This project was so cool to see, each of you had different interpretations and ways to bring the ideas out. I wish we could see all 4 "sisters" together in their outfits!
@@unun7452 I wouldn't make it 666 either lol, I never make a purchase for 6.66 either, I'll just grab a pack of gum or whatever, I don't mess with the number just in case 🤞
Fun story: A lot of Gerwig's Little Women was filmed in my town of Harvard, MA because Louisa May Alcott spent part of her childhood at the Fruitlands Utopia community. So, for about a month, our tiny town center was transformed to look like the 1860s, and there were people just going about their filming days in giant 1860s hoop skirts! It was amazing! (oh and also my calculus teacher almost got arrested trying to get a picture of Meryl Streep)
Would Amy have owned a dress like this back in the day? I'm genuinely asking, the March sisters were said to be really poor and I don't know how much a dress like this would cost back then but Idk if she would have had such a lovely dress as the youngest of a very poor family of sisters
I agree!! It's been a LONG time since the Oscars were a venue that recognized talent. They give out Oscars to those they WANT to give Oscars to and not necessarily to those who deserve it. If they miss giving out an Oscar to some deserving actor one year because they''re giving out a 'gratuitous' Oscar for some political reason, they'll give it to him/her the next time regardless...or they may just ignore the person because they're spiteful. The movie industry is very childish - not child like, childish. Sad.
This looks gorgeous but for some reason ,before reading the title,I thought this was a Victorian inspired Cinderella gown. I’m also really happy you were able to get a sponsorship
Before hearing your intro this dress screamed Amy March to me. At some point I would love to see you create Anne of Green Gables inspired costumes as well. Beautiful work !
Angela this is the most beautiful dress and it looks exactly like something Amy would most definitely wear. You are such a wonderful designer, and sewists and at such a young age. You are a phenomenal artisan. Loved this video.
I like how you referenced a passage from the Little Women book about the impression Amy gave of being "enveloped in a diaphanous cloud, and floated airily". You really caught the feeling of Amy and I love the color.
I was hoping to make my wedding dress (over the course of 8+ months) and have it modeled after 1860s gowns. This certainly gives me a realistic vision of what to expect! Fantastic timing!
I can't get over the fact you hand sown so much on this gown! It is downright stunning and all credits to you for having the patience and skills to excecute this by hand
The evening bodice with the short sleeves is so darling, I can't stop looking at it either. What a beautiful color too, it goes so well with your skin tone. The light blue color, the white details, I imagine the light in a ballroom would hit the shiny trims and make you sparkle like water droplets that get hit by the sun - so stunning :) Just a little heads up: In your description, the link to your sewing book recommendations is underneath the "What scissors do you use?" question, instead of under the sewing books question. Not a big mistake but I was confused there for a second :'D
I am currently sitting in my new house with little furniture and tv, but we do have WIFI. Therefore I have taken it upon myself to introduce my parents to CosTube. Their responses, mom "OMG so pretty and she's so beautiful, wait is that bias binding I've done that before", dad, "you can see how much time she put into this by the fact her nail polish color changed three times".
The issue you had at 20:43.... whenever I have that zipper foot on it changes the foot pressure distribution and I find that I need to adjust it sometimes higher to produce a smooth seam.
Sony SHOULD sponsor you! They probably wish they'd hired you as the film's costume designer. Your skills are far more comprehensive than the recipient of that shameful Oscar.
Thank you to the people in our lives who “needed something to work on to keep them from being bored” who have taken on tiny, near invisible tasks, helping us meet deadlines and complete wonderful, beautifully ambitious projects, when our will might otherwise fade. For your love and your desire to nurture our ambition, thank you.
I remember how excited you were a few years back to make a pink Civil War era ballgown. I think this new one is even more stunning and I am glad to hear how happy you were about making it.
Seriously, you make this look too easy. I’m not even remotely a “beginner” seamstress, but I know this was very complicated and time consuming. You really are very talented.
I would really love to know how and where you store all these garments once they are completed as some of them are substantial in size and presumably you have a large number of clothes to store between your makes and vintage finds. Xx
Thank you for making a historically accurate Amy dress, I think they could have put slightly more effort into this. Some friends of mine went in their 1860's dresses to the Cinema and were kind of disappointed.
