About Trailmakers:
In the toughest motoring expedition in the universe, you and your friends will build your own vehicles to cross a dangerous wasteland. Explore, crash horribly, use your wits to build a better rig, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find on your way.
Welcome to the Ultimate Expedition!
Journey over grueling mountains, hazardous swamps, and bone-dry deserts on a distant world far from civilization - it is just you, your fellow adventurers and the amazing, jet-powered hover-buggy you built yourself. Explore, crash your vehicle, build a better one, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find along your way.
Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

Yzuei's obessession with recreating real life vehicles is what holds him back a majority of the time.
That's very true
And angled wings which actually reduces his lift
form over function 😂
Never ending form vs function😂
Scrap: builds the ultimate kite
Yzuei: builds realistic, form-focused glider
I don't mind it, though. It seems to be inspiring Scrap.
Seeing you do these gliders made me think: Glider dog fights. Install logic that locks out weapons when you press your throttle and for 5-10 seconds after releasing it, so you CAN use power to regain height, but you can't fight unless you are glide only.
That would actually be a pretty exciting battle to watch, hope he does it soon
They did glider dogfights, not exactly like this but it was definitely glider dogfights
@@ThePhonax Wow... Not only are you right, from the play bar I apparently watched it? But even seeing the thumbnail, I have NO memory of this.
Lucky me I guess? 2 "new" vids in one day? LOL
@@Nevir202 lmao, happens sometimes. Maybe at some point it autoplayed when you were away from your device or something
@@ThePhonax LOL I just finished watching (2x playback speed) and I think I DID watch it before.
Though, all throughout all that felt familiar was the big blimp they made to float all the way up there. I can remember wondering why they didn't build a big rocket to get up there faster lol
This glider competition reminds me of Kerbal Space Program.
It was hilarious, in that, however physics were calculated, if you made an optimized glider, you literally couldn't land unless you just took hands off controls and let it crash. Manipulating your control surfaces created a reaction force which was greater than the losses to air resistance.
So, just trying to flair to land would keep you from ever reaching the ground, or you could waggle the rudder and basically "swim" up into the sky.
I love how every scrapman viewer sounds like a scientist.
Ah. The good old Infiniglider glitch. It was patched a while back but there are still some cool aero exploits where you can basically trick the whole ship into thinking it’s inside a cargo bay and not calculating drag for most of the parts.
Modern KSP’s aero model is pretty good during normal/intended gameplay, but it can fall apart if you start doing stupid things with it lmao
Does KSP not allow for programmable flaps? You can build extremely efficient fliers in Trailmakers, but for a lot of builds, at least in my experience, flaps are really helpful to maintain constant lift, and simply turning them off will put you on the ground.
@@RamadaArtist Not sure what you mean, sorry
@@RamadaArtist it does have flaps, but due to ksp physics they do not provide more lift, just makes your plane pitch up/down (in my experience)
Another cool glider idea would be to use the same glider, but build different launchers to see who can get farther.
or a build your own launcher with the a base glider
Partnering with Yuzei for the Trailmaker stuff was definitely a great idea. He is awesome and you guys together are great to watch and make it so much more fun since you have such different approaches.
Form vs function
Idea: reverse evolution. You all need to change and play with the worst vehicle of the previous round.
That's already on the channel
@@lees4416But more episodes of it wouldn’t hurt. I think they just mean to ask for more of it.
As some people have said, we need a glider dogfight vid maybe the gliders can use engines to gain speed on the ground and then take off and fly in the air, only able to gain speed on the ground
they did some videos similar to this already
They already already did a glider dogfight video where they ballooned themselves to the top of the skybox, released, and fought to the death before hitting the ground. That aside, I think the most common concept of a glider people have (or at least what I think of) is either a paraglider or the old WWII troop and equipment transport gliders that were towed behind DC3 Douglas's. Even then, I don't think ground acceleration would do much in terms of gliding potential. They've done something a kin to that kind of concept before though in their submarine glider fight. They went to the Sea map and had it so that they were fighting in the waves and wind and they could only attack if they were out of the water, but they could only accelerate and propel themselves up and out if they went underwater.
