I’m so excited for your big news! My husband and I were foster parents for years before we took guardianship of our third daughter. I wanted to write because I know you guys have only 1 set of sheets per person. Bed wetting is extremely common with foster children . I wanted to put the bug in your ear that you may want to consider having one extra set just for that bed. You could easily wash the bed sheets as you do your bio kids...but foster kids come with so much trauma it is always nice to kook for ways to ease the transition. I hope this makes sense...I haven’t yet had a full cup of coffee. Best of luck to you and your family!!!
Yes, great tip. And put a soft, non-crinkly waterproof mattress pad on that bed with a backup pad ready to go, too - for easy middle-of-the night bed changes.
Jennifer Geck - I would also use mattress and pillow protectors in addition to an extra set of sheets and pillow cases. I worked night shift in a home for emotionally disturbed children and learned that extra bedding sets were a definite must.
I know it's "extra" but I like to double up so it's easy to just pull off the first two layers. Does that make sense. So put down mattress protector, fitted, ANOTHER mattress protector, ANOTHER fitted. Because in the middle of the night it's just easy to take off the first two layers and get them back to bed quickly. Hope this makes sense.
This is the most relatable content I’ve seen on YT. I feel like I’m in the kitchen with you having a chat with a friend. Thanks for being so real and genuine.
Dawn, I’m so excited that you & Tom received a phone call. Praying for you and your whole family this week. Diana, even though you say you are tired you always look refreshed and beautiful to me. You both are beautiful and that’s because God shines through you both!! Thank you the message and enjoy that delicious Bundt cake!
I like to smile at everyone I meet too! I still smile at others (while wearing my mask), but I also give a little wave. I love seeing the other person’s eyes twinkle, and most of the time, I will receive a wave back!!!
So, I'm a little late to the decluttering scene, but better late than never right? I have to thank you for your continued support, motivation and encouragement to get my rear in gear and part with things that no longer serve me. Having relocated many times after getting married, trading in a career in teaching and switching to writing curriculum, winding up with "the leftovers" from two kids graduating from college and moving to several apartments, and receiving items from family members that passed on, my house was bursting at the seams! The good news is I am currently starting to peel the first layer of the onion back and boy does it feel good! Oh sure, sometimes the onion makes my eyes water when I'm dealing with something that is sentimental or that takes me back to the days when my kids were young, but I quickly snap out of it when I am reminded of how freeing the process is and how much stress has been lifted off of me. When I feel myself losing momentum, I slap on one of your videos and sure enough it puts me right back on track and I am ready to concur another task. While trying to reclaim my house, I have also been trying to delve into some scripture reading. Lord knows, in this crazy world that we live in right now we all need strength from up above. I have been trying to get in the habit of "Giving it to God". One of your latest videos really reinforced the fact that we can't handle everything on our own and that God wouldn't want it that way even if we could. It was the perfect message for me at the perfect time. Thanks for being you, your sister for her thoughts and you both for sharing your inspirational messages. You guys are making a difference!!!
I’m an identical twin as well and both my sister and I are homeschooling special needs sons. We depend on Christ daily. Love watching you two. You bless me.
This is what I needed to hear. You ladies made me laugh, thank you! I have the same feeling of not being able to smile. Each day I try my best to greet each person I come contact. We have to kinder to each other in these challenging times.
Love the thought, we are loved by God and He is giving us a hug and is not like, "it is about time you noticed me again". It is a game changer to feel loved and then to pass on that love to others. Love your channel. It truly has helped me on my minimalism journey.
I have always tried to not collect, my mom has always done this, not sure if its from the war days or depression years. But I still have stuff and the local thrift store keeps seeing me coming in the last month of watching your videos. What else is there to do with covid. My adult kids keep laughing whenever they come to visit, wondering where some of our cabinets have gone and all the stuff that was in it. I even had all the pic packages from the kids, picture days at school, now waiting to get shredded. What a great feeling it brings, even got our 5 yrs. old granddaughter doing it. Thank you, will keep watching.
Thank you Dawn and Diana for simplifying our Sunday morning with the Lord, reminding us to "settle" in God's arms and encouraging us to love the widow and orphans. Have a great week.
I absolutely love all your videos and always feel a sense of renewal on Sundays with your spiritual videos as well. In these times I'm reminded to stay focused and possitive and know I am loved. Thank you for your insight and inspiration.