The costuming is actually awful. You can’t tell when it takes place. Many dress choices for locations do not make sense. They are a poor family why do they have so many extravagant dresses rather than just a few pieces styled differently together. Even if one would try to excuse it as stylistic choice you can still be accurate to the mindset of the period without being historical accurate. It was trust disappointing
@@fightmefairy yup. You can switch around dresses between sisters if all. Or even have like 2 tops per skirt (since obviously less fabric) If they were rich it would've made more sense to have a big closet. But really it's a peeve of mine with most movies. If it's over multiple weeks and they never wear the same thing. Like not really normal. Of course sometimes straying away from accuracy makes sense. Like if something is scandalous and its showing ankles or whatever, lifting that hem more because like people today don't even really notice ankles
Agreed, the movie wasn't one of aesthetical prowess for those with not even a keen eye. When I said disappointed I meant it with strong feeling as I didn't want to go on a rant about how awful my friends (and myself) felt after watching the movie. It was ruined for them because every time something meaningful happened, we were distracted by the idiocies throughout. However I wanted to put it a more delicate manner as you can understand.
Angela. Congratulations for being selected for this project. You were worthy of the honour and Amy would have loved wearing your beautiful dress. Stay safe.
Breath taking beautiful dress. I love the fabrics and trims. That printed bow fabric is gorgeous. The balance of lace beaded flowers is exquisite. Well done on a fantastic project. You amaze me!
Congratulations on your new sponsor! Anything "Little Woman" has my vote. I never get tired watching you create and see. I always learn something. This is no exception. Absolutely a beautiful gown on a beautiful lady 😍. Can't wait to see the movie.
Angela, I've been watching your videos for a couple of years now, and I'm enjoying seeing your personality come out and your sense of humor becoming really snappy and subtle.
I love your commentary in this video😂 "I asked how much they had and the woman said a lot and so a lot I bought"! Overall a much appreciated amount of sass👌
This is so perfectly beautiful, feminine and demure. I love how you accentuated your hair to match. You are gorgeous and this look is extraordinary on you. You have reached perfection. What a talent!
Oh Angela! You've done it again! I honestly think they should have had you all design the consumes for the film, because each one of your costumes are just stunning!
This dress is AMAZING!! How perfect for Amy, I always loved her even though I related more to Meg (I’m the oldest sister of a big family), and this dress is essentially exactly what I’ve always pictured her in, though I never could’ve translated it this well. Absolutely 10/10 amazing job on this. Side note, I would love to see a video about where/how you store all of the garments you’ve made! Every time you make something large and elaborate like this all I can think is “... her closet must be bursting at the seams” 😂😂
Wow. WOW. WOW! I have no idea how many times I said wow while watching this video, but it was a lot! I know the desiger won an award for costumes in this movie, but it is possible you outdid her! Bravo! Seriously impressive!
I really enjoyed both the evening & day gown versions...can't choose between them. grin. I second a comment I saw about how despite having Sooo many bows it still doesn't look 'too much'. Usually I don't even like bows but I think these really look well. Great job!
I wish Sony had included a challenge to make an interpretation of costumes for the mother and the servant characters. They are both important and would have given an opportunity to experiment with fashion of the time for an older woman and a woman of another class. They want to be lovely, too!
This is my new favorite dress that you made right after that A-MA-ZING 1916 orange dress that you made a while ago. I'm so jealous, I want those dress so bad... And, you are perfectly right: there are never too much glitter!
Hello. Stunning gown! One of my favourite of your creations for sure. You are so talented! It's always a pleasure to watch (and re-watch, and re-re-watch) your videos. I agree 100% with your views on trims and sparkly bits :D have a fabulous day!

So, by minute 40 I’m standing in front of my TV with my mouth gaping open in dumbfounded awe...1) love the shout out to your mom 2) at “it’s what my dreams are made of: literally made me shed a tear...3) how did you not get blisters!? Oh my gosh well done. I used to noodle around with making period clothes from an 1800’s sewing book and 1920’s singer sewing machine and it was HARD...you are seriously talented...can’t wait to watch the movie.... and I hope one day you’ll have your own Academy Award...
