Anyone else watching all of David Lynch's scenes after the news today? The guy was incredible. I was talking with a guy at work today about David Lynch and he brought up his scenes on Louie which i never watched past the first few episodes a decade ago. These are great. Hey David Lynch fans, i've never seen Mulholland Drive should i give that one a go?
Well I love Louie at least a ton, but this cat Lynch has so much additional impact. Louie has chosen very well the cast members who support his vision.
Except that Lynchs' films are so incredibly psychotic it's almost too much to bear. I end up just having unsettling weirdness in the pit of my chest for about three days after watching one.
I love this episode in that it mirrors so much truth in life (this whole show does that really). Just when you think Louie finally gets his big break and things are looking up, it goes wrong in the most wierd and awkward way. I feel like theres been several opportunities in my life that I bungled just because I didnt know how to react at the time and things happened outside of my control. Thats why this shows surealist look on life hits home for me.
The Louie talk show host arc made me realize how much harder than it looks this job must be. I love the entrance scene where Lynch shows the kind of gesture and body language the dude must have to even enter in the screen.
I saw that shit, it was horrible.! It was just weird for the sake of Béing weird... Shitty plot, shitty story, shitty acting, cause NON of the actors knew what that was all about.! It was a "hype", yet it was Made with the intention of Being a hype... Yet nothing more than a bunch of hot air.! Everyone with half a brain didn't give a flying fuck anymore what happened to Laura Palmer, afther viewing 3 or 4 episodes, as you could feel the weirdness taking over the whole purpus of the movie.Lynch made a few good things, but this was NOT his best... It was the most Famous though...(as far as I know).
damn for me it's the greatest TV series ever , 99% of tv series don't have a plot just a bunch of writers coming up with stuff if the pilot and first season picks up. Twin peaks was mocking it even before it was a thing. I also loved the akward comedy in it. Maybe thats the reason i grew up so fucked up damn you Twin peaks.
Still one of the greatest tv shows of all time, period. I wish he would do another series, the girl actors are grown up now, it would add a whole new dynamic.
What's great about these scenes is that Jack, while his methods are seemingly cooky and irrational is actually perfectly logical in everything he expects of Louie. And everything Louie has to do is very self evident, but he expects for his hand to be held through the whole process. Jack's orders always state exactly what Louie has to do in order to reach his goal. Just with absolutely zero fluff or fanfare. Which is exactly the way the real inner work we have to do within ourselves is. Thankless and brutal. But not without reward. I've experienced the same thing in life. The road to success in life is lined with people and "authority figures" who are meant to challenge us and help us mature and graduate into a greater version of ourselves. Even if we don't realize it at the time. That's what Jack is for Louie in these episodes. Someone there to help him grow the hell up.
That's weird, I've only seen Twin Peaks, and I knew it was him from a long way off. There's no mistaking that hair, and Louie is a fucking surreal show.
The vibe of this show is uplifting and not depressing at all. I think the eary silence really helps in setting the positive mood fit for geek comedy. Wow i meant to say greek. Anyways now i see why all of CK's Tv shows were all great suCCesses.
David Lynch is so convincing in this role! I can't imagine him laughing after the scene is over; instead I see him saying “What is this crap? Is this supposed to be funny?”
It's funny because you know instinctively at that moment that Louie unintentionally blew it by asking about her mom, and he is not going to be able to handle it and will look like a jerk.
Still can’t wrap my head around the fact that Louie got Lynch as an actor in multiple episodes of his show.
What’s even weirder to me was that Lynch did a recurring voice role on The Cleveland Show, of all things, lol

Woah that's David Lynch who directed 'Eraserhead'! Louis must have been so excited to work with him since it's one of his favorite films
