I remember this, it was from a 1978 TV special, "Fifty Years of Country Music", cohosted by Roy Clark, Dolly Parton and Glen Campbell. It featured pretty much every prominent performer from the 1950s through the 70s (who was still alive and still performing). I wish they'd rerun it or put it out on DVD.
Kitty Wells is what led to Patsy Cline in the 1950s. That led to Tammy, Loretta, and Dolly in the 60s and 70s. That then led to Barbara Mandrell, Emmylou Harris, Reba, and the Judds in the 70s and 80s. That would then lead to Tanya Tucker, Kathy Mattea, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Pam Tillis, Trisha Yearwood, and Patty Loveless in the 80s and 90s. Which then leads us to Faith Hill, Martina McBride, the Dixie Chicks, Lee Ann Womack, Leann Rimes, Terri Clark, and Sara Evans in the 90s and 2000s. Which then came Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, and Taylor Swift in the 2000s and 2010s. After that then came Kacey Musgraves, Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, Carly Pearce, and Lainey Wilson in the 2010s and 2020s. To make a long time trip through the last 70+ years short, Kitty Wells laid the blueprint for today's women of country music.
So great to hear a woman sing country with a voice I can actually understand.
Her Voice Wow!One of the Greatest singing voices in history of music.
Queen Of country.
I love her. Reminds me of staying at my grandparents house.
The ONLY true and undisputed QUEEN of Country Music! No one will ever de throne her! Live on Miss Kitty! You were the first and the BEST!!
Amen! I say again, "Amen"!
Was in Naples, Italy Christmas 1961. I thought this was quite a sacrifice for her to entertain the Navy. Jerry James
After the best, there was only the rest..Kitty, you are the one and only Queen.

Kitty Wells was elegant, poised, professional, and she could sing and do so live on the spot without the use of technology to so do.
