    I just did the exact same build. Thank you for the absolutely fantastic review -- truly. I was trying to choose between the 1510 -- and the 1535 -- and ONLY went with the 1510 based on your review. I'm on the plane now for it's maiden voyage and everything is absolutely fantastic. Can't say thank you enough -- I will be hitting subscribe.

      Absolutely. 5 flights this week -- so far so good. No issues with it fitting. I went with Tan so that there wasn't a subconscious association with firearms when people look at it. Also worth noting -- I don't have my lid organizer yet, but was able to fit 5 days worth of clothes -- and two pairs of shoes with no issues. This includes two pairs of jeans, two pairs of shorts, 3 button up shirts, 3 polos, 3 t-shirts, and 4 undershirts. If someone can't fit your stuff in this case -- they need to pack less stuff, haha. Thanks again and have a good one!

    I contemplated getting the 1535, but went with the 1510 with the trekpak dividers. The 1535 was slightly more expensive, and I prefer the more solid 1510. Love it! I think if weight is an issue, then the 1535 would be fine.

    I'm planning on purchasing a 1615 air model. And I keep going back and forth between the yellow and the orange colors 😀. I think orange will help hide the scuff marks better than the yellow. But I do like the yellow color better.

    Color cases are the least likely to be stolen. Why? Because luggage thieves pick black as it blends in and they can always argue they made a mistake if confronted. What I don’t know is the theft rate of a pelican. Perhaps a more value inside perceived. By the way the TSA lock is NOT required. You can show up to the airport early and lock it after inspection with real locks. Shutter locks have a short shackle so the unit lid can’t be opened very far. If the TSA says to you that’s for fire arm only Preinspection, go buy a serial numbered firing chamber part to declare it. The TSA master keys can be purchased on the internet. Junk.

      I don't have a problem with it being stolen, but my problem is I over pack, but I'm the best and fastest bagger and have worked at a grocery store for a long time so I can pack...I overpack, and they always open it at every single airport and half my stuff is hanging out every time...Chicago, Orlando, LAX, Oregon, and Arizona, and every time they open it and can't close it back up, what do you suggest to do about that?

    • @BSFilms1997

      Are combination locks worth using, or is it better to use keys because a thief can just brute-force it?

      Carry On!

    • @theishkid
      @theishkid  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally the size lock you put on these things isn't going to matter if someone steals it. They will all be so small that a small bolt cutter would take care of them. Any lock is going to be great to keep someone out of your bag if you get distracted for a minute.

      extra pins and dividers i mean

    • @theishkid
      @theishkid  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      So if memory serves me correctly, I bought the trekpak system and it wasn't quite enough pins or dividers. So I purchased 2 extra dividers and one extra bag of pins for the case. I've actually already changed mine up since I did this video though. I bought a new lens so I had to make room for it, but I also got tired of taking off and putting on the lens hood each time I took a lens out... that got really old really fast.

  • @charlesirvine9335
    @charlesirvine9335 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like your choice of the sturdier 1510. Does the trek pak system allow for a large telephoto lens. I have a Tamrom 150-600? B&H says it will hold my lens but Im not sure if I should get the dividers or the treK pak?

    • @theishkid
      @theishkid  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As long as it will fit in the case the TrekPak will hold it. And if you're worried about them you can always brace them up more for sturdiness. I love the TrekTak system. If they could cut the price down a bit they would put the padded dividers out of business.

    Hey, Brad! I know you didn't end up keeping it, but would you happen to know if the skate wheel upgrade can be done on a 1535 as well?

    • @theishkid
      @theishkid  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure... on the 10 you can pop out the small wheel sections and pop the pin out. I don't think the 35 has the little wheel sections and I'm not sure what happens when you take that larger back plate off.

  • @DARKMETAL31

    Hi Brad does ur Pelican still alive Up to today 30 may 2019? do you still recommend it?

    • @theishkid
      @theishkid  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes sir it still holds up and looks great. Couple of tiny scuffs from all the trips I've taken but it still looks and works fantastic. I've only changed my trek pak layout a couple of times since this video, that's been my only change.
      I would tell you to consider the 1535 as well now... I think they addressed a couple of my major concerns I had when I did a comparison a couple years ago. They also offer it in other colors than black which I'm a big fan of. I can tell you shaving off a little bit of weight would be a pretty nice bonus but I think they need to reduce the price a little... the 35's are about 40 dollars more expensive for the no foam option which doesn't make a lot of sense to me. It's basically using less plastic but cost more.

  • @enice128
    @enice128 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Brad as a photographer myself i'm looking to change up my current Lowepro backpack into this 1510LFC. The main reason being that my gear has gotten out of whack over time i believe to my lenses & bodies shifting within the similar inserts that r in this Pelican. Just curious why u didn't opt for the foam inserts that u can pick out to fit all ur accessories nice & tight rather than these sleeves or compartments? And do u think the foam would actually be more protective??? Thanks in advance!

    • @theishkid
      @theishkid  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I struggled with this as well. I had a 1610 pelican with foam for my old camera and while I could cut each piece of gear out of the foam... it left no room for upgrading or adding more gear. With the foam, if you space your gear out perfectly then buy a lens there's no where to put it. In my opinion, with the foam, if you are carrying anything that has some weight to it... you need to leave at least 3 rows of pick and plucks in between heavy items. For small lighter items that won't put stress on the foam you still need to leave at least two as you could accidentally tear the foam and degrade it if you only left one piece in between items. So with the foam not only are you limited to whatever your original decision was of how to cut the pieces out... but it also takes up a lot of space.
      I will say that I was worried when I originally purchased the Trekpak system that it wouldn't be enough protection for my gear. But honestly after taking three or four trips now including 4 flights, 3 hotel rooms, a rough rocky road, and multiple car/taxi rides the Trekpak system has been awesome. The ONLY draw back for me has been the cost of the trekpak system. I just bought a new lens and I'm reconfiguring my case as we speak. I didn't have to start completely over, but I don't have anymore large pieces so I had to buy an extra piece that is another 20 or 30 bucks on top of what I already paid for the system. But it beats paying 30 - 40 bucks for new foam inserts then having to recut every single component that is in your case.

    • @enice128
      @enice128 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Brad. The more & more i watch videos & think about it I'm gonna go with the padded compartments as my current backpack has. I think the hard Pelican case will be an upgrade to the obvious soft backpack which is how I believe my lenses & body were shifting into each other damaging the internal auto focus.... if that makes any sense! Now it's simply a question of going w the standard velcro or the Trek Pak ones? I honestly don't mind the velcro but I guess the flexibility of them is not as good as the Trek Pak sturdier ones???

    • @theishkid
      @theishkid  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The TrekPak has definitely been far more sturdy than I thought they would be. With just enough give that I feel like my gear is being protected.
      I can't say anything about the velcro pads that pelican uses but I'm sure they are top quality. I've only used velcro pads on a different cheaper case a long time ago and wasn't as much of a fan. My whole system would just kind of sag around and it took up a lot of space. If you aren't putting in a ton of gear the velcro would probably be fine. If you're looking for the most protection while still being able to get a lot of gear in the case... you can be pretty confident with the TrekPak.

      I have both protector and air cases; one being tougher than the other is psychological. However the Aircase does cost more so that is what you have to consider. If weight isn’t an issue than I would buy the Protector every day of the week. However if weight is an issue, than the Aircase is the way to go.
