It would be cool to see a go-kart build, using the seat of course, that behaves (functionally and maybe even visually) like the go-karts in Mario Kart.
To me, it kind of feels that propellers WANT to go first. If I put any on the rear of my vehicle it tends to spin out very easily. With 6 power cores I feel it is more useful to have 2 small propellers at front and one at rear to solve the spinning issue.
That's to be expected with propulsion, it's one of the reasons why rear-wheel drive cars in the real world are generally more prone to spinning out than ones with front-wheel drive A simple way to think about it is if you lay a stick on the ground and try to push it from the rear end with your finger, you can probably keep it moving in a fairly straight line, but the friction from the front will always be fighting against you and trying to turn the stick to one side or the other. Conversely, if you drag the stick from the front end, it'll always follow the correct path because the friction is now behind the driving force This is partly why weight distribution and aerodynamics are so important, they help keep a moving vehicle stable rather than letting it spin around any which way
@@Loop_Kat Valid points, but in Trailmakers propellers try rotate them on front of the movement direction even NOT accelerating. Just putting propeller on rear want's to spin your vehicle even if it would be not assigned to any buttons.
@@IrnFox Helicopter engines apply rotational energy in Trailmakers, but propellers do not. The only reason an unpowered, rear-mounted propeller can cause a vehicle to spin out is because the small propeller weighs 12.5kg and the large propeller weighs 25kg, so all that extra weight gets thrown around really easily during a turn. To prove this, I just ran a test with an unpowered propeller on the back of a race car and the exact same spin out behavior happens when it's replaced with a 30kg weight, so it's a weight distribution issue, not a propeller issue
I just figured out the trick with the bank, no matter what kind of propulsion you've got, you need to coast on to the bank and then ease on accelleration after you've started the turn. Massive downforce doesn't really help because the start of the bank is fairly abrupt so if you're pressed too hard into the ground something will crash into the ground and send you flying into oblivion. If you enter the bank while accelerating the front wheels will have heavy loading and grip at first causing oversteer and then as you try to correct the springs will decomress leaving you with almost no front grip continuing the spin uncontrollably. By releasing the acceleration just before entering the ramp you reduce the load on the tires reducing the oversteer and once you have a controlled turn you can start to acellerate again to maintain the downforce. Alternatively you could aim your car parallell and close to the outer wall and try to avoid turning at all while entering the ramp, and grind against the wall to turn. But you still need to let off the throttle a bit otherwise you'll probably crash into the terrain where the ramp starts. I just managed to finish the race with a conventional muscle league car, bionic propeller car and for the first time I managed to get a one power core UFO engine to be, not exactly easy to control but controllable enough to be able to finish with some luck. And with the UFO engine which have inherent massive downforce I found that the wall grinding strategy was most successful, while the more fragile bionic propeller had to coast through most of the bank. With a really slow conventional powered car you could probably be able to keep some throttle through the whole bank, but with super fast cars it's too bumpy which randomly loads the wheels too much under high speed so you save more time by coasting than trying to fight the inconsistent turning.
Btw, after finally making a somewhat useable UFO engine; I do not consider it cheating at all. Sure the mechanism is glitchy but that just makes it super difficult to control. Bionic propellers (which use somewhat plausible though extreme aerodynamics to work) is way easier to control, and those are not easy to control either.
Scrapman, if you can make only 1 side of thrust turn on when turning round a corner, then your vehicle should have way better turning without the need for gyro turning, also it might have way better consistent turning speed without having to slow down as much. You will have to let go off your standard forward button when going round corners which will be a bit weird at first, but ultimately you should get faster times by far once you get used to the weird keys. Hope this helps :)

Can you double up the wheels (width wise) and maybe mix them with street and offroad? The unicycle can use gyros and still be able to handle the ramps. It is actually a pretty good design. Most of your thrust is going to be space thruster and you can still have suspension and using the wings like you have for lift control would be perfect.
The vertical stabilizers prevent turning in evolution stage 3. The center of mass and center of down force should be shifted forward. It makes turning easier but you might spin out. Nvm. Forgot what i said. It only applies to the first evolutions. After you added the jet engines i wasn't able to understand how it still stayed on track. Great vid btw
I’d recommend keeping ur vehicle to 2 blocks wide, and maximum height of like 5 blocks as your aerodynamic profile will be slimmer. Also abuse gyro turning with the slim wheels as you can drift faster round corners. Thruster power is also better as things like the large prop or space thrusters have lots of power and a very small hit box
I think the reason you where sliding with the second gen vehicle is because the propellers was making the car go faster but the wheels where going slower
Tip for you Use wheels sides touching ground and use stabilizers with wings and boosters No engines needed The wheels under your mechine sideways wont take fall damage if you put suspention between the wheel and the body
If it helps, The optimal point for your center of mass is just a little behind dead center. I got that from a video made in the 1950s. Dang they still right :D
I’m curious if the car’s front and rear axels can rotate slightly against each other to improve your effective suspension. Watching your cornering (as well as a similar car racing in this area), these 4 wheel designs are failing to keep all 4 wheels nicely glued to the extreme banks. Why not have a more flexible 4 wheeled car. Otherwise it is worthwhile to explore 2 and 3 wheel designs.
I think using downforce on the bank doesn't seem to be a good idea because it turns inwards, which already creates something similar to downforce, by using extra downforce on the bank you put more pressure into the steering which may be what makes it have chunky turning and steer out.

