USC Trojan Marching Band Salutes Louis Zamperini

- If one Trojan answered our university’s enduring call to “Fight On,” it was Louis Zamperini. As an Olympic athlete, USC track and field star and war hero, he endured a wayward childhood, torture as a prisoner of war and postwar mental anguish to become an inspirational figure of forgiveness and perseverance. Though he passed away earlier this year at the age of 97, his spirit lives on in Unbroken, the Angelina Jolie-directed film, that celebrates his life and indomitable will.
During the USC football game at the Coliseum on Nov. 29, the Trojan Marching Band honored the memory of Zamperini with a unique multimedia halftime presentation featuring scenes from the film. Preceded by a recorded introduction by Angelina Jolie, the show incorporated stirring music, illustrative field formations and images on the Coliseum video board to recount his life. To conclude the show, members of the Zamperini family and the star of Unbroken, Jack O’Connell, were honored on the field.

What an amazing life and an amazing man. I was at the game that day and though I didn't know a lot about his life, I was touched by what I was seeing in this tribute. It made me go out and get the book, see the movie and learn more about him. A true inspiration to us all. God bless you, Louis. You're with Him now and receiving your rewards in Heaven. Your message will live on. Fight On!

I think the poster lost track of why we'd be watching this video: for the band. Annoying picture-in-picture covers up the band all-too-often. Is there a version of the video without the movie clips?