WOW! What a great dress, and what a great sponsorship! So many congratulations! Also I learned something new! I didn't know the dresses with interchangeable bodices were called transformation dresses - my first thought was that it was going to be one of those dresses that transform into a completely different dress, like the princess dresses Designer Daddy makes (as well as others.)
What a beautiful gown! I would love to have seen this in the film. It reminds me of a moment in the book where Amy in Paris is getting ready for a local party that Laurie is going escort her to. She had been given an old silk dress from her cousin Flo. Amy took inexpensive materials and succeeded in embellishing the dress and making it work for her. When Laurie arrived to take her to the party, Amy also succeeded in winning Laurie's admiration. It was perhaps the first time he realized what a lovely woman Amy had become.
I made a silk Christening gown for my granddaughter and the seams puckered lot until I talked to my sewing machine mechanic (God bless him) and handed me a package of new fine needles instead of charging me for a tune up. (The machine was only 6 months old)
All of your garments are fantastic, but this one makes me feel like I've seen it in a fashion exhibit at a national gallery somewhere. It is amazing. It is a fantastic rendition of Amy, I think this is exactly the dream she had in her head throughout the story.
Hi Angela, I just want to say thank you. I found your channel by accident and it was the best I've done for myself in a while. You have single handedly inspired me to get back into sewing vintage clothes. I used to be very skinny in high school, like 28 inch waist with average b cups. Fast forward 8 years and 50 pounds later, nothing I loved to wear or made myself fit me or even came close bc of weight in my stomach and my chest exploding into double d cups. So I've spent all of my professional career years just wearing whatever I could find that would fit me only to find i gree out of it a couple months later due to depression related eating habits. I had no hobbies I enjoyed anymore bc I just didn't see the point. This caused my professional career to suffer as well bc I just couldn't make myself care about anything bc I didn't really care about myself. I recently bought a dress that was too small on me but I just had to have it bc I thought I'd lose the weight to fit. Surprise, I didn't lose any. So I looked up videos a few weeks ago to refresh my mind on sewing and enlarging garments. This is how I found you and your videos. I can't stop watching, you are so inspiring to me! I was able to alter my dress and now I'm going through all my old vintage clothes and I am going to try to alter as many as I can so I can enjoy wearing clothes again. Thank you so much for just doing what you do, you've given me my hobbie back and part of myself back. Thank you
Wow that took so much work and fabric and the result is absolutely stunning. The first thing i thought of when i saw the thumbnail was cinderella's dress. The fairy says "periwinkle blue to match your eyes' this dress would be worthy of any fairytale
I used to make fashion dolls and dress them in period clothing that I made. All the way from underclothes to gowns and hats and parasols. I especially loved the gowns with bustles. I've never made them for adults. I admire your attention to detail and finishing work. Great job!!
I love these much longer, in-depth videos, and *love* this style of gown. The 1860s was such a gorgeous time period of dresses! I've had so many patterns for this type of gown for years, but I've still been too scared to try them, so I live vicariously through you
I'll admit, I'm not thrilled about the addition of polyester trim and plastic sequins, but can't deny the end result is very very pretty! (And very very You!) I'd personally go for a more toned down gown, even for the evening version. But this isn't about me, it's about two ladies who love sparkles: Angela and Amy!
Goodness me! While I know I will never use/sew many of the projects you show in your videos/tutorials, I am absolutely taken by your skills, passion, details, imagination, patience and execution. You are a beautiful, smart young lady. Thank you for taking your time to make all those wonderfully exciting and interesting videos.
I wish I could make something as beautiful as this. Unfortunately I'm quite uncomfortable with sewing machines since I put the needle through my finger.
Autumn Fox Bernadette Banner makes lots of projects using primarily hand sewing, since she’s likes making her historical pieces using historical practice. I recommend that you check her out.
My favourite is the evening gown, too - though the daytime bodice is also to die for - but those tiny little darling sleeves in the evening bodice were just lovely and I adore them so much - the whole project is exquisite - and you look utterly gorgeous in it - the colour does absolutely amazing things for you - I'm so impressed by this whole thing. You're a magician of fabric!
