A basic fact is that all these Ford Crown Victorias were originally sold with a 4 speed automatic overdrive transmission. Yet there are some people that have found it appealing to convert a Ford Crown Victoria to a 5 speed manual transmission from a Ford Mustang GT. It is too bad that the Ford Crown Victoria was discontinued. It was the last of a full size car, with a body on a frame construction, with a V8 engine and solid axle rear wheel drive. This was the kind of car that appealed to 3 groups of people. The Crown Victoria appealed to Police Departments as a Police Car. It also appealed to Taxi Cab companies as a Taxi Cab and it appealed to older people as a domestic car.
They were used in a lot of areas. The feel when driving is pretty old school! I liked the 5 speed it had in there. If there was a tiny bit less rev hang it would have been amazing.
I honestly want a manual swapped crown Vic. But like as factory reliable and believable as I could. I know this one is tuned, but without a tune and a the 5spd manual how's the MPG? Improved somewhat I assume?
The tune didn't make a whole lot of an mpg difference. The owner said they got mid 20s on the highway because of the long 5th gear; and high teens low 20s in city. On 87 not bad at all. As far as we know it operates like factory other than the rev hang. Which can only be fixed if you do a standalone ECU. Something with the factory computer won't allow you to tune it out.
Like this comment if you want to see one with a 3.73LSD and a blower in the future!