Got a game for you! I feel this would be a good 3-4 player game, called "Sabotaged Evolution."
Game starts as normal for evolution... Except... right after showcasing, everyone swaps vehicles to thwart their opponent. Options are:
Add or remove one power core (swapping engine/thruster for weaker version perhaps?)
Changing control settings (increase/decreasing angles maybe?)
Adding weight blocks.
Thirty seconds to make these changes.
Play the game normal for Evolution. Winner gives their vehicle to everyone.
Add blocks/power cores as appropriate for the particular Evolution challenge.
Trade vehicles with a different opponent, sabotage again. Play on.
One minute to evolve, you have to try and diagnose the sabotage and fix it, or overcome the issues. You can redo a lot of your older Evolution content adding this twist.
So its kind of a cheat in this setup to have lots of weight. The catapult will get you up to a specific speed regardless of weight, rather than the drop off from the same hight. This means the greater weight is fully converted into momentum and hight to start.
I really dont understand Yuzi way of though.
CLEARLY more wings equals more distance, we can see that after the first round and its kind of obwious but he focus on veritical drag? What?
I think it comes down to something my robotics teacher liked to talk about a lot, "stinker tinkering"
as a creator, it's really easy to focus on optimizing the small details of your existing design than it is to see the big picture, even if that big picture shows some sort of clear, obvious change that you should be making. It's just too easy to get attached to a design you already made
@@adicsbtw while that is definitely true, but at the same time if the current build works no where near good enough then either major redesigning needs to happen or a completely new build.
Yuzi get super attached to the build looking good to the point where they just refuse to add stuff that doesnt look good where scrap jsut sorta makes a thing that works well and paints a little over it to make it look ok
He focused on the minutia over the issue. He saw that his instability was a bigger issue than the actual performance when in reality he needed a 20:80 split in the attention there. As in 20% of his attention needed to be in his controllability and 80% needed to go to his over all performance. I don't know if Yzuei has much experience with long distance gliders (as he usually builds for aesthetics and replication.)
Scrapman's just had enough experimentation experience to know there's a decent balance that needs to be met to appease Trailmakers physics. Yzuei is going off of what IRL physics would dictate. Lighter vehicle means your lift gets you further. It's ironic that their approaches are dynamically opposite of each other. Scrapman builds a super functional thing and slaps some kind of paint on it and Yzuei makes a nearly perfect replica of something and then tries to mash in bare minimum functionality where he can. It doesn't matter that those wings on his replica F-22 don't actually create any lift, he's going to use thrust and gyros to yeet it into the skies regardless of what the physics say.
Yzuei
Now build a plane that can pull the glider, detach from it mid air and then try to land on it or smth else...
Ultralights: using 1 or 2 propellers (the smallest ones) and only sails for lift. Can use tailfins for stability, but no gyros whatsoever.
you should bring Buster the dummy back we miss him
hell ya!
BUSTER IS THE BEST DUMMY EVER!!!!!!
and delayed annialaton
Who ever stole the hank has the buster too... things are getting too sus... ಠ_ಠ
Love messing w/ gravity, thers some really fun stuff you can do by tweaking numbers!
Scrap: spends half of the build time experimenting on random things
also Scrap: casually doubles Yzuei's glide distance at 1G
Dihedral only really helps with roll stability as far as I'm aware. I'm not an expert, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that dihedral reduces lift and increases drag, but also increases roll stability, as if you're not level, the wing that dipped down now has a higher angle of attack relative to the opposing wing, creating a slight natural roll force back towards level flight
I like the "modify between rounds" thing.
Do heli fights with high gravity
Do quadcopter fights with high gravity
9:14 can't believe Yumi knows what type of kite that is.
I would recommend detachable weights. Be as heavy as you want to be until you reach peak altitude, then drop the weights. Use gyros to maneuver yourself around in the air if you don't have enough headwind for standard control surfaces.