The amount of detail you put into the dress, how educated yet easy to understand you explain the process and talk about the period the dress is meant to represent. It left me speechless and listening to you calms me down as well. Very thankful for this video this morning, wasn't a good night.
This dress reminds me of the pink 1860’s ball gown you made a few years back that drew me to your channel! Also, you look so beautiful in that color blue. Great job as always!!!!!!
It was fascinating to see the different styles and manners of creating each piece! I think Sony made good choices on who should create each look. Each one came out great, and truly captured each character perfectly! This gown is so pretty, the ruffles and bows do evoke a young Victorian woman, and the color is dreamy! Great job!
I can't describe how my eyes grew even bigger when you went into the process for the bows - BOUND EDGES on EVERYTHING!!! Amazing project, looks absolutely gorgeous!
I love this! I re-read Little Women a few weeks ago, and Amy is my favorite March sister. She has the most personal growth, and the most acceptance and compassion for the people around her, no matter how much they try her patience.
AAAMYYY

@@lyndaofiowa718 a good sewing machine mechanic is good to know.💖🍁
All of your garments are fantastic, but this one makes me feel like I've seen it in a fashion exhibit at a national gallery somewhere. It is amazing. It is a fantastic rendition of Amy, I think this is exactly the dream she had in her head throughout the story.
Omgg how beautiful it is 😱❤️🌈 You are very talented really 👏👏
Thank you
Amazing work! So beautiful .
Wow that took so much work and fabric and the result is absolutely stunning. The first thing i thought of when i saw the thumbnail was cinderella's dress. The fairy says "periwinkle blue to match your eyes' this dress would be worthy of any fairytale
OH MY you are so talented .
I used to make fashion dolls and dress them in period clothing that I made. All the way from underclothes to gowns and hats and parasols. I especially loved the gowns with bustles. I've never made them for adults. I admire your attention to detail and finishing work. Great job!!
Keep inspiring, your work is beautiful.
The bows. THE BOWS!!!! 😵 what a feat. 👏🏻👏👏🏼👏🏿👏🏽👏🏾 sooo impressed. Cant wait to see the other installments from this Sony promo project.
I've been playing so much Animal Crossing that I thought the background music of the Able Sisters was playing...Very nice!
I love these much longer, in-depth videos, and *love* this style of gown. The 1860s was such a gorgeous time period of dresses! I've had so many patterns for this type of gown for years, but I've still been too scared to try them, so I live vicariously through you
OH MY GOD IT'S GORGEOUS
there's so much handsewing, i'd probably die
Wow. I am speechless. You should be making all the period piece costumes. That was AMAZING!
Autumn Fox Id start with handsewing if you want to sew but are nervous about machines
Autumn Fox Bernadette Banner makes lots of projects using primarily hand sewing, since she’s likes making her historical pieces using historical practice. I recommend that you check her out.
I'm out of breath watching you!! So beautifully done. I think you were given the correct character in Amy and you did a splendid job.
This dress is so stunning!! The color, the trimming, all just so beautiful!!
WOW! You a true artisan Angela. You MOST have the biggest closet around. I so wish I could sew like that. Keep up the GREAT work
It was fascinating to see the different styles and manners of creating each piece! I think Sony made good choices on who should create each look. Each one came out great, and truly captured each character perfectly! This gown is so pretty, the ruffles and bows do evoke a young Victorian woman, and the color is dreamy! Great job!
I don’t have the words to tell you how Stunningly Beautiful this gown came out-both day and night. I’m completely blown away and jealous! Amazing!
I love how it is both glamorous yet versatile. It seems something Amy would definitely approve of.
I can't describe how my eyes grew even bigger when you went into the process for the bows - BOUND EDGES on EVERYTHING!!! Amazing project, looks absolutely gorgeous!
im such a fan of the day one! if I could wear all of that 'practical' sparkliness I 100% would
I love this!
I re-read Little Women a few weeks ago, and Amy is my favorite March sister. She has the most personal growth, and the most acceptance and compassion for the people around her, no matter how much they try her patience.
Beautiful dress. The short sleeve bodice is my favorite. Such detail and lots of sparkle. Your patience with doing all the bow is impressive.
Anybody else get really excited when she posts a long video?
That first trim is so subtly beautiful gosh.