I watched this video at 8am. I asked for a Bundt pan on the Pay it Forward site. Made a cake by 5:00! So easy! I forget the jello and it still came out perfect! I added maple syrup, cinnamon and sugar glaze yum!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
The “News” is just crazy and does make things sound way worse than it actually is.It’s important for us to do our own research and not just accept what is fed to us. Knowledge is power! We don’t want to become “Hearers ” but become “Doers”!! Blessings ladies
I think it is pretty bad in the big, democratic cities. God help us if liberals win this election because if they do, I think our country will be worse than we could ever imagine.
Well i think things are very bad around the world and it is in some extent useful to know about issues such as systematic racism so you can implement changes in your own life. However constantly fretting over the news can be extremely depressing and bad for our mental health.
Please pray and consider the truth of the biblical seventh day sabbath created in the garden of Eden blessed and honored by Jesus Himself❣️God never changes. Genesis 2:2&3. He reminds us in the fourth commandment. Exodus 20:8-11.
I'm so grateful for you both. You are so gifted and natural teachers. I love every video you make. You make it so easy to get started (again) and motivate me every time I watch! THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!
Jeanne Robertson, a family humorist, said the same thing about smiling and the mask- so she decided to write I am smiling on an index card and shows it to people. If you need some fun, watch her back porch videos. A very sweet lady.
I love Jeanne Soooooo much, when my father passed 2 years ago, her talks and philosophy got me through many hard moments. I'd listen to her in the car when I had 2 much time to think.
I was able to see Jeanne live in February. She really is an absolute Delight and following her recommendations will bring joy to yourself and those around you! If you need a funny story look up the one about her son Beaver sneaking out. Or for some positivity look up her baton story.

“We always think we can manage more inventory than we actually can.” This is so true-we buy one more thing or decide to keep one more thing and think it won’t make a big difference, but it absolutely does! We need to get back to simple.
I have recently been feeling like I need to give EVERYTHING in my life to God . Not just give some things I think I can give , but everything . This has been an encouragement to give my time , future , and be a doer of the word and not just know it.
I am a minister and this video is mine “me time” getting ready to church. Thank you for your ministry. Love you both P. S: So glad that the social worker called 🥰👏🏼
Love each of you! I have "minimalized" our home and I'm 65! It certainly makes cleaning much simpler, and makes me say AHHH.....thank you, both for sharing His word with the world. Blessings to you all.
Thank you for bringing us “Good News” every Sunday amidst all the bad news we are bombarded with daily. You are a breath of fresh air. Thank you and God bless you both and your families which are just beautiful and a joy to watch.
Thank you so much ladies. Hearing about the news of the fostering progress brought tears to my eyes. I know how much you want it Dawn. ❤️ how awesome is it that we can all share in your joy!!!! 🥰🥰🥰
It definitely is the lack of feeling connected with our community that is making it even more depressing. I also like to connect with even complete strangers but everyone is in constant fear that you are about to contaminate them. I have anxiety and suffer with panic attacks and these times are not helping me. I’m trying to let it go and trying to leave it in God’s hands. Also I’m so happy Dawn that you have heard regarding the foster care. We adopted our son 23 years ago and waiting for phone calls was literally like holding our breath. It was the one greatest decision that my husband and I have ever made. He has brought us so much love and joy that we would never have had if we had never gone though with the adoption. When he came into our lives everything that we had been through seemed to make sense. We knew that he was meant to be our son !
I so very much needed to see this video today. Thank you. Dawn, I will be praying for your fostering journey. I enjoy both of you ladies and your families immensely! Great channel.
I just love you ladies!!! I have felt so overwhelmed with my house and have felt that I can't stay on top of it. And it's definitely an inventory problem. So thank you!!! ♥️♥️♥️
I loved your message today! I have looked for the book you mentioned but cannot find it here in Kentucky. I have made that pumpkin bundt cake twice now! Number two cake is in the oven right now. The recipe is going into my collection of family favorites. Thank you for your positive, uplifting, and encouraging videos.
I just threw out my bundt pan last week. It was older and it ALWAYS stuck. I decided to get one for my birthday and make my own cake from one of your recipes...so waiting until November and can't wait to make the pumpkin cake. Happy and blessed Birthday to both of you! James has been one of my favorite books for so many years! I love how he tells you exactly how it is! Thank you for your mission and for sharing it with all of us.
I’m binge watching your videos because your tips are truly helping me declutter. I have been praying for help to do this in order to have a peaceful home environment. I’ve struggled with clutter despite trying hard and devoting energy to minimizing my stuff. Thank you for these beautiful sisters who care for others and pray as well. What encouragers!