If it helps, The optimal point for your center of mass is just a little behind dead center. I got that from a video made in the 1950s. Dang they still right :D
not adjusting the stiffness/dampening of the suspension will have an effect on controllability as well
I’m curious if the car’s front and rear axels can rotate slightly against each other to improve your effective suspension.
Do you guys think scrapman ever gets dislikes(for real reasons) because who would dislike a video like this for an actual real reason, his videos are just someone having fun in games
Probably on a lot of his boat videos. Some of those are rough to watch if you know even the most basic things about how boats work.
You could possibly improve your racing lines to maintain more speed. I recommend taking tighter apex's and riding the banks higher.
Imagine flying in a driving race
Could it be possible to travel faster if you created a slingshot platform that propels you at start.
Feels more and more that the devs actually need to play their game and add maps and blocks that we actually need and want... Please we need a city map with good tarmac roads, road signs, street lamps etc and updated wedges and attachment points on blocks, MORE WEDGES - BETTER/MORE ATTACHMENT POINTS PLEASEEEE!!!
Every one is literally just flying
Scrap man: we use wheels!
It funky how the upper places just fly for the most time and touch the ground once in a while to avoid getting kicked out and scrapman just wants to stay full on true to the purpose of the game which is staying on the ground for the most part 🙈
These daily videos scrap!!! Can never get enough bro
ScrapMan is the Ironman/Tony Stark of Scrap Mechanic!
Nah he’s spiderman everyone who plays scrap mechanic/watches that content knows him
Scrapman do you have your upload set for a certain time or do you actually get up early and upload the videos?
You need to check spoilers
I'm pretty sure the don't give downforce mounted on top of blocks ... there needs to be an airgap at the bottom for it to provide downforce
You should try and add a toggleable distance sensor to activate your downforce (the idea is to maybe act like active aero on an actual race car
Scrap forget doing the bank. You should make a prop car that you put dingy pieces on so you can skip the bank. No glitches used.
Also with the banked turn you need to smooth out your steering. Honestly it just feels like the physics of trail makers doesn't like the angled turn.
Also scrap why aren't you using space thrusters? You already know how little of those you need to even break the sound barrier.
To dampen a landing decrease the stiffness instead of increase.. this will change the handling of the vehicle tho.
Congrats for getting that high while using the only "Clean" Land Vehicle.
1:49 Does enyone know why Scrapman think the proppeler is better than the actual dragon JET?
For downforce try an upside down wing. Seems better than a spoiler.
finnaly after all this time the old builing/weird moments sound is back! :D
Scrapman totaly ignoring the people in the top 4 flying
You should play some racing games to understand how fast cars work with steering
Perhapskis you should do an episode exploring glitches and after, Perhapskis make a video about trying to get on the leaderboard in bionic league with the glitches you explored in the other episode.
lolol "I think the racing wheels will be the best, I don't think we'll be going off-road on this one." Then it _immediately_ goes off-road, stays offroad for fully half of each lap... and he keeps the racing wheels on the second evolution. 😆
Edit: And third evolution... 😑
Edit: Aw, man, he figured it out! I was gonna do a whole bit with the gradually degrading smilies. Ah well. xD
Edit: Ooh, no he didn't! He just did the fronts! Oh this should be amusing...
That bump entering the cave gave me so much trouble..
These are very entertaining but, could you do it with kan and the others?
You need to use controller for driving, that way you can have smooth turning/finer control rather than sudden 0 to 100% key presses
24:19 watching people using glitches and literally flying through car circut grinds my gear, what a scummy tactic...
Deattachable blocks, hover pads and perhaps every thrusters should be disabled for the land based circuts.
For next mpm make a spleef map of two intersecting Mobius strips and have the guns alternate on and off(or could have multiple guns with different timing so you don't know where you're gonna be shooting)
He should just use a wider wheelbase
A 1% increase is 3 places if you are in the 85th percentile at 45. Also it was out of 300 people when you did it
If u have a hover block with a shield on the bottom u can hover high in the air so maybe u can have a mid air battle with that
you and kan and kosmo should do remote controlled splief
Day 184 of asking scrapman to test how fast emp is in trailmakers
Whenever it comes to the banks, consider staying on the outside of the turn.
Still very satisfying, top 2% is no joke!
When your direct competitors are using flyers with known exploits in a land race and should be DQ'd, you're already in the top 1%
Your videos are a breath of fresh air, always enjoy watching
55 min and only 5k views??? scrap is falling off!! (i love your content)
can you do a three in one vehicle race against the other guys on the new races on this island? like one vehicle that can do a land sea and sky race?
Spoilers dont work when there is a block beneath them, you can see by the centre of forces that only your front spoiler was working on your first build
I'm curious if dragging a limp power coupler on the ground would keep you from being booted from the race as a plane.
Oh man, it would totally work, I'm sure.
As soon as it hits a bump though, I reckon it'd do the... power coupler thing...?
Oh! But they take a power core, don't they?
There's a significant limiting factor there.
@@Broroboros I don't think they take power cores but I could be mistaken. Also have no idea how they'd act, I've never seen them used as a tail before.
Its so wierd to have Trackmania brain activated from Trailmakers content.
5 seconds is a lot 😂
Should’ve done the instant acceleration trick with your thrusters
Try it with 5 power cores max, I think it's more interesting with more limitations!
