Thank you for the review! Art and colours are top notch, gives the game a lot of oomph and presence. This is the sweet spot for me, graphics are exciting without being childish or heavily stylised. It's also something my partner could easily get into. She doesn't like gritty, dark or subdued art so I had to steer clear of Summoner Wars. This one oozes with theme. Game mechanics seem solid, I don't mind the combat-heavy nature because of the action point allowance system and creature/crystal abilities give you other bits to focus on. The only thing that gives me pause is the randomness of the attack/defense/tricky bonuses: you don't know what your opponents card does, ergo it won't matter what you pick because it can go either way. However, this is pretty much like the random element of dice throws in Summoner Wars. Love the art, love the AP system so I'm getting this.
This looks like a very good (and fast) 2-player combat game, sitting next to my Summoner Wars box (which so far is quite small, but we only got a few decks localized into Czech unfortunately). Looking forward if a local publisher picks this up!
I don’t like all the comparisons to Summoner Wars. To me they are both great games with different things that make them great. I feel like if this game wasn’t published by Plaid hat then there wouldn’t be so much comparison between them. Not saying the comparisons are bad just many people will overlook this game once someone mentions summoner wars if the already have summoner wars.
As soomeone who has a big board game collection played a lot of games and have Summoner wars as 3rd favorite game of all time. Yes you may say games are different, it shows they are but... at the same time a lot of things remind you of Summoner Wars. Or let's say it like this, by having Summoner wars I dont think you need this game, as Summoner wars basically replaces it. But I must say that I am not excited about this game. So a pass for me. Thank you for the review which helped me to decide.
Loki Hve that certainly doesn't apply universally though. I've already sold summoner wars as this game absolutely destroyed it on every level for me. Fair to say that I never liked it as much as you clearly do in the first place though so you're likely to feel different. Personally though I'd say this is summoner wars with the things I wasn't so keen on fixed. Hope it gets a positive reaction and a long life, as SW did. It totally deserves it!
What a perfect intro song. I just loved the way it perfectly included the exact DT members that are in the video.
I've got this showing up tomorrow. Wish the praise was stacked on a little more but I can't wait to get this played.
Yes, very much. It takes a few plays to get into it. But I’m kinda loving this game.
You still love the game 8 months later?
Thank you for the review!

My students and I love this game and are getting the expansions as well!

Just picked this up for $20 online for a March madness sale. Quite excited for this one!
man theres so much hate for this game but I love it. There even starting a league night out in oceanside for it! GO BLOOD CLAN
Is there actually hate for the game? That makes me sad. My students love this game!
The art looks nice and it sounds cool. Will have to try it.
I don't play too much 2p so I think I am still satisfied with Summoner Wars for now. Looks good though.
This looks like a mix of Ashes and Summoner Wars.
The lack of excitement that Sam and Tom have while talking about this game says it all
Not all. It doesn't say that you would love the game or not.
Not really. Depends on the individual. I got it last Monday. Already sold summoner wars as I'm that sure I'll never play it again.
...I think they DO sound excited.
who says "paper, rock, scissors"?
preorder done ! :)

Fair enough people are different and in general its only good for us consumers to have so many options choices to pick from. :)
Loki Hve yep. it's a good time to love board games for sure.
live play with david sam.
Not a fan of the artwork... Looks too cartoon-ish for my liking.
TheRmm1976 to each their own. Perhaps they were going for including/attracting a new/different demographic
Where is Zee?