My prayers are with y’all on this foster care call!! You all have changed your lives so completely that God can entrust you with HIS precious gift of children! What a blessing you are to so many!!
Love you girls. Thanks for keeping it rich and deep yet basic down and dirty “you can do it!” Looking forward to making a pumpkin bundt and simplifying some more. You have the gift of encouragement which is so needed right now. May the Lord continue to bless your ministry. 💜
Thank you so much for making me feel like I am your neighbor, and able to pop in and visit with you in your kitchen. I can SMELL that pumpkin spice cake in the oven!
You both rock, and you're amazing! How sweet to do a give a away too... bonus! Thanks Diana for the scripture readings each week, there for fitting for the times right now. Dawn you & Tom will be awesome foster parents! Blessings to all.
A friend of mine gave me a recipe for pumpkin cookies. One can of pumpkin ,2 eggs, one spice cake mix. Mix that together and if you want to add milk chocolate chips. Bake 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. They are yummy.
I'm always so blessed by your videos. Thank you! Everything does feel so hard right now and it was good to hear the reminders of God's love..."like a hug" and not a scolding... So, so good! And congratulations on the phone call! I'm so looking forward to being able to watch this journey, if we can. God bless you ladies and your families! 🙏🤗
Seasons of life....yes. I am experiencing that now....sadly, I waited so long, the task seemed daunting. But, it certainly feels good with every donation haul I make....on several levels.😊. You ladies are spot on❣️. I always look forward to the prayer at the end.🙏. Also, started the book last week.🥰
Thank you again! How much I needed that encouragement from James and to hear some other voices outside of my family acknowledging the difficulties in our country that I am struggling with in a hopeful way. You are both the best!
You two are the best :-) This was the perfect companion to my Sunday morning coffee! Good challenge and good encouragement :-) I'm also a fan of James - so full of wisdom! Diana, I'm praying for your sleep and Dawn, I'm praying for your foster care journey.
I've been watching your channel for quite a while now and the managing of inventory really hit me it made so much sense to me. Now when I look at things I just think do I really want to manage this or that!! It has helped me to not just go shopping or to remind myself I don't need something just to find a purpose for it, I hope that makes sense. Love seeing the both of you Sundays!
Diana was spot on with about serving and about getting back to the old normal. It's been Heavy heavy on me. I'm glad i found you on here. I've been setting the clutter outside for people that may need it in the community. It's made it easier to get rid of thing's. I don't mind donating but it's easier for some reason knowing it's going straight to the person that needs it and they don't have to pay a middle man. I've noticed more and more people just levering bins out with stuff. Just asking for them to leave the bin so they can refill. With more stuff. *happy birthday! In November my daughter will be one and my son will turn 9. I grew up making cake only in bunt pans. I need to go back to that. With 5 kids the store bought cake prices are crazy. I'll be switching back to the bunt pan.
I’m looking forward to getting to the point with my clutter that I can more easily keep my house under control. I’m not there yet, but I keep working at it! I also appreciated the reminder to be a “5 minute superhero” because I know those little 5 minute efforts really can make a huge difference!
Dawn, I am soaking in every single upload past and present and it’s changing my life. Thank you! And Sundays with both of you sweet ladies and also sharing your faith, is just such a greater blessing! May you both have a blessed week.💙
This video couldn’t have come at a better time for me, I felt as though you were speaking right to me, I was sitting here late at night couldn’t sleep due to fear and this was so helpful. Thank you so much! So exciting to hear about your fostering journey! God bless you ❤️
It's amazing that even though we've decluttered so many things it seems like we still have too much stuff. Still looking for the right amount for our house. The struggle is real!
You are so right. I found selling and finding the right donation place was time consuming so I just offered things free: to neighbors, guy who cuts my lawn, etc. Felt good to pass on good stuff that wasn't being used anymore.
Your prayers and encouragement have helped me so much to keep things in perspective during these challenging times. Taking steps to declutter my home and to serve others is a wonderful remedy to the loneliness I sometimes feel. May God bless you both and your families
Thanks for the message this morning, Dawn & Diana! That passage in James is a great reminder to continue to seek out opportunities to serve people around us and to strive to be like Jesus. I really enjoy and look forward to your videos. Hoping to read your book recommendation and try your bundt cake recipes soon!
Listening to you both just makes my day almost as lovely as you both! Opening your heart and home to foster care is so wonderful! Thank you for sharing! God bless!
