Baghdad would of happened everywhere, those crusaders sided with the mongols but the Muslims still won. History shows Allah is with us n Inshallah the caliphate will be re established.
Jon Hoover might be the leading expert in West about Ibn Taymiyyah but he misquotes Ibn Taymiyyah a lot. He presents Ibn Taymiyyah to be against Al-Qur’an which is not right. According to your previous videos with this book
Allah sitting on His throne (istawa’ alal arsh) which has a lot of meanings.
Even today the Muslim community is responsible for giving the most charity in the USA 🇺🇸 in a recent poll. Muslim Americans.
Would you mind if I asked you to please say" Please be upon him" after mention the name of the last prophet. Thank you in advance
Paul have you read the book, 'how foreign beliefs led to decline of Muslim Civilization' by Umar Quinn?
I highly recommend
thank you I enjoyed that a lot
It would be very unfortunate if this is really the last video you would make about Ibn Taymeyyah's writings.
Polycarp, and Ignatius believed the Divinity of Jesus Christ. They both lived near the time of the Apostles.
But there was no trinity dogma like you people now wrongly believe
until 381. Those two people you cited did not claim that Jesus was equal to god whom you call the father. If you have evidence indicating otherwise, show it to us.
@@BenM61 oh 381 only confirms what was universally believed by early Christians. Even Jews sources have compound one for God. So how Trinity prove sex slavery correct? Only crazy criminal mind would justify like Muhammad did.
@@okiedokiecookie Thanks for sharing about Polycarp and Ignatius. I have to read more about them.
Last and final teastement Quran for you all congratulations truth prevail ❤️🌹❤️
Ibnu tamiyyah in that matter is efficiently clear.
I'm on Al Farabi tho now
Ibnu Taimiyah is a real muslim scholar.
Says the people who believe that there is anyone at all who can enter into hell and somehow escape from it…
Brother Paul.
Can you tell us about John hover?.
I mean they wouldn't disagree with that statement too 🤷🏾♂️
Thanks Allah for Ibn taymia .
Please do a video on Ibn Hajar Al Asqalani
This afternoon, a Sectarian Christian preached for some 30 minutes to convince me that his Bible was the very Word of Christ and God, and he would not even OPEN HIS MIND to reason, logic and common sense that would allow him or anybody to see the innovations and corruptions in HIS Bible!
BAFS
رحم الله الإمام العلامة شيخ الإسلام قاهر المتكلمين والجهمية والرافضة احمد تقي الدين ابن تيمية رحمة واسعة
So if Mohammed was the final prophet in a line of prophets and the bible is corrupt, where is this line of prophets recorded without corruption? If there is no other tradition of prophets consistent with the Quran, why believe the claims of Islam about their prophet?