Do this with the old glider olympics challenges where you had to make up and do challenges
Day 3 of this video idea. Make a machine/canon in space bound trail makers that shoots out the player/detached seat into the void of space to see how fast you go
I think the heavy design is objectively a better idea since the catapult always provides the same acceleration upwards. If you have more mass, then that gives you A LOT more potential energy and the drag will affect you less relative to your mass
Yzuei's function actually reduces the lift because it decreases the surface area are at which wings generate lift
Catapult has infinite energy and inserts more energy into more massive objects.
your glider is as heavy as my jets XD
You should test if wing wash works in trailmakers
this video was really just function vs form
Yzuei made a small plane/glider that only works in regular gravity or lower gravity while scrap man made a kite shaped glider that can handle different gravity conditions high/low to speak off due to a big plane+wing design.
that water landing at 5:47 was pretty satisfying
I've exoerienced the "too lightweight" thing a lot when making paperplanes. If you want them to go further, you gotta have that small bit of weight.
Bro cooked with that Glider.
Day 324 of asking scrapman to battle with flying tanks
almost a year mate
Too difficult
@fredrickbambino he already did that with arieal hover crafts theres a vid you can take a look
Almost one year keep on going ma boi
Try to explain more clearly because Scrapman can't figure out what to do
intermittent power battle. only "drive" or "power" the vehicle has is the Raw Rocket engine that will need to recharge. It will add a new difficulty to dodging and aiming, and add some unpredictability to your opponents.
from just watching, it looks almost like scrapmans glider was unaffected by the gravity changes. so effortless :D
Yzuei made an asthetic build, Scrapman went for functionality over form. I can respect both approaches.
Day 189 of asking scrapman to test how fast emp is in trailmakers
maybe you can try who can make the best monster truck and climb over hills or rocky something in 0.5 1 1.5 2g also
R.I.P Yuzei
24:00 is that Jort storm? Great song.
You're a natural on camera, keep shining!
Irl more gravity would give more air dencity so the aero would be eaqulised?
when the wings are in a slight v shape it helps with roll stability
I love how scrapman casually doubled yuzis score
Idea: dogfight on a plane that can go underwater like a submersible and every 1 minute you have to go from air to underwater and underwater to air
I think they did it in the high seas update it was like a flying fish where you can only shoot mid air.
Day 2 of asking scrapman to do an evolution race with his friends on the new racing island
You might as well use the cooler and more aerodynamic jet cockpit if you're gonna add extra weight anyway~
My new record !! 14 minutes after upload...nice, your videos is always good !! Thanks for all of your videos
I think it would be really funny if you created a vehicle for a video like this with multiple different gravity settings, and just made a vehicle with detachable weight blocks so technically they're all part of the creation but depending on the gravity you can just detach some of them. for fun :)
You should do this challenge but instead of planes do a vehicle that is like one of those helicopter seeds. It should slow your fall and then you could lean to manoeuvre.
Perhapskis is no longer a thing 😢
Why do I watch these I am not even thinking of buying the games you play on this channel
I will keep watching
Im so happy for a new video 🎉🎉 thx for this masterpiece
hey scrapman I have idea do space race where the big ship is the starter then when you at the close planet just go around it do 1 lap per planet then the finish line is the starter
rules:
1. 15 power core
2. 150 blocks
I have a fun idea for your next challenge with yzui. You have to build an all terrain vehicle. The challenge is you launch of the catapult and have to glide to the loop de loop then drive into the water and float your way to the snow island then you have to do a vertical climb up the snow islands wall
Is it just me or did Yzuei's wing disepear for a sec at 21:04
Yzuei makes a plane into a glider and Scrapman Builds a Flying Manta Ray
Helping Fredrick get his flying tank battles
I loved when you were using metric lol
for the weights wouldn't making them detachable make sense so you can detach them after launch on higher gravities
The title made me think G-Force. You should do a challenge to see who can make a plane to pull the most sustained G's without gyros
VIDEO IDEA: 4 players go on teams of two and one one person from each team has to build a very under powered car then their teammates have to build a kinda fast car to go behind their teammates while the two under powered cars race and help their teammates by using detachable blocks by anchoring rockets to the back of their car 2 or 1 at a time and they keep repeating until one team wins then they could swap out
This channel might as well be renamed Scrapman and friends with the amount of multiplayer vids you upload a week
Hi
@@Theinfamousplayer weirdo
i just realised i've been watching your video for 6+ years
Scrapman completely dominated this. Yuzei's glider was just too small to perform in this case.