I agree that though we are limited by the amount of time we have in a day, doing a little bit at a time is helpful. Decluttering helps to keep things manageable. Best wishes with fostering and God bless.
Each one of your videos is so encouraging with so much love, I absolutely love the scripture and prayer you’re sharing so gladly, such a blessing. I look forward to every video. Much love 💓
Thanks for this opportunity. I’m planning on moving in the near future, Getting rid of 50% or more of my Possessions. This is a big step for me but I’m ready.
If you're a Christian (or even if you're not), you can look to Zacchaeus as you embark on this journey. One Sunday I made a 50% decrease my goal after I was inspired by learning about him. I was able to thin out my clothing by half, but didn't make it to the rest of my possessions. It was a good start, though. ;)
I made the cake on Friday for a bridal shower on Saturday. It was great, but the Aldi cream cheese frosting didn't do it justice, so I'll definitely do homemade frosting next time, or it was so moist i might just power sugar it to make it pretty. Thanks! So good!
Dawn and Diana, Thank you for reminding us to be doers and not just hearers of Gods word! He is with us and protecting us always! Blessings to you from smoky Oregon! christine
Praying for Dawn and Tom's fostering endeavor, we fostered for several years and God blessed us with our youngest daughter. We got her at 13 and she is now married with 2 babies. I love your channel and feel like we've known your family forever 💕.
I have been watching your videos here and there and have been so appreciative of your transparency and vulnerability. But today, hearing you both speak so openly about your faith, filled my cup. With all that is going on it's hard to stay connected with our sisters of faith. Thank you for being a light in such an uncertain time!
So much to love about this video. My parents fostered kids when I was young and adopted 1, then fostered and adopted 3 more after I had moved out of the house. They gave permanent families to 4 kids that didn't have stable relationships. Our family is far from perfect, but I appreciate my parents casting their net and opening their hearts and home. May God bless Diana and her family and Dawn and her family. Thank you for honoring the Lord!

I love the thought that He is smiling over us and just wants more of our attention. ❤️
I like to smile at everyone I meet too! I still smile at others (while wearing my mask), but I also give a little wave. I love seeing the other person’s eyes twinkle, and most of the time, I will receive a wave back!!!
I would love to "get my life back" spiritually and by decluttering my home. Thank you both for sharing!
Dawn praying over your fostering situation, it’s in His hands and He is in control!
Me too 💕🙏🏻
I thought this said frosting situation and was worried about her bundt cake... 🤦♀️😆
Adding my prayers 🙏
So many things to be thankful for. In this time of uncertainty, we still have a true and faithful Guide 🙏🏼
I’m an identical twin as well and both my sister and I are homeschooling special needs sons. We depend on Christ daily. Love watching you two. You bless me.
Thank you for praying for us, my sisters in Christ! I just recently found your channel and I'm in love!
I need thee every hour. I am in my 60s and caring for my 4 grandchildren. The words to this hymn give me encouragement❤
This is what I needed to hear. You ladies made me laugh, thank you! I have the same feeling of not being able to smile. Each day I try my best to greet each person I come contact. We have to kinder to each other in these challenging times.
Iv been fostering for the last 14 yrs..wow what a journey...congratulations Dawn and Tom..these children need us and our guidance
Love the thought, we are loved by God and He is giving us a hug and is not like, "it is about time you noticed me again". It is a game changer to feel loved and then to pass on that love to others. Love your channel. It truly has helped me on my minimalism journey.
Yes! You say it much better!! ;)
Thank you both for your encouragement.
I love Sunday mornings with you both! I feel like watching just starts me off with a great week! Have a great week!
Thank you so much!! 💕
@@flyingfire908 True. Like the last remnant of systemic racism in our country which Asian-Americans face in the college admissions process.
Good morning, a breath of fresh air to start my day. “Doers of the word”. Thank you
I love how you love each other and enjoy spending time together!!!
Jeanne Robertson, a family humorist, said the same thing about smiling and the mask- so she decided to write I am smiling on an index card and shows it to people. If you need some fun, watch her back porch videos. A very sweet lady.
Love you girls. I listen to you and forward to my girls...You two are so full of wisdom. Thanks for all u do
I love Jeanne Soooooo much, when my father passed 2 years ago, her talks and philosophy got me through many hard moments.
Another awesome post. Can't wait for the next one. Love your attitudes and insights!!!
