Such a cool story Richard, I know the F40 is mostly every petrolheads dream, but for me this era of rally car is where it’s at.
I remember seeing the Martini Lancias in the Lombard RAC Rally and being hooked . I've been lucky to own a HF Turbo an 8v Integrale and an Evo 1 Integrale . I bought my Evo in 2000 , it had just come into Britain from Turin and I paid £10500 for it and nobody knew what it was , they thought it was just a Delta😂😂 . I kept it until 2009 when unfortunately redundancy forced its sale for £5000 😢 . They really are a fantastic car , so easy to drive fast , even I can be Miki Biasion 😂😂 , don't ever sell them .
Friend had an HT turbo, torque steered all over the place, it was properly good fun though

At the start you said you had a HF Turbo
So did my mate it wa a 1:6 Turbo front wheel drive
I had a Alfa Romeo 33 1750 on carbs
We had so much fun and a very similar age to you.
That group a spec rally car is my Dream car all day long. If I won the lottery that car is no2 no 1 is the Delta s4 from group B.
I hope to see you and this car at your Bewl water meet and please definitely take it to Heaver castle as my son and I will be going to that to.

I could have had an Evo1 around 15 years ago for i think around £8k. It was a little rough so i got an EP3 Type-R.
Looking back it would have been a good investment.
Would have cost you a lot of money in maintenance to get it mint and keep it mint

I was going to buy £10000 bit coin at £230 a coin in 2011 but couldn’t work out the wallet to buy them

It was bit of both and ran in 1994 Portugal 🇵🇹 Rally