Christ scrapman, 6 am on the dot
4am here lol.
1pm here
7 for me
@@spoofmotionstudiosSame🥲
21:00 AEST for me
I have an idea for a video, who can build the best actively guided autonomous missile, meaning a fire and forget weapon, to take each other or a moving target down, best of luck comrad
You should try to use the catapults to launch some sort of vehicle that a plane has to catch
G-ez yuzi you need to build a functional vehicle at some point 😅
Yes the g was pun intended 😂
You guys should do the same thing but with planes and battle
Would attching that last weight block via a detavhable poiny have helped at all to get rid of it for the last roind? Only am at the show off stage. But was a thought i had wen he said he was worried about the weight hurting him on the last 2 stages
I'm not even half way through the video but this was my exact though when he was building his glider & had to quickly check if someone else had the same idea.
The catapult doesnt provide energy. It gives speed, disregarding mass, that is why you want mass. To get more energy from the catapult. Its not a real glider challenge for that reason. If it was a real one, being super light would have been optimal. And you would want to reduce your drag to minimum too. That is why IRL they use thin and long wings, they have lots of lift and barely any drag in slow speeds
use block separators to hold weights so heaver gravity so you can drop some weights.
Day 1 of asking for glider evolution on different gtavity
You should make a catapult challenge where you both have the same gliders but you have to build your own catapult
Trim would be great for a situation like this where no controller is accessible. Smallest control surface changes possible.
Also, being worried about being overpowered in a challenge is like being worried about having too much health, or winning too much.
Limited trust challenge in space who can get to 2 set planets longest apart preferably same thrust race or speed challenges
Kinda skill and luck base cause asteroids.
(multi player Monday possibly?)
U could have added detachable weights (if its allowed) so it would be easier in 1.5G and 2G
6:13 i hear some mark rober music there
Yzuei doing literally anything he can to avoid adding more lift
Surfing/skimming water battle, inspired by your glider skimming the waves.
Glider vdos are the best.🎉
Scrapman! Does real life physics apply? Try extending your wings but thinner like real life gliders? Open for opinions
You should do a dog fight where you have a weight limit instead of a power core or block limit
Scrapman basically built a flying pancake glider
Scrapman never fails to milk Manscrap
Make the weights detachable so you can drop them after launch
Its always creative/realistic vs slap everything on even the kitchen sink
New Video Time! A very nice idea!
Jet fighters vs nuke
Jet fighters: 350 build limit, 20 power cores
Nuke: max power cores, max build limit
Jet fighters:no rocket, lasers, or gyro
Nuke: mostly speed, 2 layers of armor to protect the explosives, no energy shield, make it long, 12 mini guns
Could you create an overpowered SR71 but make the engines/thrusters control the pitch, I thing it would be a really interesting idea that you Yzuei and the others could work with
I wonder why Yzuei didn't add a gyro stabilizer to fix the yaw issue
Battle idea going off of the guided missile video you could have one missile player and the other 2 will be in the plane one flys and the other is a gunner
101 IQ move: put weights on detachable blocks so you can alter your weight from round to round.
12:30 I think the gravity indicator is broken cuz It does that for me
Why not have detachable waits? As to adjust to the amount of G's
Scrapman made a magic carpet.
Build the B-2 spirit bomber
2-4 person evolution glider on with a challenge to it like a track
try to break the soud barrier only using the catapult as the only source off power.