@@elizabethcarr5226 WE LOVE YOU DAWN, TOM AND DIANA. Thank you ever so much for improving our day to day lives. Invaluable. Also love Jeannie Robertson. When you need another good laugh listen to her TH-cam video of how her husband 'Left Brained' got even with her son 'Beaver' about the one with the Red corvette when her son was away at college and thought he could ge away with something. I know we need more laughter then ever before. I love her I am smiling index card. And the mask someone sent her with plastic so we could see her smile. :-) Share both Dawn's and Jeanne's videos on Facebook. Never know who we can help with a share. :-)
Love you ladies. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and your recipes! As a fellow Minnesota Mom, I find it so easy to relate to you and love that you share your faith regularly. God bless you both!
He is in control, even when it doesn’t feel like it. 💕
I’ve been watching your videos for a few months now and I am SO ENCOURAGED, both in decluttering my home (I have honestly enjoyed and got more out of your TH-cam videos than decluttering programs I have purchased in the past!), as well as in my faith in the Lord - love watching and listening to you guys! Thank you for all you do💕
“We always think we can manage more inventory than we actually can.” This is so true-we buy one more thing or decide to keep one more thing and think it won’t make a big difference, but it absolutely does! We need to get back to simple.
I have recently been feeling like I need to give EVERYTHING in my life to God . Not just give some things I think I can give , but everything . This has been an encouragement to give my time , future , and be a doer of the word and not just know it.
To love God requires a complete surrender to obey and trust Him. You are definitely on the right track!!
@@laineygann7713 your so right ! Thank you so much for sharing that with me , and it’s also nice to know we aren’t alone in this journey ❤️
I am a minister and this video is mine “me time” getting ready to church. Thank you for your ministry. Love you both P. S: So glad that the social worker called 🥰👏🏼
I love it when the two of you are together. You’re both a blessing!
Dawn and Diane, you two are so encouraging and spiritually uplifting! May God bless you and your service to Him.
Thanks so much for the encouragement in the Lord each week, especially in these times it is surely needed.
So true that we are being called to turn our hearts to him again.
Consider the truth of the biblical seventh day sabbath created in the garden of Eden blessed and honored by Jesus Himself ❣️
THANK YOU for not editing out the egg landing on your counter, lol! That's something I would do, and I appreciate that you keep it real! 😁
Happy birthday ladies. I really appreciate all you do and all you share. Your experiences, recipes and your faith. Be blessed x x 🙏 ❤
I cried when you were tearing up Dawn! Praying for your new season of life with foster care! Thanks so much for the edification today! Pastor's wife from Wyoming sending you love!
Thanks for sharing your ideas on how to be better "keepers at home" . . . love your enthusiasm!
Thank you so much for making me feel like I am your neighbor, and able to pop in and visit with you in your kitchen. I can SMELL that pumpkin spice cake in the oven!
Happy Birthday, Dawn & Diana! Blessings to you both as you bless all of us.
Thank you so much Lori!!
These words are so encouraging! Always look forward to this Sunday message! The pumpkin bundt cake looks delicious!
"You get a bundt pan, you get a bundt pan, you get a bundt pan!!" :)
Thank you for your weekly encouragement, your videos are so uplifting!
Dawn, I always enjoy your content, but especially look forward to your Sunday uploads with Diana. Thank you both for sharing with us!
Thank you! I love to hear your hope and positivity each week!❤
So happy you got the call! I quit listening to any news a long time ago, dont have time for drama n lies😄 smile, be kind and love like Jesus!
This video couldn’t have come at a better time for me, I felt as though you were speaking right to me, I was sitting here late at night couldn’t sleep due to fear and this was so helpful. Thank you so much! So exciting to hear about your fostering journey! God bless you ❤️
“5 minute Super Hero”... that’s a game changer 💪🏼😉
Would love to read that book and bake a bunt cake. An awesome idea ! Thank you both for all you do. Have a great week!
Dawn, praying for foster care. Diana, praying for sleep for you. God's got this. Thank you for your compassionate hearts!!
You two gals are amazing...I look forward to your chats every Sunday !!!
Much love 💓
When you smile it shows in your eyes. They sparkle
Such good news!! Praying the right child comes to you in the right time. But it's so encouraging when you see God working!
Blessings to you from smoky Oregon! christine
Thank you for the recipe. We are very excited about your next stage with foster care.
Dawn, your words of wisdom were so needed today! I'd love to read this book.
Happy Sunday! Thanks for the encouragement!!
Diana I've started waiving to say hi to people since I can't smile. It's a small step but I think its helping.
